New 500 GB HARD drive is not recognized correctly

What is happening, I replaced the drive HARD than Go 150 original after about 18 months, again, now a year later, that the drive seems to have died too, so I bought a new seagate 500 GB drive HARD for it, the BIOS said it s it, but vista CD dies just when it is trying to install, CD WXP can t see the drive at all, but I expected that when WXP is older , but Vista I expected to work.

So here's the thing, I put the new HARD drive in my desktop PC and he found in the BIOS no worries, then I started the Vista CD and again no probs, Vista installed without worries, then I put the HARD drive in the lappy and once again he can t read it, so it s not a Vista thing , it seems that it s the lappy itself

Is this a problem with the Toshiba BIOS, or is it a physical problem where the Toshiba is struggling in reading ANY player?

It s driving me crazy.

And what model of laptop do you have?

Generally upgrade HARD drive should not be a problem. I assume that your laptop's HARD drive with SATA interface and I sure you bought the right of Mr. I've upgraded or because of the experiences on several laptops equipped new hard disks and all of them were still properly recognized and I was able to install original Toshiba Recovery (recovery DVD) on this subject image.

Maybe you have an older model A200 and perhaps he has some compatibility issues with new hard disks. I will be 100% sure works perfectly with HARD drive up to 300 or 400 GB maybe.

Do you use Toshiba Recovery for the Vista installation disc or original disc of Microsoft?

BTW: WXP is unclear due to lack of driver SATA HARD drive.

    What does that mean?

This means that you are only 'check' errors but does not fix all errors that can be found.

Assuming that your external drive is your E: drive, open a command prompt window and type the following command:

    CHKDSK E: /F {press Enter}

Substitute the correct letter of your external hard drive if necessary.  CHKDSK can take a long time to complete on a 500 GB drive, so be patient.  After that it corrects all the errors it finds, run CHKDSK again, just to be sure that there is no more errors.  If CHKDSK finds a lot of mistakes, or if it finds errors after that he has already corrected mistakes, your car could be at fault and it is high time to get your data to place secure.

  • Qosmio F20 - new HARD drive is not recognized correctly

I have a F20-153, just replace HD with Western Digital WD2500BEVE 250 GB that appears only 120 GB.
Everything works fine (Windows, everything) but * I can't bring up BIOS at startup to all top-most *.

Yes tried all combinations of keys F1 to F12, even tried under a full moon while that Peel an orange. I can't update the BIOS because the site says I last 1.40

Can anyone help before you start sacrificing poultry?

    Hello

First of all, it is not normal that appears only 120 GB instead of 250 GB., I don't know much about your model, but I guess there are limits, which means that the laptop can only handle drives up to 120.
Try to remove your new HD and replace the old one to see if you are able to enter the Bios.

  • Hard drive is not recognized in the BIOS - Equium A60

Hi hope someone can help. I have a Toshiba Equium EA60-173 and the hard drive is not recognized in the BIOS. When I remove the hard drive and put it in another laptop it is detected fine. I also tried another hard drive in the Toshiba and that does not work either. So I suspect the IDE controller has disappeared, but can I do to confirm this? I wish there was an option in the BIOS to force detection. I updated the BIOS but still the same.

This laptop is only just out of warranty, so if it is the controller would I need to replace the motherboard? Are there other options at my disposal?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Neil,

Unless there is some physical\problem with the cable/connector hard drive, then it is most likely that you will have a new mainboard for your laptop. I suggest you to contact an authorized service partner and ask them to check your laptop and give you an estimate of the cost of the repair. Then you can try to shop for less expensive alternatives.

  • Satellite A200 PSAF6A - HARD drive is not recognized. No recovery of product

The drive HARD in my Toshiba Satellite A200 PSAF6A-0US01N is not recognized in the machine or any other computer, so I can't run any windows/toshiba repair.

I know that readers have a factory reset hidden on the disc and press 0 to the power upward, but with the unreadable disk, how can I repair my installation of Windows Vista?

    Hello

If the HARD drive is not recognized by the BIOS or other laptops, then I would say that your HARD drive is defective.
In this case, you need to replace the HARD drive.
In this case, you will not be able to start the recovery procedure from the HARD drive because it works badly as he has already said

Are you from the Australia? If you need a recovery disk, I recommend contacting the local Toshiba ASP to get this drive

  • External hard drive is not recognized

My external hard drive is not recognized by windows, the led lights up but no display on 'my computer '.

Try it on another computer, if it doesn't, it could be a bad cable or hard drive box. Use a different cable or an enclosure.

If it works on another computer, on your computer check the disk, if it is displayed in computer management. In Explorer, right click on "Computer", click 'manage '. Under computer management, storage, click on "disk management". If it is showing a right click on it, click on «Change drive letter and path...» ", click the"Edit"button and then assign a drive letter.

Or if the reader is displayed, you can check in the Device Manager. In the device under Universal Serial Bus controllers Manager looking for the drive generally a mass storage device, right-click on it, uninstall and then restart. If does not uninstall everything under USB controllers, then restart your computer.

  • Qosmio G30 - RAID may not reflect new 500 GB HARD drive

I have installed 2 new identical 500 GB hard in my Qosmio G30 with Windows XP.

The system works well, but the disc cannot be mirrored. Report of the Raid Controller is 'Normal Operation status.

This disk cannot be used for mirroring because it is outside the management of the RAID."

Who can tell me whether it is a disc error or is the drive of 500 GB to big for the toshiba with Windows XP raid controller?

