No sound on HP Elitebook 8460w

HP elitebook 8460w has a red x on the volume icon.  How can I fix it?

Is a card his lack or something.

The first thing to check is wghether or not, you have touched inadvertently audio key on the keyboard. Check the last row of keys. You will need to use the Fn key in combination with one who can have an icon of a speaker.

The 'secret' is turned on?

Go into the Device Manager.

See if the sound, video and game controllers has a device that does not have a driver installed.

If this is the case, reinstall the audio in the Recovery Manager driver when you are connected to Windows.  All programs--> HP--> Recovery Manager

Hello, I know you posted a long time ago, but I can't leave a message on the internet only unanswered. I have a HP Elitebook 85XXp and I had the problem of locking caps also. What I did I went to the process in the Task Manager and stopped QLB Controller. If you type msconfig in windows and go to startup or services, you can finish / uncheck the QLC controller service. It worked for me, hope this helps future inhabitants of the internet. Had to make an account just to post.

  • No sound from HP - 8560p, windows 7 64 bit elitebook docking station

I was issued a laptop Elitebook 8560p for use with a 90 W HP Docking station at work.  When the laptop is plugged into the docking station, the port ' audio out ' of the docking station does not work.  The sound continues to come out of the computer laptop speakers, or, if I plug the headphones into the headphone for laptop, it comes out of the helmet.  Plug the headphones into the Docking Station does not all the sounds (either of the two audio ports - in or out).  When the laptop is plugged into the docking station, no additional reading device does appear in the audio menu - just an output HDMI AMD (disabled) and speakers (activated).

The speakers/headphones on the laptop works fine, the problem is just that the docking station is in no way "replica" or the audio output support and it's as if the port of the enclosure of the dock just weren't there.  So, I could use my headset by plugging directly to the laptop, but this really seems to defeat the whole concept of a docking station.  All other ports (video, usb) seem to work on the docking station.

    I am running Windows 7, 64-bit.

I reinstalled the sound driver (for laptop) so that the laptop was plugged into the dock.  That did the trick.

  • Disorder of the EliteBook 8760w Sound

I've recently updated to my laptop (EliteBook 8760w) via HP Support Assistant, and since then my sound was not good. I'm having audio stutters all the time... Sometimes worse, sometimes less but it is there. Is there a solution to my problem?

  • EliteBook 8570w: the sound quality after update problem

I connected the laptop to a docking station. The docking station has a connection to a headset/external amplifier. Ideal to connect the amplifier. Only in this respect has more no bass. The connection of the helmet of the computer laptop itself has a pleasant sound, but I do not like to keep card 10 x a day between headset and amp switching. (Phone + Amp = echo). My alarm only works with external stakeholders, but Skype and Softphone want the headset.

Also, I turn off HP speakers in the system and have no more just the external headphones, since one of the most recent updates the internal speakers don't turn off when the headset is connected. This has implications for readers audio and video players, as they want their sounds through HP speakers. Only VLC mediaplayer has the possibility to move from one sound channel, but I have to change every time I start a video.

Before the update, there was an automatic switch and I could let two of them on and the sound channel chose autamtically and turn to the helmet that was plugged, etc..

I use Windows 7 64-bit and windows 10 is not an option due to various programs more alumni who should be updated (if it is still possible), which would be very expensive.

I noticed something new has been installed called SRS Premium Sound Pro. Maybe it's the culprit. I dare not change anything in it.

Does anyone know how to debug this?

  • HP EliteBook 8570p bad sound question

    Hello

I have a problem with the sound through headphones. The sound of the headphones of this laptop is thin, spindly, without bass, as if it was sous-échantillonné to 8 kHz, 8-bit audio. In the videos, I hear just voice of the people, his music is very poor.

There is nothing wrong with headphones, as I tried to listen to the same audio files on my smartphone with the same headphones plugged in and sound was normal. Also by the internal Laptop speakers seems to be ok.

    Things I've tried so far:

1 update BIOS and audio with the latest drivers. -No change.

    2. completely remove IDT SRS Premium Sound with drivers and system restored to default Windows drivers. -No change.

    3. configure Windows sound properties in the Windows Control Panel. -No change.

    I use Windows 7 SP1 64 - bit Enterprise Edition.

I had this same problem with a 8570 executed on an advanced docking station p. I have updated my drivers audio, makeshift with settings, etc.. If I plugged my headphones into the audio output jack on the docking station (where my speakers are normally plugged), the sound was very good. But since the headphone jack, I got the same intestine dialogue, n-bass muffled and vocal-type problems you had. When I tried to configure the device audio speakers/HP on the plug headset, I was not getting stereo sound.

