  1 - iPhoto has not been uninstalled by the upgrade to El Captain - it is always in your applications folder and works fine (you do not have the current version 9.6.1 - if you do not keep your software up to see date cannot update iPhoto because it is not available in the App Store )

  2 - the first time you launch Photos it should migrate the last iPhoto library used in the pictures - if it is not, or if you want to migrate additional libraries simply do them dragging the Photos icon in the dock - migration details, see How Photos handles content and metadata for iPhoto and Aperture - Apple Support

• Could not open the new photos app after update

  I just updated my MacBook Pro (late 2011) from Yosemite to El Capitan, I am now unable to open the Photos app. I don't have iPhoto as he took in the update. Whenever I try to open the Pictures dialog box pops up saying "an unexpected error has occurred please exit and restart the application. I tried to not reopen several times, no change. I reinstalled the update of El Capitan - still unable to open the photos.
  I tried now Option + Cmde pressed at the launch of the app to fix the library - it gave me the option to repair once but could not find a library, now I can't get this option again.
  Does anyone else have this problem or help? Thank you.

  Moved from iphoto to apple photo with upgrade to el capitan. I also have adobe photoshop elements. I downloaded the images from my camera and saw their photo and jpeg images look awful compared to those loaded into adobe - less detail in low light, washed out colors in shadows and unable to correct? The images in iphoto, I used to get were better (but not quite as detailed as adobe). Is there something wrong with the picture 1.3?

  Photos of IH advanced editing options you may have missed. The editing tab will show some basic settings that if you add more

  Editing tools are all there, but you have to reveal the advanced tools.  They are hidden by default.

  To use the tool of facts highlights & shadows, open the adjustment Panel, then click on the text in blue 'Add' in the upper right corner.  Now add all the advanced settings, you want to use.

  Click the Basel to the right of the 'Light' adjustment to reveal the advanced controls for "Light".

  The downarrows are hidden, unless you hover on the far right of the amounts of the adjustments.

  The scroll bar is also hidden. You can scroll the Panel to view more signals, if they will not fit in the Panel.

• No new photos-memories

  I see an interesting (and annoying) behavior in the memories of the photos app feature.

  Background: I use iCloud photo library. I downloaded the beta version of iOS 10 when GM came out on my 6 s iPhone and my iPad 2 Air. Both had at least a new memory added every day since, sometimes more than one. My wife and I exchanged our 6Ss iPhone and upgraded to the iPhone 7 the launch day. We both restored from an iTunes backup. Now, we only have a single memory (mine is 11, is his September 18) and no news since then. Meanwhile my iPad is still sends me new memories; He even gave me two new today. In addition, my wife put up-to-date MOM his iPad 2 Air on 17 September and has only a memory of the 18, no news since then.

  I am frustrated by this, because it was one of the great features, I wanted to show them (they like their photos) and it does not at all.

  I don't see a way to put 2 pictures side by side on a single screen to easily compare (at 100% resolution) which is the best photo. The Aperture application has this feature, and it is extremely useful. Am I missing something, or there Apple drop this feature viewing?

• How can I disable People and Places in Photos.app@iOS10?

  I frequently get photos under NDA contract, not allowing any electronic assessment content photo due to the protection of data. Thus our admin has stopped any update of iOS10, because the new Photos.app of iOS10 seems to have no switch to disable extraction faces to the 'People' file or folder locations "places".

  Photos scans your library of photos for the faces of the people and adds faces more frequently found in the album of the people.   If the pictures do not show in the media browser, check, if your current photo library has been activated in the system library in pictures > Preferences > General.  'Use as a Photo library system' should be greyed out.

  After you import new photos, it is best to quit the Photos and the application that accesses photos. This will force Photos to update databases of library for the media, and Safari browser or other applications of closing force it to refresh caches read from the media browser.

• Photos from D: drive not showing is not Up in Photos App

  I have 2 sites set up in my library of images.  C:\Pictures and D:\Pictures.  All the pictures I have put in the directory C:\Pictures immediately appear in the new Photos app.  However the photos on my drive D: not will appear in the same Photos app if the folder are in are included in my library of images.   I had actually just a live remote session with Microsoft Support and I was told that it is a limitation of windows 8, which will appear only images located on the C: drive in the Photos app.

  It's * really * the case?  I have a very small SSD drive that I use for installed applications.  All data such as photos, videos and documents are stored on my drive D: (terrabyte), so this means basically I can't use new applications of Photos or videos?

  Yes, the content on the drive can be moved to a folder in the picture library. Given that you do not want to be able to access an external drive using the photo app, use your comments to submit your suggestion.

  2. Press the Windows key + C
  3. Select settings
  4. Select your comments
  5. Select I want to suggest a way to do something better
  6. Select Next
  7. Add your comment
  8. Select submit

  Well, it is not an external drive.  The drive D:\ is an internal hard drive connected via SATA.   In windows 7, I had moved my personal files on the disk D:\Pictures.  So when the folder navigation D:\Pictures actually appear in Explorer as my images since it is the default image library folder.

  I have moved all content of D:\Pictures to D:\TestPictures and added the file TestPictures to the photo library, and now my pictures are appearing in the Photos app.  They did not immediately so I guess that they do not show up until the files have been indexed.

  So the D:\Pictures folder was not indexed (he was reported to BE indexed for several days) or windows 8 has been confused by move me my personal folders on windows 7 to a new directory and moving them to D:\TestPictures solved the problem.

  I've recently updated to IOS 10 and on my iPad I can search people and keywords on the photos app but on my iPhone 5 I did not either of these features so I was wondering should I put anything on or is it meant to be like that?
