New drive HARD Help Needed!

Hello

So here's my problem.  Our family for laptop (HP G72-B27CL 500 GB under Windows 7 64-bit) start indicating an imminent "hard fail" error and noting that the hard drive needs to be replaced.  I moved all the important files, which we do not have a lot of because we have especially surfing the web on our desktop via a USB flash drive.  I then did a system recovery disk.

After talking to a person on this site, I felt confident that I would be able to buy a new disk, Windows 7 recovery and be up and running like new.  So, I bought a Toshiba P000530540 320 GB HARD disk (downgraded a bit to save money because we had used about 20 GB of our 500 GB HARD drive) and it arrived yesterday.  I printed some HP G72 repair instructions and place the new HARD drive in the laptop.

This is where I start to get confused.  I started the computer with my DVD to boot from recovery.  I get to a named System Recovery Options window that asks me to choose the language of (US) keyboard input.  The next screen gives me a few options whether to repair or restore.  However, Windows 7 (or something else) does not appear in the drop-down list in the middle of the window.  There is a button in the lower right hand that says "Load Drivers".

So my question is, what in the heck I'm doing?  If I push the button "Load Drivers", I don't know what are the files to look for or how to proceed.

Please give me any advice you can.

Thank you!

PS - The old HDD still works very well, he just constantly reports HARD drive errors.  So, I could back up to do any more work that I may have missed.

Hello:

What happens when you select the restore option? Nothing?

I've never used recovery self-made discs, so I don't know what you see.

Worst case scenario, if you can't use your recovery disk to install Windows, you can download the Windows 7 version that is on your sticker microsoft COA on the bottom of your laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) and use the 25-character product key to activate Windows.

If all goes well, you can read all 25 characters on this thumbnail, because the other method will not work without you being able to read all these characters product keys.

http://www.mydigitallife.info/official-Windows-7-SP1-ISO-from-Digital-River/

You must use a program that can burn ISO burning files, so that the DVD is bootable DVD.

Burn the DVD at the slowest speed possible.  Boot from the DVD and install windows 7.

Then just go to the support page and the driver of your laptop to install hardware drivers that are not included.

  • New drive hard problems

    Guys,

I wonder if someone can help me.

I need to add additional hard disks to several virtual machines and use the vSphere PowerCLI v5.1 against a vCenter Server running 5.1.0b.  When I try to add the disc using the cmdlet new-hard drive, I get the following error:

New-harddisk: all parameters can be solved using the specified named parameters.

    On line: 1 char: 13

    + new hard drive < < < < - vm WinXpMstr - capacityGB 100 - diskpath "[MV] WinXPMstr/1234.vmdk".

    + CategoryInfo: InvalidArgument: (:)) [new-harddisk], ParameterBindingException)

The full syntax of the command to run is:

new drive hard vm - WinXPMstr - capacityGB 100 - diskpath "[MV] WinXPMstr/1234.vmdk".

    Thank you

    Paul

You mix the different parametersets of the cmdlet New - hard drive settings.

In your case CapacityGB and DiskPath cannot be used together.

    Hello:

The problem is that you must incorporate the necessary sata ahci drivers for windows XP to see the hard drive.

Has Windows 7 and XP is too old an operating system to make them.

Read the info at the link below, section of Intel and then read the downloadable PDF document for instructions on how to integrate all the drivers.

    http://h30434.www3.HP.com/T5/notebook-operating-systems-and-software/SATA-drivers-for-XP-solution-on-0x0000007B-BSOD/m-p/114120#M17758

The only other way to install XP on this model is to go into the bios, the storage section and change the setting of sata ahci to ide emulation, save the setting here and once again, when you go out.

The problem is that if you do this, you cannot change the setting for the preferred setting of DCIS, unless you know how to install the correct ahci sata driver after installing XP from the controller.  If you try to just change the setting back on ahci without having to install the controller driver, the PC does not start upward.

Try "slipstreaming" the drivers first and if you can't swing, install XP in IDE mode and I'll help you get the drivers installed, so you can change the BIOS to ahci setting.

    wath is the GB limit

    Hi Theo,.

HARD drive is mounted on your machine fest, and it is not easy to change. First you have to remove the keyboard, then view and top of page coverage too. If you want to do it yourself, be careful. If you do something wrong, it can be very expensive.

It is not easy to say which is the limit of the HARD drive, but I'm sure you can use 10 GB with no problems. Try to contact the after-sales Service of Toshiba partner. Perhaps, they can give you specific information.

I don't know if it's fixable and that's what I have to do. I also said that when you replace a HARD disk I need a recovery disk.

I reside in Cyprus and don't have is not easy access to the shops of style PC big supermarket.

I was wondering if I could use a generic HDD and if so is there a particular one that I need to acquire?

    Also

where would I go to get a recovery disk?

I got the laptop I can't afford to buy a new one at the moment and it is still in very good condition apart from the above-mentioned problems!

I wish that all the advice on what type of HARD drive, I would need or is available - rough cost so I don't get ripped off and if we change the disk HARD is as easy as I read. Also where I should go to get a recovery disc and if that's all I need to fix the laptop.

Thank you very much in advance for any help I can get.

    > The laptop does turn on - is it possible to make a recovery of a damaged laptop disk

How do you do if you can't turn on the laptop?

What you could do is to remove the HARD drive, then place it into the drive enclosure HARD 2.5 external, then connect the HARD drive to another computer, to save the data.

In my opinion this is what you could do

If you prefer to fix it as a repair, then telephone HP support, please use the following http://www.hp.com/contacthp and create a folder for your question. Either by the way, if you have only one hard drive installed which is the normal case, the size of your hard drive will be the sum of all partition sizes as well as all space not yet allocated.

    I hope this helps.

  • I can not format or partition my new drive HARD internal

I have a MacBook Pro late 2011. The other day, I was unable to boot and got the flashing question mark folder. When I command + R, my old 500 GB of HARD drive was not appear. I decided it was time to upgrade. I bought a Seagate 2 TB drive and installed it. I am now ready to install OS X on it. I am able to see the drive when I go into Internet recovery, but failure of attempts at partitioning and formatting. The error for the formatting is "wipe data on the volume to avoid future to probe accidental is not" and the error for partitioning is the same. I looked for answers and I tried all the solutions I could find, but I am unable to do the single user mode that I can't boot into it successfully.

Are there other options or ideas that guys maybe I can try?

I suggest that you consider getting an external adapter or place the new drive in an external enclosure. Install Mac OS X on this subject here.  When you are satisfied with the way it works, and THEN do the transplant.

This separates from the software install the registry numbers, reduced the problem by half and the two halves solvable.

  • Satellite L655-1GN - failed to install the new drive HARD original recovery image

    Hello

Just had to buy a new hard drive and put the latter with the former. I already checked that he was the same size and SATA as the original hard drive. When I tried to start a new installation of the operating system from the recovery disk (that I bought the Toshiba provider in my country - MAFIL), the boot option was not available.

MAFIL representative told me that the recovery disks only for the reinstalliation of the OS on the original drive, but are not suitable to install a fresh copy again. So, how can I install my Win7 64-bit, with all settings on the new drive and Toshiba apps?

    Thank you
    Tomer

On many models of laptops different change HARD drive or upgrade can be done by the owner of the laptop and after doing this, you can install recovery image using the disc of recovery without any problem.

I did several times on different models of Toshiba laptops. This works.
I really don't understand how someone can give you this information.

By default the BIOS settings, restart your machine and press F12 at startup. When the boot menu appears on the screen put the recovery disk ODD news, select CD/DVD as a boot device and press ENTER.
What happens when you do this?
