Nexus 7 K of the group management interface

Dear,

with regard to the release of the group management interface, if I configured a vlan intervace to be as an interface of management for a (the default vdc) vdc

When I connected to this vdc via telnet, can I switch to any other vdc? (Suppose I have the role of the Admin that allows me to enter and config all the VCC)

If possible, so that I don't have to do a management dedicated to each VDC ip

I do that only if I want to give an account of the vdc admin to allow some users access to the VLAN specific only, is it true?

Hello

Yes, it is possible. When you log on as an administrator and you want to join another vdc, you simply use this command:

SwitchTo vdc

This will lead to the vdc. If you want to return to the admin vdc, just type "switchback."

  • How to set up the AP Manager interface on vWLC

    Hello all,.

I want to bulid a laboratory wireless env, vWLC is used, but I can't find where I could configure AP Manager interface vWLC.

How do I creat an interface of the AP Manager?

    Thank you for your help.

1.How many APs could this Dynamic AP Management support ?
No limitation on the interface. It all depends on how can license AP you have on your vWLC
2.We can't creat AP manager interface on vWLC like real WLC , right ?
Yes, good. New platforms of controller, there is only the interface of management exist. There is no separate AP Manager interface.
     3.How can I distinguish my AP's "Country Code" ?
If you look at your reference number AP (see the version should also give this), it indicates a regulatory domain (for example - A,-E, n, z). This means that your vWLC set up with a country code in this regulatory area. • The connection manager interface

    Hi all

I'm just around trying with the Oracle connection manager. The reason is I want to use it as a firewall to dynamically enable our developers access to our databases of production. Now, I'm looking for a way to add and remove the list of rules dynamically. First I thought that I could script using cmctl, but then I realized that cmctl has no command to add/remove the rules at cman.ora

Is it mayby any other way to dynamically add/remove the rules? The Administration should be made by people who don't know much about IT, so I have to provide them with a tool for that kind of work.

    Thanks in advance

I wrote my own script to manage the connection manager

    Thanks anyway

  • What is the best practice for the double management interfaces?

    Hello community!

I'm upgrading to a few host ESX to ESXi 4.1U1 4.0 in the coming weeks. My question is about how to configure the management networks. Obviously in ESX 4.0 Classic I have a Service Console port (on vSwitch0) group and a group of ports VMkernel (also on vSwitch0) which provides my host with SC and vmotion capabilities, as we all know. Note: my vSwitch0 has two vmnic attached to it, is pending and is active. That's just how we have our double installation of switches, so it must be active / standby.

I got to thinking (book the great from HA and DRS deepdive Duncap Epping and Frank Denneman), that I should consider carefully when my network mangement I improve these hosts to ESXi 4.1 - which of course done away with the Service Console and use the vmkernel instead.

The question is, in which best practices and account with my setup: I have two vmkernel ports? If so, how should I configure each for traffic management and vmotion vmkernel?

I think it will be a good discussion to have.

    Thank you all,

    Matt

The NIC vSwitch0 value active/active, the vswif (and future vmkernel management) team of NIC Active vmnic6 and vmnic1 ensures and leaves the vMotion vmkernel NIC team as is.

This will allow you to use two physical network interface cards at the same time while having a failover plan and keep your physically separate management and vMotion traffic.

    In the end:

    vSwitch: vmnic1 vmnic6 active, active.

VMK (Mgt): active eve of vmnic1 vmnic6.

VMK (vMotion): active standby, vmnic6 vmnic1.

    Try the following.

Open settings and select System. Select food and sleep, and then click additional power settings - in the next window, click on "Choose what the power button" in the left pane.

In the next window, click on "Change settings that are currently unavailable" (close), then Remove the check mark from the box against 'Turn on a quick start (recommended) '. Click on the button Save the settings, and then close the open windows and restart the laptop.

When windows has reloaded, download the driver directly from Intel IMEI on the following link, unzip the and run the installer.

  • EqualLogic group member network configuration error: "management interface should not be on the san subnet.

