No Dell Datasafe option

I'm trying to restore the computer to factory conditions by following the instructions in dell, here: http://www.dell.com/support/troubleshooting/us/en/04/KCS/KcsArticles/ArticleView?docid=266287

However, when I get to step 4, there is no "Dell DataSafe restore and DataSafe Backup Options and emergency", option.  See attached screenshot.  How can I return the computer to factory conditions?  The last restore point is yesterday, so it does not work.

I'm in administrator mode.

Dell Inspiron 15R N5110, two years old.

Hi 300blk,.

I apologise for the inconvenience. If the option "Dell DataSafe restore and DataSafe Backup Options and emergency", does not, I suspect the reflection is damaged and you may need to reinstall the operating system manually. Please find the link below to manually install the operating system:

  • Dell DataSafe - 'Create System Recovery' does not recognize my USB flash drive

    Hello

I just set up my new laptop Inspiron and 'Dell DataSafe Local Backup Basic Edition' pops up advising me to "Create system recovery media" restore my system to its critical failure of hard disk factory settings.

It gives me the option to save this on a disk or a USB Flash drive.  I have a drive hard laptop "Western Digital My Passport Essential' that I would use for this, that's why I chose the option of USB Flash drive.  However, I get a message "no USB key not found.

Can someone tell me what I need to do to store the backup recovery system on my laptop hard drive?  (I know a recordable DVD will be probably easier, but I did not and do not want to buy a bunch of them just for that!)

    Any notice received with gratitude.

    Thank you

  • Microsoft Windows error message: "Dell DataSafe 2.0 has stopped working".

On my new laptop purchased recently, I get an error message from Microsoft Windows: "Dell DataSafe 2.0 has stopped working.  A problem caused the blocking of the program works correctly.  Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. "I then select the" close program"button to close the message.  But, no info additional re: a solution is always provided and within a few seconds the error message recurs, repeatedly.  It's maddening, it goes without saying.  My DataSafe account is current and operational.  I can't find any info on the site of Dell re support: this error, probably because it's a message of Windows...?

    But it's a Dell software!

  • [SOLVED] How to disable Dell Datasafe Local Backup

The "Dell Datasafe Local Backup" program that appears in the status bar system on new Dell computers is not started in one of the methods traditionally used in Windows.  For this reason, the right way to prevent it from running at startup is not known, and most of the advice I found on the Internet suggests to uninstall the program completely, either intentionally it paralyzes by moving, deleting, or renaming one or the other files or folders it uses.  Instead, the right way to turn it off is to turn the "SoftThinks Agent Service" using the services Control Panel - specifically, by changing the startup type for this service of "Automatic" (delayed start) on "manual".  I'm posting this info here in the hope that other people will benefit from this information, and to stop the proliferation of bad advice such as what I found by searching for my solution.

Your solution is much appreciated.  I do not use the Dell DataSafe local backup, and it seemed to bog down the boot process.  Thank you.

Please note: Dell DataSafe Local Backup 2.0 is not offered through my Dell downloads. and it's not offered on the normal drivers and updates web page. Thank you.

I just finished a "chat" with Dell technical support, and I got my answer:

As I suspected, Dell licenses this software (possibly from Symantec) and Dell license does not allow to offer the software separately from the download of the factory. Therefore, if DataSafe Local Backup not shipped with your computer, you may not get it.

The version of DataSafe Local Backup included with the download of the factory is fundamental; There are two additional versions: Pro and RAID1. Neither one is free, but you might be able to buy from Dell.

  • test the recovery of Dell DataSafe Local Backup

    Hello

I searched Dell support forum, but only found audio and video material.  Weird, maybe it's me.
So I'm sorry if I'm posting in the wrong forum.

I have a Dell desktop computer.  I used Dell DataSafe Local Backup to create recovery content on USB flash drive.  The system came with the operating system on a DVD.  So I rely on this backup software.

I had to test the USB recovery on a virtual machine.

So, I tested the USB recovery in a virtual machine.  And, in the virtual machine it Dell DataSafe Local Backup put my recovery on drive E and I can't start.  Screenshot below.

I don't know what to do to complete the Dell DataSafe Local Backup test to confirm if it works or not.

If you can help I will appreciate it.

    Thank you.

    Hi Nohellphiccup,

Dell has replaced this utility with Dell backup and restore (DBAR). My suggestion would be to use it to create your recovery media.

  • Cannot re - install Windows7 from USB key created with Dell Datasafe Local Backup

    Hello

I created Dell Datasafe Local Backup recovery media and stored on a USB key.

