  The resolution setting has no effect on the image. No matter what the resolution is fixed to, the pixel dimensions will remain the same. When I post photos on Facebook, I usually export copies with size defined for the long edge of 1000 pixels. Maybe it's a little too big.   Normally a combination of methods are used to achieve this goal, but media queries are always part of the solution. The basic idea of a media query is:

  Start by opening the image in Photoshop, by clicking on the word 'File' in the menu bar, mousing down to 'save for Web '. The record of the Web dialog box is displayed.

  Forget the ppi with images for the web. The extent of the IPP has no use.

  Everything you need yourself with concern is the number of pixels in width by the number of pixels high.
