  • New iMac will not let me install iMovie 10.1 and iMovie 9.0.9

    Hello

I have a new iMac (with Capitan 10.11.1) and has made a transfer of my old iMac, where I was running both iMovie (for all my new films since 2013) 10.1 and 9.0.9 iMovie (for my pre of movies more old-2013). However, my new iMac only copied through the iMovie 10.1 and refuses to allow me to install iMovie 9.0.9 too.

    Two options:

Is there an easy way to get my iMac to allow two versions of iMovie to run?

    OR

There's an easy way to transfer all my projects and events 9.0.9 iMovie in the iMovie 10.1 library so I can watch all my old files (*.prj) project

Grateful for all suggestions / advice

    Thank you very much

    Evie

iMovie 9 does not work properly with El Capitan.

I suggest that you use your old mac to transfer your iMovie projects to iMovie 10 9.   You then consolidate projects and events that you have just updated in order to ensure that the library contains everything and has no links to files on the old mac that won't be available on the new mac.  See: http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.1/#/mov882dee351 for more details.

Give a distinct name to the library and copy it with Finder via a network or an external drive for the new mac.  You can then copy the updated events and projects of the first library on the new mac.  See: http://help.apple.com/imovie/mac/10.1/#/mov3fa25bae7 for more details.

When you are sure that everything is working OK you can trash the library with the Finder.  First close iMovie.

  • iMac froze on Start up on the Apple logo and the spinning wheel.

    Hello

Now I just get the apple logo with the spinning wheel down on white background. I'm running snow leopard top and it worked fine until a couple of days. I can't on the utility disk or anythong at all. I'm not the most intelligent in the computers and it has me really stumped. Any kind soul can help with some info?

Before doing all this, what is your status of backup? You have Time Machine or a clone of your hard drive? If this isn't the case, it may be best to do nothing until you are able to see if you can find a way to save your data if things go from bad to worse.

That said, assuming you are running OSX 10.5.8 (like on your profile) or Snow Leopard (according to the guidelines of this forum), have you tried starting restoring 1 gray disc that came with the Mac or the Snow Leopard installation disc? Insert the startup disk by holding down the c"" key. You may need to push the disc for the CD/DVD drive so that it can swallow the disk when you start if you can't get the Mac to accept the drive in its current state.

If all goes well it will boot from the gray disk, although slowly. Once started go to the Menu utilities > disk utility. Launch disk utility, select Macintosh HD and click on "repair disk". If changes are made click on repair disk again and repeat until you get a clean pass. Once that is done, try to restart normally in the Apple menu.

  • best way to put in place a new iMac with saved files?

    Hi all

I'm new here so please forgive me if I've done something wrong. Just recently got a new iMac and wanted to get all my software work of music and other files installed. I used the Migration Assistant on the iMac to move files from a recent time Machine to the top of my Macbook Pro. After what seemed to be a successful migration, I noticed that Garageband, iMovie and a few other products Apple should be updated. My new iMac has been updated the newer versions until the migration wizard has been used. My questions are, it's best to go on a new set up, and never has that somehow restored my new machine settings to the previous settings of the Macbook Pro? Would it have changed anything wise speed or image and sound quality wise? of resolution, depth of bit or similar?

Thanks in advance for any help or answers.

  • spinning wheel on the status bar on iphone

I wrote a question for a while to get the spinning wheel next to the symbol wifi in the status bar on my iPhone 6.  I checked the background app refresh to see if it was looking to update my applications in the background and that has been turned off.  I don't know what else could be the impeller constantly appear on my status bar if this feature is disabled.  If anyone has any ideas or suggestions or suggestions as to what it could be because I'm sure that this affect my battery life, so therefore, any help would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you in advance.

    Hi Tommy,

I had a look at your previous post about the spinning wheel next to your Wi - Fi symbol on your iPhone. Good job on the research of open applications and other sources that can cause this problem. I've been in situations where something has been empty my independence as well. So, since it seems to be draining your, I'll have you try a few more troubleshooting ranging from easiest to hardest.