However my laptop Dell Inspiron has only USB 3.0 ports so when I try to boot on the USB it tells me: "cannot find the image of system recovery. "If you try to restore your pc from a USB 3.0 (blue) USB Port please connect to another USB Port, restart your PC and try Recovery.

If my laptop has no former USB 2 ports and, apparently, Windows 7 doesn't come with native support USB 3 so how can I re - install my system using the USB that I made Dell Datasafe Local backup?

I tried to make a set of Dell Datasafe DVD, but it is not I think that there is a bug in the routine of Datasafe Local Backup DVD recovery media.

Am I better off Dell asking to send me a re-installation OEM DVD set? How would I do that?

    Thank you.

  • Limit on recovery with Dell DataSafe Local disks

Is there a limit on the number of sets of recovery disks that I can do with the software Dell DataSafe Local provided on the Inspiron 17R we come to buy.   I did a set when the machine was first started.   After you install Norton Antivirus, MS Office and other software, I decided that a 2nd copy of recovery disks would be desirable, because no support Windows 7 installation is provided by Dell.

    Hi SCMBob1,

So there is no limit on how many times you can create recovery media. For example, you can create multiple copies of recovery media. However, the recovery media is created on a recovery partition and it does not matter if you create media recovery before or after the installation of the software. If you use the recovery media to restore your computer, it will restore the computer as long as you plant, and you need to reinstall the software.

    I hope this helps.

  • Windows backup from Dell datasafe local upward

I recently bought a computer from Dell desktop with windows 7.  One of the first things I did was set up all my settings backup / schedule in Windows.  I used the Windows recommended default settings regarding data is saved and set my backup on external drive WD attached location.  Everything seems to work very well.

That said, this machine has also installed backup software (Dell Datasafe local backup) which does its thing and data backup in a partition on the 'C' drive to the Dell factory.  My question is if I have install Windows to backup my data on an external drive, even do I the Dell Datasafe local backup program at all?  There are fears the program is using the space on my C drive and if the C drive should plant having the backup of information about this seems little useless for me anyway.

    Thank you!

    Hi len62,

the short answer is Yes you do not need datasafe, there is never two much back ups. as you never know when something will go wrong. and datasafe allows you repiar your system without losing the personal data or files. If your printer dell made a backup is corrupt then you have windows upward to fall back on and the opisite also apply. I am attaching the support link explianing what the in dell datasafe and benefits http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=ca&cs=cabsdt1&dl=false&l=en&s=bsd&docid=62A5FEC442F5C1CBE040AE0AB8E17091&doclang=en

  • System Dell DataSafe recovery media will not identify key USB

I am trying to create a system restore USB recovery and DataSafe does not recognize my USB.  I use a 16g SanDisk Cruzer stick, and it does not recognize any of the 4 ports USB (2.0) on my system I use it (No. USB key ' detected').  My system recognizes the stick very well... I can drag and drop onto the key using Windows Explorer.  I tried to format the stick in NTFS or FAT32 and still no go.  Well, to tell you the truth, I guess I can go out and get another USB key.  In fact, DataSafe acknowledges a Lexar stick I have, but it's just a stick of 1 g and I came out and me a larger stick knowing at least 9g would be necessary.  DataSafe does not recognize that SanDisk USB sticks that anyone knows of?  Did I just waste $ 10 on a USB?

    02TBIRD,

You can find the version number of Dell backup and recovery by opening the application by clicking on the "?" in the upper right corner and go to the 'about '.  If your version number is older than 1.6.2.4, you must click on the "Update" tile in the main screen.

We have solved many problems of detection of backup and restore Dell v1.6.2.4 USB.

When you go to the "Update" page, make sure that the "Automatically check updates" is checked.  In this way, you will automatically get updates as we post them.

  • Reference Dell datasafe stops to make the recovery disk

    Hi people,

Trying to help my sister with her new studio laptop 1558. After having turned it on for the first time, he asked to do the recovery disk and so I him supplied with some DVDs. Said it takes 2 and the first disc was recorded, but then he gets to 73 percent for its verification process and just stops?

Had to force it quit and tried again and stops exactly the same place verification of 73%.

    Any ideas?

    See you soon

Secure Dell data to do this on a large number of machines. It doesn't matter if it's a laptop or desktop. It stops at 73% because it cannot check the engraving. If it cannot check it out, this means that it is not a good copy. I saw this on several machines. Roxio burn 1.0 has a conflict. burning with Windows program. Technical support is aware of the problem.

Contact tech support and tell them you want the free OS disk, because the software does not work well. . If you said no technical support or wants to charge you for the disk, come back here and let us know. I will go through a moderator, just as I had to do with my pc.

Try upgrading the bios. It allows in some cases, but not all.

    Thanks, Teddi
