No access to the RAM, the swap file only phisycal

I have problems in a VSphere, ESX4 + VCenter4.0 environment.

Each virtual machine is a file with the total amount of memory assigned, and the memory of phisycal has no use.

Similarly, if there is only a single virtual machine with 4 GB of RAM assigned to a hypervisor ESX4 with 32 GB of RAM, the entire memory is interleaved in a file (.vswap). The only way to assign the actual RAM is to make a reservation. Then the amount of the reservation is pointed to the RAM and the rest to the vswap.

The ESX4 boarded on HP DL380/DL360 G5 and the STRP OS irrelevant.

Any ideas?

This is perfectly normal behavior.

Without booking a vswp file always get created (in which case the balloon pilot needs).

However, this does not mean that the memory is actually swapped.

  • The initialization of the swap file to virtual disk periodically (40% of the time +/-) fails to start Windows

    Greetings-

For the past year or so I put my Windows 7 32-bit, 8 GB RAM system to initialize the page automatically on a virtual disk file (in order to reduce the physical disk reads/writes and to speed up the access to the page files).

Here's how I set up: I installed Dataram Ramdisk and configured to use memory beyond 4 GB (which, as everyone here knows, 32-bit Windows can not otherwise use) as the ramdisk.  In setting up manually formatted the 4 GB unallocated space virtual drive as an NTFS volume and it gave the letter a: (what else!). Then I got the software save an image file of the ramdisk formatted my hard drive F:. Additional configuration of the software wants to initialize the virtual disk to start and immediately copy the image file to the virtual disk, thus creating a 4 GB NTFS formatted volume a:. (Incidentally, I also use the virtual disk to the cache of the browser and the print spooler). The theory here is flawless. But to make it work in practice, the virtual disk must be initialized and the image file copied into ramdisk (making it a formatted disk R :) front Windows initializes the pagefile.

It runs about 60% of the time, but for the remaining 40 percent Windows gives an error message indicating that Windows has created the page file in a temporary location (it's always the C: drive, the pagefile in general where default.). The only reasonable explanation I see why it fails is that, for nearly 40% of my computer boots window wants to initialize the page file before the ramdisk is ready to receive. What I don't understand is why that happens.

This happen to my main question: is it possible to control the Windows boot sequence so that the ramdisk is initialized and the filename of the image copied to him on a basis consistent before Windows wants to initialize the page file? Operationally, I guess it boils down to whether it is possible, during each startup sequence, to delay initialization of the page files or to move the virtual boot record earlier in the sequence. If so, how to do that? If not, can someone explain why the order of the respective boots usually works, but does not reach a good amount as well?

Ideas on this would be appreciated.

Create a small paging file to 20 MB on the boot volume (the partition where the Windows files are installed) this way the session manager will be able to start the Windows session and create additional paging files without complaining.  You can have more than one paging on several disks, Windows will favour the less busy the disk paging file.

  • Why some items in 'Open an existing project' have just the name of the project and others have access to the entire file path?

I have SP1 2012 LabVIEW and on the main screne of LabVIEW selecrt "show projects".

Why some elements of 'Existing Open' (project) have just the name of the project and others have access to the entire file path?

Examples of two lines in the list of projects.

    Ping.lvproj (with a path: C:\Users\mlevine\Documents\MPCE EQT\EQT Software\Ping.lvproj)

C:\Users\mlevine\Documents\Common package Mission trainer (CMPT) \SUW Surface Warfare\Weapon permission Panel (WAP) \WAP LabVIEW Software\WAP fire authorization server 28 April 2015

No chance, it's because I made a copy of this software and stored on a network drive power off and it went out of this network drive?

So if LabVIEW sees two or more versions of the same software, he decides to use the name to differentiate between full path?

I'd still rather it shows just the name of the project and if you hover over the name it shows the full path.

    Thank you

    Mark

If you have opened a project of the same name from a different location, it is when it shows the full path both - in this case showing just the name of the project would not help because it would be the same thing!

  • How to replace the SWAP file. SYS that bulky and bulky?

    Hello

My question is how to replace the SWAP file. SYS that is bulky and bulky?

Is it possible to "BRING" different "restore points" as separate files and reduce in size for the management and portability?:

The simple answer to your question is no!

Please provide a copy of your system information file. Type the system information in the search box above the Start button and press the ENTER key (alternative is select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, system information). Select file, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Not to place the cursor in the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new information file system each time system information is available. You must allow a minute or two before the file is completely filled before exporting a copy. • Cache host / location of the Swap file

I thought to move the files to a local SSD disk swap. My hosts are not really short memory, that I was just trying to save space on the SAN by moving Exchange out of the data store files. Is there a place any allowing the host Cache option if I move to the local SSD disk swap files?

    Evening,

    A few points to consider:

When you say that the swap files do you have the virtual machine swap or Exchange against guests.  I would advise against the local Exchange against guests being on ssd for reasons HA.

If you mean that the virtual machine swap file, this file is created when the virtual machine is running and is the size of the virtual memory of the virtual machine - any booking.  Put this file on ssd local has two benefits:

    1. swap because of the speed speed local ssd

    2. do not store your san (a requirement of your original question)

Now, please keep in mind that this file is only used during the excessive demands of memory operations.  So, if you have zero on commit on the memory, they will never be used #1 do not really have an advantage.  If you find yourself with free' place san ing.  If it is essential for you, then of course do and by all means turn the swap feature to the host cache.  (Good article on it here http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2011/08/18/swap-to-host-cache-aka-swap-to-ssd/)  If you have ssd and you want to see the performance of your SSD where no more if hire you may just want to wait for 5.5 and use vSphere Flash Read Cache (article here that & #8217; s new in vSphere 5.5 storage |) VMware vSphere Blog - VMware Blogs)

Please let me know if that answers your question.

