new tab homepage back in black

Since the last update my new tabs open to home.brandthunder.com/?newtab instead of the blank page that he used. I downloaded the add-on newtaburl and set it to the Virgin, but it always opens on this page. How to return to the blank page?

Start Firefox in Firefox to solve the issues in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance/themes).

  • Open the topic: config page through the address bar and do a search for brandthunder via the filter at the top of the about: config page.
  • Reset all the brandthunder associated prefs which appear "BOLD" (user set) via the context menu to their default values.

I don't know why the development team is so God awful ready on forcing me to use this terrible miniature of the previous pages as the new screen of the tab, but it SUCKS. I use FF because I don't want to be forced to use my browser as I want it to work. Correct this flaw and I would like to give the new tab homepage. 43.0.1 broke the new tab override add on which historically corrected this weakness / FF stock.

Can I assume that your real problem is that the extension new tab replace does not work in Firefox 43?
based on your similar thread in September - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1084993#answer-784907

The developer of this add-on is aware that it is broken - https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/new-tab-override/reviews/769315/ - and says he'll fix it.

"The nature of the lack of the new tab should be without a doubt, opening to what the user has defined for its home page".

You are entitled to your opinion on that, but Mozilla feels differently about what the default should be for the new tab.

My opinion [that does not count be] is that it would be ridiculous to have all of the users 'Homepage' to be the default value for the page tab. How would this work when a user like me has two home pages? Two new tabs open all the time? Or complicate the issue and only open the first home page for the new tab instead?

  • Please can you put the "Open a new tab" button back where he was on the right side of the tabs, or at least give the opportunity to put it there? Thank you.

In the row of tabs along the top of the screen, there was an additional tab with a + in what you clicked to open a new tab at the far right of the tabs. As the tabs still float to the left and new tabs appear on the right, it was (in my opinion), the most logical place for it. However, the only two places I am able to put this "tab" are now on the far left, which is illogical, because the new tab appears on the right, or in the toolbar and other tools. It's enough, but I'd rather see the 'new tab' tab back where she was.

Moreover, the option to put it on the right end of the Ribbon tab did not work up to this latest version of Firefox, but I'm sure you know this!

  • Why did FF open image in a new tab with focus and black background?

Whenever I used to open image in a new tab, it would always appear in the upper left corner, with a white background. Since my upgrade to 11.0, it is now focused on the force with a black background, I hate. How can I change this?

This is a new feature in Firefox to enhance the visibility of the images open in a new tab. However, if you want to disable, you can install https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/old-default-image-style/, which will return the change for you.

  • When I open a new tab, the back button does not work on the second page, I discover - never the second page, regardless of the site.

When I opened a new tab - or when I first open a browser - as soon as I go to a second page, I can't go back to the first. Thus, for example, I opened a new tab. I go to a news site. I click on a title. I can not then go back to the first page of the new site. If I go back to the first page manually (by typing the url, or by opening a bookmark) and then click on the same heading, I'll be able to go back.

The inability to return only ever happens on the second page opens in a new tab or window. At any time, I can go back as normal - but the first page I was on that tab / in this window is erased from history.

This isn't something that's happened only with FF4, either. I first noticed a couple of weeks, but I upgraded shortly after, assuming it was a bug that would set the new browser. But it's always like that. He still refuses to back the second page of the first.

  • Set the thumbnail display of new tab homepage

I want a new window to open with the thumbnails of my favorite sites.

I've implemented the "Home Page" option with "subject: newtab ' and I'm sure that it worked until a few days ago.

I already searched the knowledge base and checked the settings "topic: config" suggested in other topics (http://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/931476) and that they are correctly placed.

    My machine
I have an old macbook with 2 system boots 2008: Leopard and Snow Leopard. I'm sure that this setting works fine on both and now he is not on the boot of Leopard. I know, this operating system is not supported, but I put the ' topic: newtab ' AFTER the last update that notified the system is no longer supported.

Since then, I have not installed any extension or theme: the browser is a stock with the last update of the possible.

    Thanks for the comments.
No I didn't have just a blank page, no button or anything.

Turns out that also on my second boot (Snow Leopard) I suddenly lost the thumbnails on the homepage.

I was able to recover if: I have just to have a "blank Page" in settings (via the button in the pane), closed settings, reopened the window and the value "on: newtab ' and now I have thumbnails back.

I would say that was caused by an update of the OS or Firefox, but Firefox on Leopard does not update more and Leopard either.

Do you mean when you open a new tab, you want to see your regular home page instead of the page of the new integrated tab on Firefox?

41 of Firefox is no longer uses the browser.newtab.url setting in about: config because he was constantly attacked by malware. From 41 of Firefox, you need an add-on to change the new tab page.

Here are a few options (I'm learning more all the time):

    • If you are already using the "Restorer of classic theme" or "Tab Mix Plus" extension: There is an option somewhere (!) in his dialogues of the parameters to select another page in the new tab.

