• LR 5.5 on Windows 8.1-'Help' does not work, or "Check for updates".

  I just installed LR 5.5 on Windows 8.1.  It is a Virgin installation - no version of Lightroom has never been on this computer.  Items 12 is on this computer.  When I ran Lightroom, it wants to convert the elements catalog, so I leave it.  No errors.  While I'm not new to the elements, I am brand new to LR, so I started to use the 'help '.  By selecting 'Lightroom help...   Uninstall/reinstall just LR 5.5 was not enough.  I uninstalled, downloaded, once again, from Amazon, then installed.  The two issues I mentioned have been fixed.  Another problem that I did not mention seems to have been fixed.  After the initial installation, I was unable to export a file.  It seemed to make the tail of the task, forever.  After the uninstall/download/installation, the same export operation now works.

  Such a download is usually recorded in a updates or updates folder in the program folder or the Firefox application.
  You can delete this folder to cancel the download.

  You can manually reset the software update feature by closing Firefox and remove the file "updates" (which seems you have done) and the two files "active - update.xml" and "updates.xml" - these are in the installation (C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox) directory or in the profile folder (C:\Documents and Settings\nom_utilisateur\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\something.default).

  Hi, I use Win Vista Ultimate 32-bit sp1.  I have KIS2009, A Squared Anti Malware, MalwareBytes Anti Malware installed.  All showing my system is clean.  I ran MSRT analysis to light, and he pointed out that my system is clean also.

  Error code 80080005.

  Can any ideas on how I fix? I've had this problem for over 3 months now and cannot find information on Microsoft Support Website.

  Usually the "Windows is unable to Check For Updates" error message produced always of the blocker window update connection attempt.

  1. first of all, please check that there is no any third-party firewall preventing Windows Update to communicate with "update.microsoft.com.

  2. check if Windows Firewall is blocking the update of Windows.

  error occurred is all I ever get when I use the Help toolbar selection, "check for updates".

  2. are you referring to the Windows updates?
   
  Follow the steps and check if that helps.