    Thank you

  • HP DL360 with ESXi - local disks required for the SWAP file?

    Hello

Can someone answer this question right ahead please?

When you buy a new HP DL360 with ESXi embedded you need hard to host a file of any nature or can the server work without local disks at all?

    See you soon.

Hi, Local storage is not required. You can create the SWAP file on the external data store. Please go through the link http://www.vmware.com/files/pdf/vmware_esxi_architecture_wp.pdf (number of page 4). See you soon!

  • mess with the location of the swap file

    Hello

I now have in my environment little ' don't mess with swapfile in one of my groups. It was ealier configured as cluster DRS/HA, with this swap file setting must be different (store swapfile in the location defined by the ESX host) on the data store. And each host is defined in different way :/ We have the configuration option to store this file on the shared data store, second only to configure anything, third takes place on their local disks and I am confused. What is recommended for different swapfile to installation location? Must it be placed within the virtual machine, or perhaps on dedicated action/lun? If during the individual, when the recommendation applies? If the e / s is high, or perhaps because of different things?

Thank you in advance for ideas and best practices.

    Kind regards

Why a local storage for swap files would be useful while using NFS?

Just to reduce network traffic (side NFS) and the latency on the access of swap.

  • Access to the shared file on JB

On my previous phone, a Droid X running GB, I was able to access the shared files on the networks of my home and office via an option in the shared folders in the file manager. I don't see point in GB.

Any help with this would be appreciated.

Go to the game store and get a file management application. Most of them will give you this functionality. I like Astro File Manager and I also know that it doesn't have this feature. I hope this helps.

  • Could what harm be if the swap file is deleted manually?

In order to better perform on the drive C: of HDD (1), I put the drive V: on HDD (2) for virtual memory.

If I have window shutdown properly without going into sleep / hibernation, I would like to know if I delete the file manually on V: drive, what harm could it be?

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions :>

so if I'm going to restore the image of the OS to the C: drive, I can delete the Page file of formatting of the partition, which keep the pagefile.  On other words, also for a long time that the window is not start, so I can format the partition, who keep the pagefile, when Windows XP restarts, and can not find file, window regenerate another page file again, it would be correct?

    Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thank you, to all the world a lot of suggestions :>

OK, swap file contains nothing when your computer is off. all it is is the placeholder. so it can be deleted.

and Yes windows xp will always make a new. I tried to disable the pagefile once and he continues to make a new: P

Even if you try to delete the page file while windows is running, it will not work and windows will tell you that it is used by another person or program.

    -Alex

will test to see if the pagefile is spilled in hiberfil.sys hibernation occurs during or not *.

  • No access to the personal files of Windows 7 to the disc format hard using a new computer that connects with a USB 2.0 cable to SATA/IDE in Windows 8

I have a HDD that has been removed from a computer that does not work and I try to access my files staff on it. When the drive is connected, it appears as two items in Explorer: 'system Reserved (f)' and 'disk space (g) '. This drive has been connected to my new computer using a USB 2.0 to SATA/IDE cable.

I can see all the program files and public folders in the path (g), but not one of my staff, including music, documents, photos, etc.. The path (f) does not seem to access anything whatsoever.

My new computer using Windows 8, the hard drive, I'm trying to access Windows 7.

This seems to be a security problem, that I have no idea on how to fix. I tried enabling 'total control' in the tab 'security' in the properties, what has not changed the situation.

All solutions/advice would be much appreciated.

    Thank you.

    Hi David,

    1. What is the brand and model of the hard drive?

    2. do you get an error message/code?

3 have you tried to connect the hard drive to a different USB port?

4 have you tried the search for files by using the search function?

This problem may be caused by the virus or files might be hidden.

    Method 1:

Scan the hard drive for viruses:

    Reference:

    Microsoft safety scanner

    http://www.Microsoft.com/security/scanner/en-us/default.aspx

Note: The data files that are infected must be cleaned only by removing the file completely, which means that there is a risk of data loss.

    Method 2:

    Follow these steps and check:

    a. press the Windows key + X

    b. Select Control Panel and folder options.

    c. in the view tab, select Show hidden files, folders and disks and click on apply and then OK.

    d. check if you can see the files on the hard drive.

I hope this helps. If the problem persists, you can write to us and we will be happy to help you further.

  • What to do with free mini PCIe - Flash for the swap file

    Hello

in my T500, there is a free mini near the location of SIM location PCIe, but that's only half of length. I found an SSD at SuperTalent in these Dimensions. Someone out there who has tried to use this slot for storage, for example $TEMP or swap file?

    Kind regards

    Ronny

It will not work. This SSD is designed for the Dell Mini 9, which uses a special type of mini PCI-e slot [FLASH_CON]. This slot machine is connected to a PATA or SATA controller on the motherboard.

The DSS will not work on PCI-e standard minis housing because they are not connected to a PATA or SATA controller.

I think that half height mini PCI-e slot is used for Intel Turbo Memory.

I know that there was a problem at least on an older instance for the shell, however in the latest versions is should be fixed. Have you tried with the proxy as parameter suggests the error message? Also "-d" flag provide you additional details of debugging. Then try something like:

    java-jar javacloud.jar - user username - fs - id oracletrialXXXX-TR javatrialXXXX - dc US2 - hp host: port d

I already backed up the files on another drive and I need to know if I unplug and do not take into account the original USB and attemnpt to access the files copied from another disk will be the paths automatically change?

For example, if I have a folder with a path

and try to access the same files with the original drive path change to

Disc 2 / folder with the local files / localdreamweaverfolder

    will there be a problem?

    R

You must change the site definition to point to the new location on the new drive. You should be golden, once you do this.