    Hello

We currently have new EqualLogic 6100 device with this network configuration:

    Director of the IP - 192.168.0.2 (VLAN1).

    Member network config:
    eth0 - 192.168.0.3 (VLAN1)
    eth1 - 10.10.10.3 (VLAN2)
    eth2 - 10.10.10.4 (VLAN2)
    eth3 - 10.10.10.5 (VLAN2)
    ETH4 - empty

I would attribute 192.168.0.4 to eth4, but received the error: "management interface should not be on the san subnet.

I am sure that all interfaces eth has access to the VLAN1 and VLAN2, mean error indicates that eth4 should not access VLAN2 and only access the VLAN1 on the switch?

Or eth0 should also have access to the VLAN2 only to reconfigure eth0 and eth4?

    Thank you

    > The group eating IP should be in iscsi VLANS?

    Yes!

Note: If configure you an EQL it will ask an iSCSI port because nothing is more necessary to bring it up. The doest previous EQLs have a dedicated Mgmt Port and later, you can convert the last ethX as a MGMT port. This is the reason why configure you ISCSI at the beginning. (Think of a mixed group of newer and older models, and you get a picture)

OK... once again it is the one and only member of the Group and there is making the production host connected to the right?

The change of IP address, to a 3rd. subnet for temporary use.

-Do not touch eth0-3 and the IP address of the group now

-Configure the MGMT port and IP address management in the tempr group. Subnet. Use the Config-> Adv. Group-> network MGMT. You can change the MGMT Port of the Member, and the address IP of MGMT

-For the registration of the configuration, you will lose access. You must place your admin PC in the templ. subnet so

-Connect to the GroupMgr with temp again. INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

-Now you can change the IP address of group 10.10.10..x

-Now you can change eth0 10.10.10.2

-At the end, you can change the address IP of the Group MANAGEMENT, as well as the MGMT Port to 192.168.0.x

-Change the IP address of your admin PC rear

A failover, you should consider to hang a serial cable the active controller of the EQL. Use 9600,8,1, N with your favorite terminal program (putty.exe on windows). All the steps, you can perform from the command line.

If this group and the only member not in production, but you can reset the config and restart from the beginning.

    Kind regards

  • The ASA Independand IP management interface

    Hello

I have a pair of ASA 5510 running like a pair of failover 8.4.

Currently, we have 3 interfaces prod and are also using the management interface in the form of a group management interface.

AS I joined the two using failover, the interface of management on the second ASA took the IP address of the first. Is it possible to exclude this HA interface so that we can manage, via IP, each device independently? The main reason for this is that two devices sit in different DC so we have another out-of-band to each site network.

    Thank you

    Anthony

    Hello

I have not personally at least knows of anyway to do this because the devices share the same configuration and switch interface IP address depending on which device is active in the pair.

To my knowledge each physical interface that is not configured for subinterfaces should be part of the default recovery. I guess in your case, even if it is not accomplish what you're after, you should probably configure "without monitor-interface", if not, to my knowledge, it might affect the State of failover?

I don't know if there really is a way to make it work as you want. I think Cisco assumes that the management interface is like any other data interface in failover and it requires connectivity between sites where pairs of ASA.

I guess it would be better if the Console port has been used for this purpose and you had a separate device you can remote access to the Console of the machine you want.

If you want to send commands to the other ASA the failover and link then it is possible

For example, you can connect to an ASA and execute commands from the failover link

    exec failover partner

But again, I don't know if this will be of any help in your situation.

  • Questions on the WLAN and AP Manager interface

    Hello

In fact, I was searching in the internet for more information on the (the AP Manager interface), I've only had the following link on the configuration of WLC.

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/WCS/7.0/Configuration/Guide/7_0admin.html

-If you have more information about this interface, share with me pls

My second question is about the WLAN. In fact, I connected the AP lightness to the controller directly via a private network and configured WLAN with SSID. The question im face that customers can see the SSID, but can not be associated. I mean the packets sent is complete but the packets received too low, so I can't access the net.

