No start-up of the thread when changing the HARD drive

My hard drive was broken and I had to replace it.
I have a new hard drive HP (thanks for the quick support & delivery!) and he succeeded.
Now, I want to start my laptop but it says the following:

Not found boot device
Please install an operating system on your hard drive.
Hard drive (3F0)
F2 System Diagnostics

Should not the operating system is already installed on the hard drive?
What should I do now? I have all the disks to install an operating system...

Product number:

Oh and he passed control of the short DST I ran, so there is nothing wrong with the hard drive...

Hello

Unfortunately, provided by HP HARD drive replacement will not have the operating system installed - you will need one set of recovery disks/usb media.

If you have not created your own game, you must order a replacement of HP - start by using the link below.

Order HP recovery disks.

If you have a problem with this link, order them directly from HP.

If you live in the United States, contact HP here.

If you are in another part of the world, begin here.

The procedure for using this media to reinstall the operating system on your new drive is detailed in the HP document on the following link.

You must include the * Intel Matrix Storage Manager * during the XP installation process.
As far as I know you have to press the F6 key to include the external USB FDD drive driver.
Once you have included the SATA driver * DON T format the drive HARD * or create all partitions because that would erase the included driver!

Another possibility to include the SATA drivers is the use of the * software to nLite.
By using this software, you could include the SATA driver in the new created XP CD.
And then you could boot from the new CD.

This error message appears because you didn't boot from the bootable CD and/or the operating system has not been installed on the HARD drive and the laptop I wanted to boot from the HARD drive.

Original title: computer MOM will not start and I need to recover the data on the hard drive.

It's an old computer and I do not know what version of Windows it was running.  I guess I need a bootdisk of exploitation, but where can I download that?  Or would it be easier to pull and make a secondary drive in my computer that I just replaced?  It works under Windows XP.

    Hello

If the old system does not start could be the hard drive. Put the hard drive in another computer as a 2nd drive and then access the files. If you use a computer XP, Vista or Windows 7, you should be able to access the files, unless the drive has failed.

You can save your files by putting the drive in another computer as a 2nd drive (better) or a USB external drive case and then save up to removable media such as CD, DVD or other USB drives. Of course a real store of the computer or the manufacturer of your system can help to recover the files.

Or you can use a boot Ubuntu CD to back up data. (This will not work if the hard disk is defective or other issues preventing the system from booting from the CD/DVD drive.)

  • Satellite 5100 503: change the HARD drive and start questions

My hard drive in my Satellite 5100 broke down and I want to change it.

According to various posts in the forum, it is not possible to start the 5100 from a CD when there is a (new) hard drive in the machine. And the only way to change the boot sequence is via Windows - what does more - there is no other way to change the settings of the BIOS within Windows.

I looked in the manual - I find no mention after pressing F12 C or any other combination to change the boot sequence (of course I tried yet without result). The only thing I found possible is to press ESC + F1 for BIOS settings default _restore_. And turning the power on by pressing on the left of the space bar gives me the opportunity to Flash a new BIOS.

Is this really so? Because that would mean I'm stuck. And in this case I will just save the money for the new hard drive and throw my laptop... (and probably by another brand next time - but I sincerely hope that is not so much...)

    Thanks in advance.

    Best regards

  • Envy 15-j059nr: Envy 15-j059nr would not start Windows after update to win10 now the hard drive is missing

This system worked before Windows 8.1 it has been upgraded to Windows 10 last year. It's my boyfriends computer and last night it kept getting blue screen dreaded with errors on his hard drive. He kept ignoring. Then, his computer's battery died and when he started upward, he could get a blue screen and act as if it would repair itself and would just start all over again. He was going in a loop. He did not know what he was doing, but searched on the Internet and ended up messing around any more.

Its installation was 850 GB HD 3 partitions, it was set up as a Raid was one the main C drive, one was the restore disc and the other hides. He changed the disk. He changed a few things in bios too, but I don't know exactly what.

The problelm I have right now, is that when that I boot without the USB bootable media, I created, I'm stuck at a screen that says there is no startup disk and no installed operating system and press F2 to run Diagnostics. When I run the diagnostics, just fine, no errors.

When I try to recover, repair, reimage or anything other that to reinstall, it goes back to the screen I mentioned above which does not allow me to do anything about this either, with the exception of past at the command prompt, which is X and not C. I did a dir/w and only seen the windows files are here , but under the users directory, documents and images are empty, so don't know if it's even watch what I think it is.

When I want to install Windows 10, everything goes smooth and then bam, he wants that pilots. I can't find the drivers for this laptop who don't have the .exe and require installation. This notebook is not a CD/DVD player on it. I don't mind doing a reformat and start all over, if I could recover his pictures on his hard drive. They are his grandfather.

    Help, please!

    Thank you in advance!

    You are the very welcome.

Unfortunately, I woudn't be able to help you with that.

I'm afraid that the PC is now a useless paperweight because of the BIOS update has failed.  There is usually no recourse other than to replace the motherboard.

If all goes well, you were able to recover the files before that happened, and if not, get a SATA cable adapter USB and read the hard drive on another PC.

This does not change, even if I start without a DVD player.

  • When you try to re - install Windows XP, it does not detect the hard drive.

Hi all. I tired to do a reinstall of Windows XP today. It seems to take a lot of time, and then I did a very stupid thing. I turned off the laptop that I had to go. Now when I try to start the laptop on the cd, I get as far the screen where I have to press on enter to install Windows XP pro on the system or press R to repair. The problem is that there is now no facilities to choose from in the box below and the system is not recognizing the hard drive. I can't even as much as the screen to format the drive. When I press ENTER to install windows xp, then I get a blue screen telling me that the system shuts down to protect my pc. Is anyone able to tell me what to do to solve this problem please. Thank you very much in advance for your help. Noel

original title: I did a stupid thing... Windows XP Pro

Sounds like a hard drive problem then. Your drive is maybe defective. First of all, you can use the partition of diagnostic Dell (F12) for its determination.

