Hello rbh111,

Thank you for visiting the Microsoft answers Site.

To better help, what is the brand and model of your PC?

Also, try clicking on Show disconnected devices and see the disabled devices under the noise>reading tab and make sure that output HDMI device option.

If the HDMI option is not listed, you can check that the last audio device driver Windows 7 and Windows 7 video card driver provided by the manufacturer of the PC are installed and then check the issue.

Please let us know if the steps above help you to solve the problem for you.

Thank you

  • Bad resolution of Qosmio G30 - external display via the HDMI connection-

Hello! This problem makes me crazy, please help if you can...

I just bought a G30-102 and I am trying to use it with an external display via the HDMI connection. The problem I have is that the native resolution of 1920 x 1200 cut the edges of the screen and the quality looks terrible - its almost as if the entire screen is enlarged. I tried with a BenQ FP241wz initially (1080i is 1920 x 1200) and the Toshiba helpline could not find a solution either - even after painfully reinstall all the drivers, etc..

Its been going on for so long, I thought I'd try it out with my HDTV instead, just to be sure it wasn't a monitor problem. So I tried with my Toshiba 32WLT66 - and come to find that it has exactly the same problem.

All the display settings appear to be correct and the G30 is convinced that the result is correct, so I have now it is - don't you think not that this is a problem with my HDMI port?

Please help, I'm a designer, and it is essential that I use the machine on a large screen. If it is a hardware of the G30 problem, I need to talk to Toshiba immediately replace or fixing.

    Hello

I am trying to establish remote desktop TO my new laptop (Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit) on my computer (Windows XP) work via a VPN. The VPN Client connects to my network to work with no problems, but when I try to use the remote desktop connection I get an error message:

    (3) the remote computer is not available on the network

Make sure that the remote computer is on and connected to the network, and remote access is enabled.

It's annoying as *. For example: whenever I visit the coffee machine or the bathroom, I have to wait 1-2 minutes until I can get back to work, because the screen was turned off until I can come back. • System hangs on the external display connection

I just bought a MacBook Pro 13 "mid 2012 version because I travel a lot." I do a lot of coding on my main PC. I didn't mind having a smaller screen and the retina no since I had to plug my monitor 27 "HD for the majority of my work. This is the problem...

Two things happen when I try to connect it via Apple's Thunderbolt at the VGA connector. Or the other

    1. the external screen but the MBP 2012 (1200 x 800) native resolution and I can't change it at all

    or

    2. all of the gray system out and crashes and the second monitor turns off say there is no entry. Then I pressed the power button to turn off completely it.

Nothing wrong with the display or the adapter I tested them both on another laptop that my wife and my main development office (two PCs). I guess that something is wrong with the MacBook or the underlying software. I'm running El Capitan and the MBP is maxed out in RAM and a 500 GB SSD. I tried a lot of things I've seen online already, but none of them worked. Is this what can I do to get the 2nd screen to work on its 1920 x 1080 resolution?

  • W520 gets stuck on Thinkpad with a hard drive external display connected

    Hello world

I just changed from an external hard drive of 500 GB to 3 to one, but if I leave that new connected for starting my computer the computer crashes to the thinkpad logo and launch startup.

The boot order is set to boot from the internal hard drive before the media CD or USB, so I don't know why it is the way.

I have no problem with my original external hard drive connected.

This isn't a huge problem, just a downside I want to turn on my computer, wait 30 seconds, going ' Oh shoot, on the right, "have to disconnect the drive, and then restart.

    Thanks for any help!

What level of BIOS are you running on the W520 and what external HARD drive brand? BIOS 1.38 was supposed to fix the POST with the 3 TB drive plugged into the USB 3.0 port. Please report back.

    Hello

I m not 100% sure if this might help you, but I noticed a similar problem on the Tecra M4 anchored to the multiple dock Tablet.
The update of the BIOS helped solve this problem.

In addition, an update of the graphics card driver would be desirable.

    Good luck

  • "There no external display connected.

This message came suddenly on the screen and won't go away, even if I rebooted several times. It rises on the top of each window, and it is disturbing. What should I do to make it go away?

    Hi JI,.

Thanks for the reply and sorry to hear about the inconvenience caused.

This problem may be due to corrupted display drivers.

I suggest you to uninstall display drivers and restart the computer.

Please refer to the article that will help you to uninstall devices by using Device Manager:

    https://msdn.Microsoft.com/en-us/library/Windows/hardware/ff553572 (v = vs. 85) .aspx

Once the drivers are uninstalled, restart the computer and check if that helps.

  • Pavilion dv6-1053 cl. Some sounds, but not on video. Vista Home Premium 64-bit.

This had happened in the past and a reboot would be the cure.  Now restart does not clear the problem.

I checked Windows Update and found two recommended updates related to sound.  Installed both and my problems seem to be resolved.  But came back.  No sound on the videos again.

  • Re: Satellite A660-10W - connection external display with HDMI cuts sound on

When I use an external display via the HDMI, it mutes the sound of the laptop.
It's OK because the external display has a headphone/speaker output jack.

However, when I close the external screen (which I use for movies only) and to use the laptop only, the sound is cut all the time that the HDMI cable is connected.

I can't hear sound - by harman/kardon speakers or headphone - when the HDMI cable is disconnected (if the external display is turned on or off).

Is there a way to allow me to have the choice and use her laptop - even when the HDMI cable is connected - in order not to keep plugging and plugging on?

    Thank you

    It is clear.
If the HDMI cable is connected, then the digital output is defined as audio output by default and therefore you do not hear the sound of the internal speakers but on external monitor speakers.

You need to change the sound settings.

Go to control panel of-> sound-> reading tab and set the speakers to laptop as default.
Then you should hear sound from the speakers for laptop!

  • MacBook - problems to connect the external display w

I do a lot of presentations (Keynote) to Mac external displays at events.

The new MacBook (12 ") is quite often problems, so I have to carry a MacBookAir as back-up in case where.

Problems can be no image at all, or two images (like 70% Keynote + 30% of office) and with spikes.

It doesn't matter if I use HDMI or VGA. And Yes, I know how to set the resolution in the workplace sometimes that the problem is solved by adjusting the resolution manually, but then the Macbook can jump to the resolution which does not by itself during the slide show...

I think that the problem only occurs when I have to go through a device such as a split, or when there is a lot of tech back stage.

Anyone having problems of this kind with the MacBook?

Any ideas on what is wrong and how to fix?