I'm almost certain that you tried to reboot your iPhone. If you do not, it is the easiest step and gets overlooked often. If you have tried all the steps I provided here, feel free to ignore them.

For the safety of your data, whenever you reset a device, it is always a good idea to have a new backup of your data

The backup of your iPhone, iPad and iPod touch

Your iPhone is certainly connected to your Wi - Fi connection, but it seems necessary to refresh the connection or it tries to maintain the connection. Can help reset your network settings. This will not affect previously connected settings Wi - Fi networks and passwords, Bluetooth accessories recently used, VPN, and APN.

If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch connects to a Wi - Fi network

Even if other devices are connected and working as it should, your network may need a reboot as well. Step 5 in the previous article covers this. Either disable Wi - Fi on your phone (settings > Wifi) or turn your phone off altogether. This is not mentioned in the article, but I recommend to unplug the modem and the router, leave them turned off for 5 minutes, restart the modem and wait to switch completely to the top, then the router. If you have an all-in-one, then for 5 minutes. Once your network is back, connect the phone only and see if you still have the spinning wheel.

If the previous steps have not helped, the last step is to restore your iPhone to factory settings. If you saved it before you begin troubleshooting, you're fine. If you do not, the next step will delete your entire iPhone. Without a backup, there will be data loss.

Use iTunes on your Mac or PC to restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod to factory settings

Before restoring your back upwards, see if you still get the spinning wheel next to your Wi - Fi symbol. If it still turns, you should have your rated iPhone. You can use the following link to locate an Apple retail store or Apple authorized service provider.

    Find locations

If there isn't one near you, you can contact Apple Support for the rest of your service options.

    Get help

If the wheel is not present after restoring to factory settings, you can restore your back upward at that time here.

Restore your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch from a backup

If the impeller is returned, the question is in your back. You can restore your iPhone to factory settings again and sync your iPhone with iTunes and download apps and also look for the spinning wheel back. If/when it does, you have reduced the question.

    Hope you enjoy your day!

  • When App Store starting spinning wheel

I often get a spinning wheel when starting the App Store on my iMac. It's still, sometimes accidents application after some time. On the internet I found some solutions (killing the app, removing plist files, doing a NVRAM reset,...). It helps, but the second time I start the App Store to the spinning wheel is back. It's annoying because I want to install the updates and I don't want to delete the plist files and make a NVRAM reset each time. Maybe someone knows a more permanent solution?

Start Safe Mode removes the system caches that can help.

Upper left corner of your screen, click on the Apple  > Shut Down.

After your Mac stops, wait 10 seconds, then press the power button.

As soon as you hear the startup tone, hold down the SHIFT key. You must press the SHIFT key as soon as possible once you hear the startup tone, but not before.

Release the SHIFT key when you see the gray Apple logo and progress indicator.

Once you are in Mode without failure, return to the menu Apple . In the drop-down list, click: reboot

Then launch the App Store then try your updates.

  • Time Machine may be the cause of spinning wheel

I run a diagnostic test of material on my computer iMac 27 "end 2012 with 24 GB memory and running OS X 10.11.4 and found no problem.  I ran some more test scope and her found no problem. Over the past 2 weeks I started randomly get a wheel that rotates when I return to the computer or try to log in after it was locked. Opportunity, it won't let me log on, all I have is a spinning wheel.  I chatted with Apple and they have me delete some files in my library. This did not help.  I think the problem is with the time machine because I have noticed that this problem begins when the hourly backups are missed. I have a 3 GB CAP and an external hard drive. Backups run every hour for readers. I think that maybe it's time capsule which is the culprit, but I don't know about you. My time capsule is a 3 TB Apple I bought in November 2015.  No matter what advice would be greatly appreciated that the wheel rotation and freezing my system is getting very boring.

These must be run as administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.

Please launch the Console application in one of the following ways:

☞ Enter the first letters of his name in a Spotlight search. Select from the results (it should be at the top).

☞ In the Finder, select go utilities ▹ of menu bar or press the combination of keys shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.

☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.

    Step 1

For this step, the title of the Console window should be all Messages. If it isn't, select

SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ all Messages

in the list of logs on the left. If you don't see this list, select

List of newspapers seen ▹ display

in the menu at the top of the screen bar.

