No option of repair during installation

I have win 7 pro OEM installed on my personal computer. I'm trying to set my ASUS P6T Sata in the BIOS to AHCI. I get a blue screen when I do that. According to ASUS, I have to reinstall Windows, that is not an option, because I have tons of applications installed or they said I can do a repair. Like the other MS OS there is a repair when the first start, but I need to use the repair option that you normally get after the start-up of the plant when he sees that you have already installed the operating system. That's what ASUS has said and I did in the past with other OS. But if I'm missing something on my WIN 7 64 bit OEM install when I run the Setup it sees my drives and partitions and my only option is to choose the partition to install to and it it a full installs. Am I missing something? Other solutions or suggestions?
Thank you

Some computer manufacturers OEM discs have the repair option. But you can do a repair disk:

Creating a system repair and boot in Windows 7 disk drive (if you are unable to start Windows 7 use another computer with Windows 7)

1. click on start-> all programs-> maintenance.
2. click on create a shortcut to the system repair disc.
3. choose your optical disc drive: drop-down list.
4. Insert a CD or a blank DVD into your optical drive.
5. click on the Create Disk button. Windows 7 will now create the system repair disc.
6. once the system repair disc creation is completed, Windows 7 displays a dialog box that you can close it by clicking the close button.

Then:

Try to repair the Windows 7 Installation (steps may be slightly different if you use the system repair disc)

1. Insert the DVD of Windows 7 (or the system repair disc), and then restart your computer
2 boot from the DVD.
3. choose your language and click Next.
4. click on repair your computer, select the operating system you want to repair.
5. click on the link to repair list system in the System Recovery Options recovery tools.

  • Want to download 10 W but not able to do that, during installation, a problem arises and the previous operating system is restored.

My laptop is preinstalled with Windows 7 Home Basic.  At the free launch Windows 10 I downloaded the same and after 2 months, the hard drive crashed.  The repair shop trying to fix formatting, but could not revive.  This is why I bought a new hard drive and repair charge shot Windows 7 Ultimate edition.

Now, I want to download 10 W but not able to do that, during installation, a problem arises and the previous operating system has been restored.  When I posted the question about how to solve this problem, I was told to try the download by way of USB/ISO file.

    Now my question is that

one) can I reload Windows 7 Home basic as I have the product key?

    (b) I can then download Windows 10 according to the normal procedure?

I'm not tech savvy, afraid to download files in USB and then load into the laptop, so this question.

Original title: Windows 7 Home basic

You can directly download Windows 10. Windows 7 complete edition currently installed is not genuine.

When you upgraded from a previous version of Windows, what happened is that (your PC) hardware will get a digital right, a unique signature of the computer which is stored on the Microsoft Activation servers. The real Windows 7 or Windows 8 license you were using previously will be exchanged with a key to the diagnosis.

Whenever you need to reinstall Windows 10 on this machine, go just to reinstall Windows 10. It automatically reactivates.

Therefore, there is no need to know or get a product key, if you must reinstall Windows 10, you can use your Windows 7 or Windows 8 product key or use the reset function in Windows 10.

    • Disable the general USB peripherals (for example - smart card reader).
    • If you are using a SCSI drive, make sure you have the drivers available for your storage on a thumdrive device and it is connected. During the installation of Windows 10, click on the advanced custom Option and use the command load driver to load the driver for the SCSI drive. If this does not work and the installer still fails, consider switching to an IDE based hard drive.

Boot from the Windows 8 DVD or USB media that you created
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 8 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.
