  • Error message: "the address book failed to load. Outlook Express is incorrectly configured, please re-install. "at the start of XP and the machine.

After uninstalling my XPSp3 o.e., I started getting the following error message: "the address book failed to load. Outlook Express is incorrectly configured, please re-install. "at the start of XP and the machine.

Uninstalling included 7 entries registry to remove all the * files dbx and files *.wab addressbook, except himself. After uninstalling and receipt of the error message above, I tried to use my CD of XP OS to re - install O.E. as a component of Microsoft without success.

I upgraded to Outlook 2007 and imported to the address book of O.E. successfully before uninstalling.

Please advise me how to get rid of the error message always appearing at startup.

    Thank you

You can't really uninstall and reinstall OE without having to reinstall XP as OE is a part of it. I hope your foray into the registry does not require a reinstall of XP.

  • Problems with Outlook Express (address book, mail open, etc.)

Hi, I have a strange problem with my outlook express. The program opens ok, it synchronize the e-mail with the servers and so on. If you click on an email in the upper part of the window you can see the content below.
Now, this is my problem, I can not doubleclick on an email to open it, I can't send an email or forward it. I can't open the address book.
I get different messages, "it was not possible to open the address book, it cannot be installed correctly", "the message could not be opened, an error has occurred", "it was not possible to load the due address book that Outlook Express is not properly configured. Reinstall Outlook Express"and so on.
I used this software for many years and the problem came from one day to the other. I tried to uninstall/reinstall the program from the Control Panel, I did a repair on XP installation, but it is always the same, is there anyone who has an idea (I know that Outlook Express is and old program, but it works very well for my needs).

    What about Nils

First, try a new identity and see if that helps.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.

  • Address book does not load in OutLook Express

Operation of a limited account, Outlook Express cannot open the address book with
    the following messages:
    (1) the address book failed to load. Outlook Express s wrong
    configured, please re-install.
    (2) unable to open the address book. The address book cannot be
    installed correctly.

However, if the limited account is changed to an administrator account
    are no problem.

There are two accounts on the PC; HP_Administrator and User1. User1 is the
the problem account. HP_administrator has administrator privileges
and if User1 receives administrative privileges, and then I noticed that the two accounts
use the same address book. In other words, Outlook Express
"-> Addresses--> help on address book" in the two accounts show

    C:\Documents and Data Data\Microsoft\Address Book\Administrator.wab

    used as the address book.

This seems incorrect. I would expect Admin to be replaced by HP_Administrator
or User1 in the path above, according to the account that Outlook Express has been
Run from. It seems that the operating system is configured to use the address book above,
regardless of the account running Outlook Express. If User1 is a limited account
It is not possible to view the location of the address book due to the error that
is happening, but I suspect that Outlook Express attempts to access the address book
above and a problem arises due to try limited permissions User1 account
to access the address book in the folder of the administrator.

Windows XP with service pack 2 is the operating system and of its Outlook Express 6.

What do I do so that Outlook Express can operate successfully in the
    limited account User1.

The problem has been resolved. I wrote the solution for people
who, like me, have no experience with the Windows operating system.

The sites of these links must be read. For Outlook express
    http://www.insideoe.com,

    more precisely

    http://www.insideoe.com/files/WAB.htm.

For more information about the registry and how to change the following two sites
provide the necessary information and should be read carefully.

    (1) http://www.techsupportalert.com/content/learn-how-use-windows-registry-editor-regedit-one-easy-lesson.htm

    (2) http://pcsupport.about.com/od/termsr/p/registrywindows.htm
(You will find other useful links on this site)

A single note; There are different sets of keys "HKEY_CURRENT_USER", 1 set for each
account. To change a "HKEY_CuRRENT_USER" key for the user account, you must be
    logged in as user.

In the registry, the key to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB\WAB4\Wab file name.
contains the path of the address book used by Outlook Express, for
the account that you are logged.

When logged on as a user and by examining the registry with regedit

    "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\WAB/WAB4\Wab file name.

    the value

    C:\Documents and Data Data\Microsoft\Address Book\Administrator.wab.

Given that the user is a limited account, user doesn't have the privilege to access the address book in this
location, which led to the errors listed in the original post. The solution is to
change this path. Using regedit path has changed to

    C:\Documents and Settings\User\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\User.wab.

C:\Documents and Settings\nom being the folder root for the user account, the user has
the privilege to access the address book to the new location. Outlook express has been
then be able to access the address book.

Upon reflection, it seems to me that the above solution is just a symptom, and not the cause.
The original question, in fact, should be:

How the system is configured so that when a new account is created the new account
will use an address book to

    C:\Documents and Account\Application Book\New Account.wab Data\Microsoft\Address CAB.

    Instead of

    C:\Documents and Data Data\Microsoft\Address Book\Administrator.wab,.

