  Hey, so since my dad need a computer work (Word, Excel; sometimes Visio or some CAD software at low cost) as soon as possible, to buy the best model at a price online was not an option. The operating system has perhaps as ~ 10 programs installed (excluding things like Visual C++, .NET Framework etc), a program is launched at startup (this is the COMODO antivirus), but the laptop feels really slow. Each individual operation lasts much longer than I should have. In addition to the General slugginess, which includes:

  • using Windows Explorer to browse files
  • the start of the above programs and open documents using these programs
  • surfing the internet at least 3 tabs open - the browser crashes sometimes just (tested on many browsers, including Opera, Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi)

  It seems to work much better under Linux (xubuntu, to be precise), but most of the programs that need to work, won't work correctly even with wine, and run a virtual machine with Windows XP on a computer small is not an option (Yes, I tried).

  I am aware that the processor is the main reason for my disappointment, but I'm wondering how much of a sudden boost could replace the drive to a SSD 128 GB cause. Has anyone here with a Pentium 3558U processor do that?

  Also is there something I could do to improve performance? I remember the system used to process as ~ 50% of the CPU, but I already troubleshooted and fixed that, and this is no longer the case.

  I have a very difficult problem confusing

  Operating system: windows 10 updated from windows 8.1

  wireless driver: tried all the drivers I can find on the Web site

  Wireless status:

  -WIFI WORKS fine and I can connect to my network normally.

  -Airplane Mode Windows 10 button is stuck in THE Statute and cannot be disabled by click or settings "when turn it off in the Middle goes back to immediately.

  -WIFI windows 10 button is grayed off the coast of the State and cannot be activated by click or parameters but WIFI still work and showing all networks!

  I removed the battery today because the laptop is always plugged in it has nothing to do with the problem.

  removed the plane mode switch driver see 1.4.2.0 in Device Manager and tried to install the driver for the airplane 1.4.1.0 mode switching (the driver did not work windows blocked this driver for compatibility problems)

  At this point, windows 10 switches starts to answer normally (with the driver down in the Device Manager)

  From the Device Manager, I chose the plane mode switch driver see 1.4.2.0 again (this driver now works with windows 10!)

  My laptop is brand new. I went through the initial setup in 15 minutes approximately. This has worked well. I rebooted several times without problem. At this point, the boot options are (if I hit F12 at startup):

  Tittle: Startup Mode is set to: UEFI with legacy OPROM: secure boot: off

  Hard drive

  UEFI OPTIONS:

  PEBOOT

  Ubuntu

  Please note that I never really used the start menu. I just use the default value.

  After a few days, I tried to change how the function keys worked, so I restarted and is gone the BIOS, change this setting, then choose 'save changes and "Reset".   Today I received my 3551 Dell with ubuntu.  I am facing a similar situation.  If inherited boot mode, then something happens to the boot process for the uefi firmware.  I'm trying to understand uefi starting the process as well as the Partion of EFI (ESP) system works.   A good place is-

  Another problem that I face is that the process to create a recovery on a usb flash drive media fails. I used different usb pen drives but runs aground with each of them.  The recovery flash drive me would be useful if the computer is required to be returned to factory State.   Please inform your experience with it.  I wonder what partition used by the dell recovery program.

  Also inform if drivers for Windows are hidden somewhere on the hard drive.

  I recently bought an inspiron 3542 which is preinstalled with Windows 8.1, 64 bit. My most important medical equipment that connects to the USB port supports only Windows 7 & when I asked him about the drivers for Windows 8 of the manufacturer of the device, they do not support Windows 8.   Please any help would be greatly appreciated that I expected to have some trouble with a new machine.

  I got it to work! It took a while, but that's exactly what I did. I'll try to enlighten as much the problem as I can.

  Step 1:

  Download Ubuntu LTS 64 bits of Ubuntu.com 14.04.2

  I have not tested the latest version then I would say using the LTS version because it certainly has support for UEFI systems. It MUST be 64-bit. 32-bit has no support for UEFI systems.

  Step 2:

  Download UnetBootin Linux Live USB Creator. This Boot Disk Creator will make bootable using UEFI which is ABSOLUTELY necessary.

  Step 3:

  UnetBootin allows you to create the startup disk.

  Step 4:

  Press the start menu and reboot the PC while now the key [SHIFT]. This will take you to the advanced boot of the windows boot loader menu.

  Step 5:

  In the advanced boot menu, press 'Use of a device' and boot from the USB drive.

  Step 6:

  Select "install Ubuntu along beside the bootloader windows"(or something smilar) installing Ubuntu. "." This will install correctly.

  THEN YOU'RE DONE!

  I hope this helps! Finally, it worked for me!