As paradoxical as it may seem, to solve the problem, I had to pull the plug on my helmet just slightly out of the. Once the CAP has been implemented correctly, clearly, I had stereo sound. It seems a bit ridiculous, but it give a try.

    I am running Windows 7 Professional 64 - bit.

  • Sniffing sounds every 30 seconds on EliteBook 8560w

    Hi all

Around a week ago a sniff/hum started coming out of my speakers each seconds from 28 to 31 in playing any type of audio.

Disabling the wizard of such power as suggested by Huruntz here has solved the problem. However, I am still wandering if there is an alternative (like changing the settings, etc.) that does not disable the software?

    Thank you in advance.

PS Re-installation audio driver did not resolve the issue

    Hello

I have experienced the same problem, extremely annoying. And after an internet search turns out that HP Power Assistant was the cause of the problem and turn it off solved. A the use of the energy management program comes handy, so I contacted HP support to see if they had a solution. And they did: they told me to install, which turns out be an older version of the wizard of power.

  • No sound docking station line out

HP Elitebook 8540p, HP Docking Station VB043AA #ABA, Windows 7 64-bit. audio output works very well for a portable loudspeakers and headphones for laptop; When I plug the speaker docking station output cable, the sound continues to come from the internal speakers. When I right click on "speaker" icon and select 'reading devices' I see ' speakers / HP ' and "headphones (RTC)" but I see no option to upgrade to the alignment of the docking station.

problem solved! labels (and the documentation of the docking station) apparently are back! with the arrow pointing TOWARDS the hole is the LINE-OUT. I can only assume the other jack would be online but I have not tested. someone fell asleep for a while on the Assembly line because my co-workers with the same platform with the same problem. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but don't "arrow pointing away from jack" = "line out" = "jack speaker?

    Hello

    Try the following.

Download IDT Audio Installer on the link below and save it in your downloads folder.

    FTP://ftp.HP.com/pub/SoftPaq/sp59001-59500/sp59291.exe

One time finished, open windows control panel, open Device Manager and open sound, video and game controllers.  Right click on the IDT device and select uninstall - also, you should get a command prompt to delete the current driver, check the box allow this and then proceed to uninstall.

When you're done, shut down the laptop, unplug the AC adapter and then remove the battery.  Press and hold the Power button for 30 seconds.  Reinsert the battery and plug in the AC adapter.

Only start the laptop and let Windows load completely - it will automatically load an audio driver, but let just this complete.  Then open your download folder, right-click on the IDT Installer and select "Run as Administrator" to launch the installation.  Once this done, do a right-click the speaker icon in the taskbar and select playback devices.  'Speakers and headphones' left click once to highlight, and then click the Set Default button - check if you now audio.

  • HP Elitebook 8440p: lack of "Audio device high definition '-win 10 (or 7/8/8.1?)

    Hello

My laptop computer in question is a HP Elitebook 8440p

Just upgraded to Windows Pro 10 x 64, and I managed to find the drivers for all of them, except a device.

    Under >

    > Sound, video and game controllers

    -"High Definition Audio Device".

It has a hardware ID of:

    HDAUDIO\FUNC_01 & VEN_8086 & DEV_2804 & SUBSYS_80860101 & REV_1000

    I already tried to install:

    -IDT Audio Drivers

    -LSI High-Definition Audio (HDA) Modem

    -Intel Chipset Installation utility

None of the foregoing has managed to get rid of the yellow exclamation power off the device under the Device Manager view.

I had a few other devices where win 10 has not installed by default, and for drivers Win 7 seems to work very well, so I guess that the same is true with the one above - I just need to know what to install...

Any help would be appreciated.  Thank you.

    Hello:

You must manually install the audio driver Intel HDMI driver W7 Intel HD graphics support page for your laptop.

Here is how to do this without messing up your graphics driver...

First download and install this free utility for files... 1 file on the list is 64-bit.

    http://www.7-zip.org/

Then, download and save the graphic driver Intel support page for your laptop.  Do not run it.

    http://h20564.www2.HP.com/hpsc/SWD/public/detail?sp4ts.Oid=4095873 & swItemId = ob_127914_1 & swEnvOid = 4059 #tab1

After downloading the above driver file, right-click on it and select 7 - zip from the list.

Have 7-zip extract of: and leave it to decompress the file in the file name (sp64360).

Once this is done, go to the Device Manager and click on the audio device HD requiring the driver.

Click the driver tab.  Click on set to update driver.

Select her browse my computer for driver software option and find the driver 7-zip created folder.

Make sure that the include subfolders is selected and the driver should install.

    Then restart.