    > Can anyone tell me if it of a disc error, or is the drive of 500 GB to big for the toshiba with Windows XP raid controller?

Hmm. I m not very good, but it could be possible that the 500 GB HARD drive is too big for the mirroring of the mode.

But have you tried to change the mode in comforter Toshiba RAID you might find in Toshiba Assist-> Protect Fix & -> RAID Console

Check if you can switch to the mirroring.

By the way; RAID-1 is defined in the BIOS?
Usually, when you use RAID-1 configuration, the RAID is set to mirroring. In this case, the operating system recognizes the reduced ability to both hard drives (in your case, it is not important since you are using the two 500 GB HDD).

    Check it!

  • HARD drive is not recognized on the Satellite 2800 200

    Hello

First of all, I'm Dutch so I hope that I do not have too many mistakes in my English writing.

    I bought a 2800-200 Satellite at a friend's House. This laptop has a problem.
When it is started is says "insert the disk in the drive system. Press a key when readya?.

My bios is ACPI BIOS version 1.80
In Pheripheral in Bios it says disc hard = not used Mode.

On page two discs i/o: HARD drive: no drive.

I tried two hard drives and the two were not working and not recognized in the BIOS.
I have no CD of restoration.

    My questions:

What kind of central computer has this laptop?
Can someone help me with the recovery CD?
What can I do to fix this?
How can I change my BIOS so that the HARD drive is recognized?

My hard drive is MK2023GAS and is not broken. There is nothing on this HARD drive.
But also with the disk hard 10 GB of origin, I had the same problem.

I hope you can help me and once again I apologize for my English.

    Hello

I'll try to help you my friend.

    > When it is started is says "insert the disk in the drive system. Press any key when ready
This message appeared on my laptop after the HARD disk is dead.
I had to replace the HARD drive and reinstall the operating system.

I guess that it of the same problem with your laptop. The HARD drive is not present or not recognized, and you will need to install a compatible HDD for the operation of the OS.

I have google a bit and discovered that this laptop comes with the 10 GB HARD MK1016GAP of Toshiba drive. It supports the interface ATA-2/ATA-3/ATA-4/ATA-5.

Please note that many BIOS have a limit of size of HARD drive. This means that not all HARD drive sizes are supported! I assume a 20 GB should be compatible, but this is just my own opinion
    > How can I change my BIOS so that the HARD drive is recognized?
The BIOS can be modified outside the update (check page driver Toshiba-> Archive-> archive of Satellite).
But vary important is that you use a compatible HARD drive.

    > Can someone help me with the recovery CD?
Don t know if you will be able to order this CD at the service provider allowed in your country, because the laptop is really an oldie. But you should ask the guys.
What you is to install the OS from the Microsoft CD-ROM and then could install drivers needed.

    Greetings

    Hello

I plugged my WD HDD (model WD2500ME-01) to a Black MacBook and it was recognized as a 'Time Machine' drive.
Now I plug it to my PC (Windows XP Home Edition) and the drive is not recognized, no 'letter' is not assigned to the player. Drive HARD watch as "healthy (protection GPT Partition) under 'computer management' window and I can't assign a letter on the HARD disk."
I don't want to format the drive, I just need to save some files to it (a few concerts info).
I was told that the use of a "Data Disc Recovery Tool" that reads the GPT Partitions will help me.
Is there a way to 'Windows' to save the files?

    Hi Pam,.

    Welcome to the Microsoft community!

The external hard drive is not detected.

The problem may occur if the drive letter is not affected or the hard drive is not enabled.

What is the model of the unit?

To check if the drive letter is affected or if the disk is turned on, I suggest you follow the steps in the site:

  • Re: CD/DVD drive is not recognized correctly on my Equium P200

I recently bought a laptop P200D and now, I found that the CD/DVD drive is not recognized.

In Device Manager the drive icon has a yellow on exclamation and in the wealthy area it says "Windows cannot load the driver for this hardware device. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) »

  • Satellite A200-28R - new 500 GB HARD drive not recognized

    Hi all!

The BIOS cannot recognize my new 500 GB SATA HARD drive. When I connect it to the laptop, BIOS says "No device" in the drive options. Tried jumper allows you to change the interface of disc HARD SATA-1, but without effect.
How can I force the BIOS to recognize?

  • New HARD drive is not recognized on Tecra M1

    Hello

I am new to this forum, so apologies if this is an old question.

My Tecra M1 gave a quality service for the past 6 years, but recently, the Toshiba management console has put a message saying that the HARD drive will fail quickly.

I loaded immediately turned off my main files before you remove the HARD drive. It is a Toshiba MK6022gax 60 gig IDE hard drive. I bought a new disc of gigabytes of 60 MK6022gax, but when I mounted this same I got the error message "error ide #0". Installation XP or the BIOS can see this new record.

I then reassembled the old HARD drive, which started OK. I then mounted the new disk in a USB enclosure, initialized, partitioned and quick formatted using the XP disk management. He picked up OK. Then I copied some files to it and read them back with no problems, then the drive itself works very well. But when I plug as the main 'C' drive, I get the error message again and is not recognized by the bios or XP put in place.

Clearly, there is some BIOS (?) or startup procedure I have to do to get this recognized record. Help!

I have Tecra M1 long with 60 GB HARD drive. Right now, I've updated compatible HDD TOSHIBA HDD 2184 B.
I can confirm that the HARD drive is recognized correctly and I actually have the new install of WXP Pro.

In any case, have you tried to upgrade the BIOS to the default settings?
As far as I know that nothing should be set before you put the new HARD drive and it must be recognized correctly.
