Networking with Windows Vista Premium 64

I use 2 machines on my home network.  A desktop HTPC computer and office.  Both wired.  I have problems of sharing.  I log on to both computers and that you can see them both on the network.  I chose to use a password to view the files.  When on the HTPC I select desktop and am asked to connect.  I have connect and am able to navigate the file system.  But when I'm on the desktop computer, I can see the HTPC, but can not connect upon request.  I get a password for verification or logon ID.

I played a little bit and added another user.  So now, if logged on as A user, I can use the user B to access the HTPC for the desktop computer, but only one user file is not accessible, this file is selected as shared.

I checked and rechecked as the same, but can not get to work.

Have a read of the link above re Vista file and printer sharing.

Permissions/Share info is there as well.

If you use Norton, McAfee, Trend Micro or Kaspersky I.S., make that file and printer sharing is enabled in THE Firewall (or LAN enabled, depending on how their Exceptions are formulated in their firewall)

1st thing to do is to make sure that the name of working group on ALL computers is the SAME.

Above tutorial is how to change the workgroup name in Vista

See you soon.
