  • Does not DETECT THE SOUND CARD / laptop INSPIRON 1501

I have an INSPIRON 1501 laptop and have had problems with the sound for some time. When I watch movies, the sound is there. When I Skype, I can hear, but the other party can't hear what I'm saying. Skype can't detect sound card.

    What I've done so far:

I went to control PANEL and then MANAGER of DEVICES, OTHER DEVICES. Here, I have only one BASIC DEVICE SYSTEM option with a yellow sign. I right click on properties, then under GENERAL clicked REINSTALL DRIVER, but Windows could not find driver software.

I also tried option SOUND, VIDEO and GAME CONTROLLERS in the DEVICE MANAGER. There is only one HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO DEVICE option and it is not marked.

Advice I have to install find the sound card.

Thanks for all your advice beforehand.

  • "Tinny" sound from internal speakers Dell XPS 1645

I got my Dell XPS 1645 for about 4-5 years so maybe it's just a problem of wear.

I am running Chrome and watch a stream on twitch.tv August 23 to about 75% volume level when there was a sharp fall in terms of audio quality; now everything seems thin / no bass/distortion plus silent.

Audio performance was great before this event and always beautiful with headphones (this is the internal speakers which are reached).

To clarify, the sound is muffled or spindly; It is not a noise or interference and the volume settings have not been changed as to cause this effect to my knowledge.

I tried all the solutions I could find but I would like to know if there is something I don't understand!

I uninstalled the IDT drivers and reinstalled from the dell site and other sites, I tried to use the default Microsoft drivers.

I ran the Diagnostics Dell PC Checkup trials; speakers pass.

I've disabled the improvements and messed around with properties of speaker without result.

Speakers can still go to 100% flight (of course, this sounds horrible). Also, I have never historically played audio at levels like that nor I had problems with the audio in the past.

I blew my speakers? Is there a loose connection? More important is there anything I can try or do? I prefer not having to pay massive amounts of replacements because it will mean probably deserting me a ship from Dell for good and get a nice update!

Hello. The Studio XPS 1645 model had a "subwoofer". He has probably stopped working on your device. If you want to replace or are looking for a loose connection, you can get the service manual with instructions for the page documents Studio 1645, and the play itself is going for $5-10 on ebay.

  • Need help to connect the monitor to Dell Inspiron Dell

I recently bought a laptop computer Inspiron 17R in order to reduce the use of my laptop Precision M6600. A Dell U2312HM monitor has been used precisely as a second monitor and I want to use with the Inspiron system newly acquired as a second monitor. The different video ports on both of these computers and I failed to get the monitor to work with the Inspiron. While the accuracy using an older VGA connection, the new Inspiron using a HDMI connection. To further complicate the issue, the monitor has several ports to connect to a source of video output, which includes the DisplayPort, DVI, VGA and ports for USB connections upstream and downstream, but not including HDMI. I used a DisplayPort to HDMI Cable adapter trying to to connect the Inspiron to the monitor, but could not produce an image on the screen of the monitor. This continuous monitor to answer correctly when it is attached to the precision via the VGA cable & port so I'm confused as to why I had no luck by attaching the monitor to the new system with the adapter DisplayPort to HDMI. How can the Inspiron 17R be connected to the monitor Dell U2312HM?

Computer output HDMI cannot convert a monitor of DP (DisplayPort) using a straight through cable.

  • No sound... Dell XPS 410

Hello!  I'm having the same problem of sound/audio, many others have some.  My old drivers will not be installed since the site dell.com b/c my computer (Dell XPS 410) indicates that the Windows 7 operating system does not recognize the drivers and only Vista/XP will.

THEN!... I'm kinda stuck... I have tried what seems like countless other recommended drivers.  My digital audio device SigmaTel record sound when I play it.  My speakers/headphones, however, indicate that they are not connected.  I just reformatted my computer tonight, and I have not changed the physical connections from Vista to W7.  So, I'm not sure WHY it tells me that my speakers are not connected...

    2. click on the audio icon.

    3. click on the Read tab.

    4. right click on a box empty and click Show disabled devices.

    5. you will now see the audio devices disabled with the arrow pointing down on them.

    6. right click on the disabled audio device you want to enable and Activate it.

  • No sound after reformatting on Dell Dimension 2350 XP SP3

Only, I went to read an mp3 file after reformatting last week and got this: "Media Player cannot play the file because there is a problem with the audio device". My multimedia audio controller, Device Manager has a yellow question mark and a code 28 by the bit of General properties. It's a Dell Dimension 2350 with SP3. Just let the Hardware Wizard find the driver for me?

    http://www.Dell.com/support/drivers/ca/en/cadhs1

Click on the link above, all your system drivers are here.

Expand the Audio, there is only one pilot, click on download, note when you save the file in.

Double-click the file to install the driver.

Save the link above if you need others.

If you have the CD Drivers and Utilities provided with the system, the drivers are on the CD.

Yes, you can leave the installer for you, also Windows Update installs for you, but it is preferable to install yourself, Windows makes mistakes!

In fact, what causes a lot of wear on a battery empties it too low on several occasions. With today
systems overload are not a problem.

Here are some tips to help and troubleshoot battery issues.

Old battery? Unplug the power to the computer - remove the battery and clean the contacts with a pencil
eraser (do not use this, if your battery is fine slots - just clean up the edges of the knife which fit in)
them and be careful). Batteries are old, or it could be a problem with the computer.
Check with the support of the machine system, and many of them have on line forums.

New Lithium-Ion type battery usually last longer if you do not unload then less than 30%
However on a laptop that not extend their life a lot. Best is to use the a/c adapter
    When this is possible.

  • Reference Dell 5650 5.1 Center Sound bar on but not its Center

    Hello folks,

Thanks in advance for any help with my challenge. I've been everywhere on the web to research and chose to finally ask the experts here. I'll try to be concise.

I have a Dimension 8400 built end of 2004. Original sound card installed by Dell was Audigy 2 ZS. in the original configuration, all the sound elements including 5650 speakers worked fine... including the central bar. A couple of years, I had the Audigy 2 ZS replaced because he has started to break out badly.  My lady IT's replaced with the entry level Audigy card and claimed that I would not be able to tell the difference. Since then, I had problems with the speakers work correctly... so I resorted to earphones for the past 2 years. Now, I would like to know if there is a solution for my challenges before moving on to another sound card - and or new speakers.

Here is what I tried so farhati checked all connections * uninstalled and reinstalled the Audigy software * enabled CMSS surround in EAX settings (this brought back the 4 main speakers to audible). BUT... Still no sound to the speakers of the Center bar. Center speaker sounds not even during speaker control through Creative Software diagnostics.

The sound bar power light is on... Volume control works... Power SWITCH works... NO SOUND! Any ideas?

    Thank you very much!

Found the part number, P7664. Dear CD.

Recently, I had problems with the sound on my Inspiron 3520.  The sound works for awhile and then later it doesn't, and I have to restart the laptop to make it work.  I did Diagnostics and nothing comes up.  I think I may need to have his replaced card.

We have recently seen many reports about this sort of thing. Countiss Forum member wrote that it is because of Microsoft...

You don't have to do a system restore to get rid the updates; easier to go to Windows Update, view update history. On the top of this screen, click installed updates. Then just right click the update you want to uninstall.