How can I solve this problem?

Should I SWITCH to connect 3 AP light to the controller and the location device? or its just to connect these APs and the controller directly to our private network, because we use the same subnet.

    Thank you

    Hello

The link below can give u some info and you can be knowing this as well

    http://www.Cisco.com/en/us/docs/wireless/controller/5.2/configuration/guide/c52mint.html#wp1117288

Then regarding the WIFI network... If you are able to see the SSID but not able to associate... What is the quthentication and the encryption is we help? We receive the IP or not?

Private network means? the WLC will connect to the switch, right?

Let me know if that answers your question...

  • ESXi 5, link group, VLAN and the Management Interface

    Greetings-

I suspect that the answer to my question is: 'Buy an another NIC Intel' but here goes:

I have a server ESXi here with 2 Intel GigE NIC, connected to the same switch managed ahead of Cisco. A (vmnic0) NETWORK card is connected to the VLAN 200 while the second (vmnic1) is connected to the VLAN 300. Ports on the Cisco are defined to access mode.

Internally, the server ESXi, vmnic0 is connected to the 'public' vSwitch, while vmnic1 is connected to the "private" vSwitch

I also updated the ESXi management IP 24 even as private vSwitch. This is the key, I suspect.

I tried to combine the two GigE interfaces in a connection unique 2xGigE and trunk two VLAN 200 and 300 through it. After struggling through the menus on the ESXi console INTERFACE, I managed to get the IP management save and who responded and was able to connect to the server with the vSphere client. I did it in X'ing the vmnic0 and vmnic1 in the configuration interface, then setting VLAN 300 in the configuration of VLANS. But I could not the team/bundle correctly in the two vSwitches vmnic interfaces. I could never attach a vmnic to one of the switches.

Can I do all this with only 2 GigE interfaces and maintain access to IP management?

    SWITCH CISCO < == trunk w / VLAN 200 300 2xGigE == > SERVER ESXI

    VLAN 200 is a 28 audience

    VLAN 300 is a private 24 (for example: 192.168.100.0/24)

    IP management is 192.168.100.2

I need to create a third VLAN for the management IP address and move? If I master, say, VLAN 400 down to the ESXi server, use another block 192.168 for his IP address, I'll be able to take the vmnic0 and vmnic1 and team on the TWO vSwitches?

Always follow me? ... :-) If I can clarify this, by all means ask. I apologize for the sort of random babbling here. Thank you!

You can not have your two vmnic (physical NIC ports) connected to two vSwitches and at the same time have a "grouping". You need to delete one of the vSwitches and recreate the vSwitch remaining trade. VLAN will insulate them even different networks.

Thanks for the pointers; I finally had the opportunity to try this out and it works as expected. I EF you the 'right answer' but apparently the forum won't let me since you already have an answer of "useful".

Nice that you got it working! When you perform the actual configuration with vSwitch Hash IP and physical switch LAG config, it might be a little difficult to do things in the correct order to not lose connection to the ESXi host.

  • vShield Manager interface network & group of port / vlan

    Hello:

I'm new to vShield and looking to use it in our environment. I read the documentation and seeks to install the first part, the Device Manager vShield. By reading the docs, it specifies the management interface for the vShield Manager is in its own group of port. Why is this? Is it okay to put this interface in a group of existing port? Is it possible in a port with another management SMV Group (vCenter, etc.)? Also, is it better practice to have this in a standard vs dvswitch, or isn't it important? I was looking through posts and the other docs and so far I don't see a clear reason why it must be in its own group of port.

So far, the only element that we will consider is vShield Endpoint, for now. We have no plans to watch App or Edge, etc.

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello

The Manager can be put on any standard or distributed port group. Do not create any new groups-port. The only thing that is necessary to access vCenter/SSO and DNS, NTP server (mirror).

There is no need to create a new. IMHO, this could be a failure in the doc.

    Kind regards