It should not be necessary to change the registry for each new account.

  • Outlook express 6. does not full screen load. header bar 20 mm less than full screen. not scroll down bar on the screen

My outlook express 6 program does not load the screen prperly. The header bar is less about 15-20 mm and the bottom scroll bar is not visible

You are the very welcome. Glad it worked for you.

  • Outlook express loading very slowly

Outlook Express charge exceptionally slowly. OE blue screen freezes on desktop for about a minute or more. Also, I am bombarded with emails from 'support@info. (various gibberish) com. examples: * address email is removed from the privacy *; * E-mail address is removed from the privacy *; * E-mail address is removed from the privacy *

I was put in the blocked senders list, but I have to do with each of them. I tried blocking support@info.*.com in the hope that it would work. Since I did I have this problem of loading to slow down. I removed this last entry but yet it's still slow loading so I don't know if they are related.

Start by creating a new identity, file | Identities | Add the new identity. Create a new and import your messages and address book from the old identity and remove it. This will have the same effect as having a brand new OE and should speed things up.

Note: Do not use the main word in the name of the new identity.
For your spam problem, blocked senders is useless. Corresponds to the address above the exact address? Use a message rule to remove the server and simply add the domain name. (All aster the @). This is assuming that you don't get legitimate email from this domain.

You can also filter your messages. More drastic, but post back if you need instructions.

    General precautions for Outlook Express:

Do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box. Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Information on the maximum size of the .dbx files that are used by Outlook Express:
    http://support.Microsoft.com/?kbid=903095

After you're done, followed by compacting your folders manually while working * off * and do it often.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

Disable analysis in your e-mail anti-virus program. It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:

  • Problem loading in outlook express after changing Internet service providers.

I have recently switch from Verizon to Comcast internet providers.  Since I had problems loading in outlook express.  One in a blue moon, it will actually connect, but more often than not, it does nothing.  It loads in the taskbar upwards and the titles of the mailbox, but if it connects, you can't do anything.  Help I am getting very frustrated.

I don't know why the change of operator would make a difference. When it finally connects, you get mail?

Make sure that your settings are correct and that your Verizon account has been deleted.

How can I set up/configure Outlook Express, Windows Mail & Windows Live Mail to E-mail from Comcast?
    http://www.Comcast.com/customers/FAQ/FaqDetails.ashx?ID=2288

    Then work on these steps.

    1: create a new Folders.dbx file.

Tools | Options | Maintenance | Store folder will reveal the location of your Outlook Express files. Note the location and navigate on it in Explorer Windows or, copy and paste in start | Run.

In Windows XP, Win2K & Win2K3 the OE user files (DBX and WAB) are by default marked as hidden. To view these files in Windows Explorer, you must enable Show hidden files and folders under start | Control Panel | Folder Options icon | Opinion, or in Windows Explorer. Tools | Folder options | View.

A new Folders.dbx file will be created when you open OE. Note these possible side effects:

When you re - start OE, it will build a new index of all *.dbx files it can read and create a new Folders.dbx. Please understand that you will lose the mail directory structure, all the discussion lists and all synchronization options and message rules will probably have to be edited.

2: do not archive mail in the receipt or sent items box.  Create your own user-defined folders and move messages you want to put in them. Empty the deleted items folder daily. Although the dbx files have a theoretical capacity of 2 GB, I recommend all a 300 MB max for less risk of corruption.

Click Outlook Express at the top of the the folder tree so no folders are open. Then: File | Work offline (or double-click on work online in the status bar). File | Folder | Compact all folders. Don't touch anything until the compacting is completed.

3: disable e-mail scanning in your anti-virus program.  It is a redundant layer of protection that devours the processors and causes a multitude of problems such as time-outs and account setting changes. Your up-to-date A / V program will continue to protect you sufficiently. For more information, see:
    http://www.oehelp.com/OETips.aspx#3

For some programs, turning it off is not enough. You may need to uninstall and reinstall in custom Mode and remove the analysis when e-mail messages.

If all else fails, try a new identity.

You may have a damaged identity especially if it's the default main identity. File | Identity | Add the new identity. Create a new one and try it. If all goes well, you can import your messages and address book from the old identity and delete it.

  • Outlook Express loading and loading and loading...

I have two computers use the same email address. Outlook Express is woking very well on a single computer. But, the PROBLEM: when I open Outlook Express on the other computer, it wants to download emails it has already downloaded. She does several times. I want that it access the emails even two computers brom. I don't want to reload everything each time I open it. Help, please.

With OE closed, find the Pop3uidl.dbx file and delete it.  Another will be created automatically when you open OE.

  • Lately when I try to load Outlook Express, it flashes on the screen and then disappear. I have try several times so that it can load. What is the problem?