In the upper right corner of the Console window, there is a search box to filter. Enter "BOOT_TIME" (without the quotes).

Each message in the journal begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the BOOT_TIME message that corresponds to the last boot time when you had the problem. Now, clear the search box to display all messages. Select those recorded before starting, during the time that something unusual was happening. Copy to the Clipboard by pressing Control-C key combination. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command + V.

For example, if the system is unresponsive or unable to stop for three minutes before you forced a reboot, post the timestamped messages within three minutes before the start time, not after. Please include the message BOOT_TIME at the end of the extract from newspaper - not at the beginning.

If there is a long series of messages, please post only one example of each. Do not post of many repetitions of the same message.

When you post a journal excerpt, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.

Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.

Please don't dump blindly thousands of lines in the journal in this discussion.

Please do not post screenshots of log messages - text poster.

    Step 2

    In the Console window, select

DIAGNOSIS AND diagnostic USE information reports ▹ System

(not diagnose them and use Messages) in the list of logs on the left. If you don't see this list, select

List of newspapers seen ▹ display

    in the menu bar.

There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points downwards. You will see a list of reports. A crash report has a name that begins with the name of the process crashed and ends with ".crash". A report of panic has a name that begins with "Kernel" and ends with ".panic." A report of stall stop has a name ending with ".shutdownstall". Select the most recent of each, if any. The content of the report is displayed at right. Allows you to copy and paste to validate all of the content, text, not a screenshot. It is possible that none of these reports exist.

I know that the report is long, perhaps several hundred lines. Please report all this anyway.

If you don't see any report, but you know, there was a crash or panic, you can have selected diagnostic and using the list of Log Messages. INFORMATION on the USE of DIAGNOSTIC AND choose instead.

In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you change the UUID ' anonymous, ' a long string of letters, numbers and dashes in the header of the report, if it is present (it cannot be). "

Please do not post other types of diagnostic report - they are very long and rarely useful.

When you post the journal excerpt or the accident report, you might see an error message on the web page: "you have included content in your post that is not allowed", or "the message contains invalid characters." It's a bug in the forum software. Thanks for posting the text on Pastebin, then post here a link to the page you created.

If you have an account on Pastebin, please do not select private in exposure menu to paste on the page, because no one else that you will be able to see it.

New iMac, purchased in August 2015, worked well until this week. Now, everything happens very slowly. Color wheel, slow, typing speed, applications crashing, etc.

It's an iMac with 1.4 GHZ Intel Core i5 and 8 GB of memory. From this moment, I have 433.16 free BG to 498.93.

I just upgraded to 10.11.1, but the speed slowed down before the upgrade.

I have a suspicion of naivety that recent web video game adventures of my son may have something to do with the slow down. He's young, and he may have clicked on somehing involuntarily. Is there a way to eliminate unintentional downloads? Other suggestions?

  • New iMac with El Capitan blocks the first export

We bought this new iMac last year (2015) and it came with El Capitan. In addition, it cannot be demoted to an operating system previous x. driver problems.  So after a few months first started crashing on the Adobe Media Encoder export. There are other bugs, but this one is debilitating. This works if you simply export but if you send to the SOUL, it blocks the two programs. I guess one of the latest Apple updates OS X caused this?

    Hi Garrett:

I suppose that you change files from QuickTime movies, correct?  What CODEC are you using?  Apple has deprecated QuickTime for executives of Foundation AV.  Thus, the operating system is more multimedia as processing time it used to.  If your question is somehow associated with CODEC, you'll want to convert all your images source H264 or Apple ProRes (you may have noticed that QuickTime Player 10.4 OS x 10.11.5 does this automatically if necessary).

Maybe try the demo version of CC?  If it works more as you'd expect, it's money well spent.  Also, do you know that you can subscribe to just first Pro CC for $19.99 / month?

Another solution could be to Adobe Premiere Pro Elements, but also consult iMovie and Final Cut Pro X.  iMovie should already be installed (as I am sure you are aware) and I think that Apple always offers a trial version of FCP X.
