New (?) Patch Windows 7 can break up from VMware

I have no idea if this would affect any of us, but for those of us who run Windows 7 and using the Simulator, there is apparently a fix for Windows which can break up from VMware.

I never put my automatic update machines, so I'm covered for now, but if you have updates automatically applied, take this into account and if you notice new problems, you can try to do a restore to cancel the patches.  Or wait to see if any other information comes to this subject.

It is not only related to VMware View software? I read the article and it doesn't seem to affect VMware player, doest it?

In all cases, the VMware article on which already points to an update.

See you soon

  • How can I play a file Windows DVD on my new computer Windows 8 that I transferred from my old Vista computer?

If I understand good Windows Media Player doesn't not part of Windows 8.  I have copied the file but could not find a package to read.

Windows Media Player is part of Windows 8, but the codecs required to play the DVD are not delivered with most versions of Windows 8.  You have the Media Center Edition of Windows 8 in order to get native DVD playback in Windows.

VLC is a 3 rd party application which provides for DVD playback.  There are also other applications that your ships from seller of PC with window 8 for DVD playback, to check that as well.

  • New motherboard, Windows 7 can be installed again

My Office Custom, which has Windows 7 Home Premium installed on it, has recently had mother decompose. The hard drive is completely safe and I will install a new motherboard in the tower.

My question is, since the original, or the motherboard, computer will not be in use, Windows 7 software may be transferred to the new motherboard. I have Windows 7 installed on another computer.

If Windows 7 Home Premium is an OEM license, then you can not transfer to a new motherboard. If this is a Windows 7 license in use elsewhere, you can not use it on the new motherboard.

The OEM of Windows 7 versions are identical to the versions commercial full license with the following exception:

-OEM versions don't offer any free direct support from Microsoft technical support Microsoft

-OEM Licenses are tied to the computer first you install and activate it on

-OEM versions allow all hardware upgrades except for an upgrade to a different model motherboard

-OEM versions does not move directly from an older Windows operating system

  • Y at - it Department within Microsoft called Microsoft windows that can receive messages from a customers computer error

About 1 every month that I get a phone call from someone with a thick Indian accent who claims in the first place, it works for windows, when I ask whose windows he says its Microsoft Windows.  It will then just telling me that my Windows program sends his Department mistakes and he wants to fix them... Several times I asked to speak to a Manager and he is responsible, he said, I asked him to send me something by mail and he never does, he says he wants to help me fix the errors now (My Microsoft windows is not telling me of all the errors), the first time that I received the phone call He wanted to access my computer remotely.   I tried to call him after the call it has been rough for me, by dialing * 69 and the recording of the telephone company says it's a 'blocked' number, I asked for a number to call and he tells me that he wants to solve this problem now and won't remember.  I asked where to call from and what state and he wants to argue about the fixing of these so-called errors which receives the "Ministry of Windows.  This happens for about a year about once each month to a month and a half.  I'm tired of his phone calls.  Can someone advise me how to tell if it is a real Microsoft employee/Division # 1.  can #2 someone please pass on to Microsoft management because if he tries to gain illegal access to my computer (hard to believe that he would call for more than a year if it was), it is probably fool other Customers of Microsoft (if it is not a real employee)... I have it has even said once the number is followed by the telephone company which will check for fraud, said, bring them... I asked for him not to call me more and he wants to argue about the correction of the errors until I hang up, then another month goes and I received another call... IS THERE SUCH A SERVICE IN INDIA? .... Please until I get to my end, can someone advise me what legal action can I take because I'm tired of receiving these phone calls from a person who just wants to argue.

It's a scam.   Hang up the phone when you receive calls.

  • Can't boot from USB or CD/DVD to boot.

I'm trying to install a new OS from a bootable DVD that I created. However, my T530 leader not from the DVD. I checked the boot order in the BIOS settings and even explicitly tried to force at the start of my DVD - ROM Sina the F12 boot menu. I was able to boot from this DVD on my other computer.

Any way to diagnose whether my DVD-ROM is defective, or is there maybe some BIOS setting to fix this? I am able to read the disc in Windows, just can not boot from it. The laptop is brand new, just opened it today, so I don't know why something so simple that it would just work.

You must disable startup secure, then tilt the machine mode Legacy BIOS UEFI.

  • When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. How can I stop this?

When I open a link that opens a new Firefox window, it opens 2 tabs instead of one. A tab is the link that I opened and the second tab is just a generic Mozilla tab with links to 12 pages like Facebook, Youtube, etc. This tab opens on top too, so I always have to close to get what I'm looking for. How can I stop this from happening?

