New disk for Tecra M2
Hello
I want to install a new drive HARD 80 GB on my Tecra M2 1.8 GHz, purchased dec 2004. At this time a new 80 GB HARD drive has been the product of PA3230U - 1: 80. A new HDD of 80 GB for Tecra M2 is now under the name of PA3407 - 2 80 H. Can I use it in my Tecra M2 (from 2004)?
Thanks in advance.
Dr. Weekx R
Hello
To my knowledge the Tecra M2 accepts the 30 GB; 40 GB; 60 GB; 80 GB and, therefore, you can install the 80 GB HARD drive with no problems.
I think that it s no matter if it s a PA3230U - 1: 80-PA3407 - 2 H 80.
The laptop supports an interface Enhanced IDE (ATA-6) and Enhanced IDE (ATA-5)
Thus, you can use a disk HARD 5400 RPM 80 GB, size memory buffer of 8 MB, which takes in charge an EIDE (ATA-6) interface.

Install the new disk on Tecra M2
Hello
I have a laptop Tecra M2 HARD drive abandoned a year ago and served in a drawer since I'm keen to get it up and running again, but wonder if I should buy a HDD that is specific to use in it and what is involved?
My interpretation of it is that it's an IDE HDD that is needed, any 2.5 "IDE HDD off ebay will work or do I need to buy a specific brand, because they are not all in the United Kingdom listed for the M2.
If a generic IDE HDD will work in the laptop (like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HITACHI-30GB-IDE-ATA-PATA-2-5-LAPTOP-HARD-DRIVE-HDD_W0QQitemZ320332706439QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Com puting_HardDrives_RL? hash = item320332706439 & _trksid =p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=72%3A1300|66%3A4|65%3A12|3 9% 3 a 1 | 3A 1318 240%) are additional media required or should he just fit into the laptop?
Then, once I inserted the HARD drive in the laptop computer and turned on, is there anything else necessary or should just be able to get to the top and running with a disc o/s?
Thank you very much in advance for your help.
Hello
You are right. Tecra M2 must 2.5 IDE HARD drive and you can use it on eBay, but if you must buy new HARD drive I recommend buying the HARD disk with the largest capacity supported. Tecra HDD supports 30 GB HARD drive; 40 GB; 60 GB; 80 GB capacity.
Tecra M2 is cute laptop and if you want to use it for a longer period of time buy 80 GB and be happy. You will have enough space to save a lot of different data.

Update hard disk for Tecra 8000 PII
I installed a new HD in my Tecra 8000 PII. Old pn:21 L 9540. According to the specs, I received pn:MK4021GAS can be installed in the seat of doensn t of BIOS Tecra 8000.The the new HD. I did a BIOS upgrade to version 9,31 with no result.
Is there a solution to my problem?Kind regards
Bert
[email protected]Hello
I don't know but, I am very pessimistic, you have every chance of casting more than 8 GB HDD to your laptop because there are BIOS HARD disk size restrictions! If the latest version of the BIOS does not support the new HDD it appears impossible to run!
Can you please send a link where is possible to read the specifications of this 40 GB HARD drive.

Question about upgrade disk for Tecra M1
Hello
I have a failed 60 GB hard drive in my notebook Tecra M1 aged three years and decided to upgrade to a new drive before the existing one doesn't die. I would like to take this opportunity to install a slightly larger HDD (for example 80 to 120 GB) but I'm unclear as to the maximum permitted by the BIOS (1.5 v) has anyone successfully mounted a drive of more than 60 GB in a Tecra M1 or found definitive information on the limitations of the BIOS?
Thank you very much
Jezzer
Hello
I found information that the Tecra M1 supports 30 GB, 40 GB, 50 GB and 60 GB HDD.
Perhaps you might be able to use a 80 GB HARD drive, but I think that the 100 GB HARD drive is definitely too large size of HARD drive. What about a HARD drive test? You could take the laptop to a merchant of HARD drive and you could test several sizes.
I think that it is no bad idea. What do you think?? -
A new disk for the Satellite 2410 404
Hi all
Can someone tell me whether or not first if a 80 GB drive work in my 2410 404? Second, if I'm having problems of heat using a disk 7200 RPM in my 2410-404 and last but not the least if someone has already had a 7200 RPM Hitachi working in a 2410 discs or something similar?
I think buying a HTS721080G9AT00 as soon as they are available in Germany, but I want to assure you that my laptop won't bang if I :).)
Thanks in advance,
AlexHello
normally, there should be no problem, but sometimes the BIOS do problems with HARD drive for a bigger change!
In this case, you should look at if a newer BIOS is available on the Toshiba download page!
heating can be a problem because this laptop is designed for hard disks more slow and is not testedwith faster new!
Good bye

Configuration and closing the new disk for Portege R100
I just set up a new 40 GB HDD in my Portege r100. I think I need to format the disk before that it will work. How to do this please? I downloaded and installed the latest version of the bios
Hello
If the HARD drive is already detected in Windows Explorer, right-click on it and select format. If this isn't the case, you can use programs like Partition Magic or even your recovery CD to do a first formatting. If you use the recovery CD, the OS will install again, so you have to format the HARD drive again with Explorer.
Good bye

In my laptop model 014, common Tecra A8 # PTA83L - 02K HDD is Fujitsu 60 GB SATA (mode # MHV2060BH).
I want to upgrade to 320/500 GB.Please suggest a replacement HARD drive.
I can not know what HARD drive I need to purchase.Kind regards
kannitHello
You can use any SATA 2.5 HARD disk since the SATA controller is not limited to a specific size of the drive HARD 250 GB or 500 GB even shouldn't be a big problem
and cloning a HARD drive should also be possible.

Hello
The error message indicates that there is nothing to start, it means that an operating system is not installed, or the MBR is corrupted, that is not your case. The hard drive is ok, but you must restore the system using the recovery disks, you got.
It's simple, change the startup option in the BIOS to CD/DVD-ROM as the first one (press ESC on startup, press F10), then you can insert the No. 1 disc in the optical drive recovery. Save the settings of the BIOS (reboot), then follow the instructions (click on factory reset). It worked for me that way...

the disk should have 146 Gb 10 K RPM

BTW, readers must be 146 GB / 10K... they can be 146 GB or more and turn to 10K or 15K and still be compatible with your server and your table.
