  I guess I do not understand your question completely. The remote supports all the features as Apple TV iTunes playlist. Make sure you have 'Home Sharing' enabled in iTunes preferences and on the remote app.

  Difficulties matching "Remote" app (downloaded today) on my iPhone with the new Apple TV 4 6. I followed most of troubleshooting on Apple Support pages, nothing helps. All devices are on the same network. All use the same home sharing account. Apple TV does not appear in the Remote application, however. Even tried to enter the code manually to 4 digits, but, from what I understand online, to do this, I'm supposed to click a button "Remote App", between the "Bluetooth" and the button "Learn remote", in the other devices section, in remote controls and devices on the Apple TV settings.   I think that you need to update your tvOS last, 9.2. The remote application has been added with this release. While there will be a new entry for Remote App, click on it and you will see devices paired and unpaired.