Hello. Thanks for all the posts on this topic. I have the same problem, as described by the op. But, while I use Avast, I have NOT the add-on from Astromenda which has been mentioned. However, I have the SB installed toolbar, and it has been recently updated, 29/12. I suspect that it is the culprit, if this problem is in fact not caused by an update of Firefox (my tiles have recently been reset on new tabs, and I suspect that Firefox for this problem).

I am ready to remove the toolbar from the SB, but prefer to keep it (Yes, I admit I'm stupid) If this annoying 'new window = 2 tabs with 'new tab' at the top' would just leave.

Apart from the removal of the toolbar SB... does anyone have suggestions? I don't see that all recently added add-ons/extensions that I don't recognize, apart from the update of the toolbar of SB.

Updated: 5 minutes after this announcement, I disabled the toolbar of SB and restarted Firefox. No change.

  • My iPod classic is synced to my old pc windows how can I send it to my new apple mac - all my music on iPod is uploaded to this topic via ads and bought on iTunes?

My iPod classic is currently synced on my old windows pc - how can I send it to my new Apple Mac without losing any of my music.  All my music is downloaded from the ads?

If you still have your old PC in working condition, with its iTunes library intact, not to use your iPod to transfer the library to your new Mac.  You transfer your data from user (not just your iTunes data) directly from the old PC to the new Mac.

There is an automated system called Migration Wizard, if your system meets the requirements.  Be sure to have a backup of the data.

    Migration of Windows v1.0.5.7 Assistant

Alternatively, for the part of iTunes, this paper outlines how do it manually, using an external drive.

Manage and backup your iTunes media library - Apple Support

To summarize, the first step is to make sure that all your iTunes data is stored in the iTunes folder ("consolidate"), which is located in your folder music user account.  The second step is to copy this folder iTunes on an external drive, to create a backup.  The third step is to restore that backup the iTunes on your new Mac folder.  Launch iTunes to use data from the old PC iTunes; It looks like iTunes running on your old PC, complete with all the songs (and other types of media) and data, such as reading lists, notes, play count, etc.

Your iPod continues to synchronize with it, because for the iPod, it's the same iTunes library (on another computer).  If you using your iPod as a data source, you add your old data to an iTunes library on Mac.  It is NOT complete.  The iPod sees it as a different iTunes library.  iPods are not designed to be your data from iTunes backup.

However, IF the iPod is now the only place where your songs are stored (and you have no other backup), thanks for posting back.

  • Can I use the CD that came with my Palm Z22 to install on my new computer Windows 8 2005?

I'm upgrading from a Dell XP machine on a computer Dell Windows 8.  My old Palm Z22 driver installation CD will work to load the software into my new Windows 8 machine; or do I need to download a new software specifically for Windows 8?

After losing almost three frustrating weekends, I finally got my Z22 to synchronize with Windows 8.  You never answered my first question [can I use the CD that came with my Palm Z22 to install on my new computer Windows 8 2005?], that would have eliminated a lot of uncertainty in my many attempts to synchronize with the download of version 6.2 has recommended you.  Fortunately, I wasn't the original CD with version 4.2, because 6.2 has toured with a bit more clear instructions and a new download of http://www.palmdr.com/windows-7-64-bit-usb-drivers

Thanks for your advice in any case.

  • I can't boot from my cd of Windows. I would like to do a clean install.

Can not do a clean install - Windows CD does not start

    Hey everybody,

    Using XP Pro

Have a problem and I need/want to do a reinstall of Windows. Everything I read says first boot from the CD. Can't seem to get that to happen.

CD player works fine. I can launch the Windows CD, but it says I have a newer version installed what is on the CD and won't let me not re-install.

How can I get to any installation option, with or without formatting and re - install only the operating system or do a full install and re - load HDD to backup data files.

If I format the drive hard, how will I be able to run the Setup program on the CD, if I can't start from there?

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thank you

    Garry

You're welcome Gary and it's easy.

You are now all set and ready to create your new Windows disk. Good work so far.

Open NLite. Select your language, and then click Next. On the next window click on 'Browse' and navigate to the folder of Windows Xp that you created on your desktop. Give Nlite a minute to recognize the version of Windows, and then click Next. In the next screen, there will be a list of items, you can choose to customize the disk. At this point, you want to click on Service Pack and Iso Bootable. See screenshot HERE. Note that the small red dots to the left of the elements becomes green when selected. Once you have selected Service Pack and ISO Bootable, click Next. A browser window will open asking you to navigate to the service pack that you downloaded... Just navigate to the service pack and click on 'open '. Now, click Next. You will be asked if you want to start the process. Click Ok. Give Nlite a few minutes to catch up. Once he held you to the final screen.

When to the final screen make sure you have a blank disc inserted in your CD-ROM. Now, use the drop-down menu to select "Direct Burn". Then click on "burn". See the screenshot HERE. After the burn is finished, restart the computer and boot from the disc. Install Windows.