Use only one of these methods at the same time, otherwise there may be conflicts and dysfunctions.

Setting up substitute new tab and new tab custom

After installing one of these extensions, you must use the Options page to set the new desired tab page (instead of use subject: config).

Open the page modules using either:

    • CTRL + SHIFT + a (Mac: Cmd + shift + a)
    • "3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Add-ons

In the left column, click Extensions. Then on the side right, find the new tab replace or custom new tab and click on the Options button. (See first screenshot attached).

    New tab Override

Depending on the size of your screen, you may need to scroll down to enter the address in the form. (See second screenshot attached). For example:

    • (Default) page thumbnails = > subject: newtab
    • Blank tab = > subject: empty
    • Built-in Firefox homepage = > topic: welcome
    • Any other page = > full URL of the page

Then tab or click this form field and you can test using Ctrl + t.

    Custom new tab

It is easy to enter your favourite homepage address. If you check either of the boxes, the expansion will set the focus in the page as well, for example, the cursor will be in the Google search box. (See third screenshot attached). I had to leave Firefox and start it up again before new custom tab started working, but this may have been due to tests so many extensions back to back.

  • How can I make my homepage open in a new tab?

I can't find any simple statement that will let me open open my designated in each new tab homepage. I don't want a blank page and I don't want the mozilla home page to open it.

Firefox does not open the default homepage with a new tab, it opens the new tab page. Used to be a little easy to change that, but not anymore.

In Firefox 41 the pref browser.newtab.url disappeared. This pref was abused by malware so frequently that Mozilla has decided to remove this pref to eliminate this kind of diversion.
You will need an extension like this one to restore.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/new-tab-override/

Or to have your home page as the new tab page, try this extension.
    https://addons.Mozilla.org/en-us/Firefox/addon/new-tab-homepage/

If you are using Classic theme restaurateur, go in the CTR options > tabs (1) article and set your preference for the new tab URL here.

For Super Start , you can use the topic: superstart page.

  • How can I do to open new tabs to my homepage?

The last update has made so many new tabs open to the page with tiles of my frequently visited sites, I'd rather new tabs open to my home page. The menu "New controls tabs" includes options for the tiles of best sites and a blank page, but nothing else. I made the topic: config thing but that doesn't seem to work.

The pref browser.newtab.url is no longer supported in Firefox 41 and later, so you can no longer use this to set the new tab page.

You can watch this extension if you use the home page as the new tab page.

You can watch this extension to set the new tab page:

You can set the parameter URL new tab through Options/preferences of the extension on the subject: addons page.

Restorer of classic theme includes this feature as well.
In current versions of CTR (1.3.9+), you will find "the Url of the page new tab ' in the section tabs (1).

You can use these special pages for the new tab page or use the URL of a web page.
the new default tab with the tiles page is on: newtab

    • the default homepage is Subject: Home
    • to a blank page, you can use Subject: vacuum
    • Super Start, you can use topic: superstart
  • Opning a new tab gives a white screen instead of my homepage (which he showed last week). How can I fix?

It no longer seems to be an option to set the default page for a new tab. I want to by default to my home page as before. I passed on the user forum and followed the advice to install a "Newtaburl" but it did not work.

Hi, 41 of Firefox, you must use an add-on like tab override (browser.newtab.url replacement), to make changes to the page tab.

Once installed, open the Add-ons (Ctrl + Shift + A) Manager > Extensions, and then look for the new tab override and click Options to set your preference.

Note, if you want only the new tab to be the same as your home page, you can use the Add on new tab homepage instead.

You will then need to restart Firefox for all changes to take effect.

  • Yahoo appears when I press the new tab now and continues to do so even if I change it back

I tried the subject: config and the removal of Yahoo / change in about: newtab - it works, but in about 30 minutes, it is for Yahoo. I checked add-ins and extensions, and the only thing I'm running is Norton. I even tried to go back to the original version of Firefox, in case Yahoo has uploaded a new modified version, and that seems to work, yesterday. But today, when I clicked on the new tab - Yahoo back again. Nothing to do, it seems made a difference - it's worse than a virus, as it seems to keep regenerating itself. Can anyone help please?

I have "think THAT"I could find a resolution. I included here for info to others.
Went to the control panel in Windows
    Choose to uninstall a program
Clicking the column installed on everything in date order.
Noticed that at the same time I installed another piece of software a 2nd piece has been installed without my permission. It was called Hub a lot of results.
Selected many results Hub and uninstalled.
To do this, I noticed that it closed Firefox.
After uninstalling, I restarted the PC, just in case he left something in memory
Then once it restarts again, I uninstalled Firefox (tbh, I probably didn't need to do that, but wasn't any risk)
Rebooted again (probably no need to do)
Once the PC itself started, I installed a version of Firefox.

Now, fingers crossed, it worked. If it has, I'll come back here tomorrow and this will mark as resolved.