In case there is a SATA problem, press F2 to enter the BIOS and change the setting of hard disk SATA to legacy. (Might as well try this first.)

    herikhi

    Hi herikhi,

Change the start of the base system (Input Output) BIOS setting to boot from the hard drive.

Consult the manual of the manufacturer, to do the same thing.

NOTE: BIOS change / semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from configuration can resolved BIOS/CMOS settings. Changes to settings are at your own risk.

  • I have an Acer Aspire One Netbook. (No DVD player). From the start on the hard drive, I get a black screen with a blinking cursor.

I have an Acer Aspire One Netbook.  (No DVD player).  From the start on the hard drive, I get a black screen with a blinking cursor.  The cursor does not type.  For me, maybe I need to reinstall windows 7 and startup tasks are corrupt.  I have my product key genuine for the computer, but no way to get to windows.  How to restore windows on a netbook that won't start?

original title: Netbook Windows 7 problem

New computers coming often pre-installed with Windows 7 have what is called a recovery partition. This is used to reinstall an operating system in the case of a system failure. To access it, you need to start when you start your computer by pressing a function key. This can be either F1, F2, F9, F10, F11, F12 key DEL or tab. See the manual that came with your PC for instructions on how to reinstall Windows.

If your recovery partition is not available or damaged, you must contact the manufacturer of your computer, and request that a defined recovery disk you can use to reinstall Windows 7. They could practice a small shipping and handling.

Borrow a 32 bit Genuine Windows 7 friends DVD disc if you know someone who has one.

Make an image of the DVD, you can use a program like ISO Recorder to do.
    http://alexfeinman.com/

If you don't have a Windows 7 DVD to borrow, try to upload a picture:

    32 bit
    http://MSFT-DNL.digitalrivercontent.NET/msvista/pub/X15-65732/X15-65732.ISO

You change the content of the. ISO file and delete the ei.cfg file. After having edited burn it to a blank DVD disc or put it on a USB key. Startup, it will reveal all editions of Windows 7, select the Starter edition. More information in the following article on how to change the file ei.cfg

Utility delete EI.cfg allows you to use a product key
    http://Lifehacker.com/#%215438005/eicfg-removal-utility-lets-you-use-any-product-key-with-your-Windows-7-disc

You can create a bootable USB stick with the following:
    Download Windows 7 USB/DVD tool
    http://store.Microsoft.com/help/ISO-tool

Skip entering your product key Windows 7 and complete the installation.

When you reach the desktop, click Start, right-click on computer

    Click on properties

Scroll down to the Windows Activation

Click the link x days before activation.

Click on the link that says: "show me other ways to activate.

Enter the product key (this is the key of Windows 7 Starter, which would be located on the COA sticker at the bottom of your laptop)

    Click next

Select the Activation of the phone

Click Next when you enter your key page

    Select your country

Click Next, call the number listed

Be sure to explain your situation to the Appeals Officer.

They will give a confirmation ID, enter it

Click next to complete the activation.

Once activation is complete, enjoy yourself, make a backup of your installation of Windows 7 Starter please? You will need to do this an external hard drive, but its worth it. Because if your installation is messed up, all you have to do is to restore from a backup.

    http://www.notebooks.com/2009/10/24/how-to-backup-your-installation-of-Windows-7/

Once the backup is complete, you can do an upgrade to Windows 7 Professional by using the product key that you have, if it's a full key, Windows 7 Professional Anytime Upgrade retail or upgrade license key.

Click Start, type Anytime Upgrade, follow the on-screen Wizard, enter the key of Windows 7 Professional on demand, click Next and restart your computer when you are prompted. Less than 10 minutes, you should be upgraded to Windows 7 Professional and your files and settings retained.

Reactivate the installation, you may also do it by phone:
    Activate Windows 7 manually:
    1. click on start and in the search for box type: slui.exe 4

    2. press enter on your keyboard

    3. Select your country.
    4. Select the telephone activation option and brace yourself for a real person.

  • Change the hard drive of my Inspiron 9300

    Hello!

This is my first post on this forum.

    Since July 2005, I have a Dell Inspiron 9300.

As it is now out of warranty, I would change the hard drive in it.

So I have a few questions, I'm looking for answers to if possible.

I will present my questions in two different parts, the first is on the material, the disc itself and then the software thing.

    (A) material:

    (1) should what equipment I expect? I know it's a hard disk IDE, so I guess I have to get the same kind, in parallel ATA works?

    (2) I read here and there that the BIOS is limited to hard drives 120 GB, because more is not supported by the latter. You know a way to expand this capacity? (Only a medium chest!)

    (3) what kind of drives advise you? (Brand, speed, etc...)

    (4) I read on description hard drive 'IDE ATA 100' or ' IDE ATA 133 "in online shops, you know what it is?

    (B) software:

    (1) I would like to be sure that I will install the same things as when I do "Ctrl + F11", for the utility norton Ghost (want to keep this option!), which reinstall the entire computer with factory settings. I will get this during the installation with the recovery CD? Or you have a way to get this? (I want the same computer I have today, except a different HDD only!)

    (2) do you know how to create a D: partition, so that I have a part for programs and a part for the storage of the files?

    (3) how to install, is it: replace drive HARD; start the computer while starting on the recovery CD, Partition the disk HARD C: and D: (with the D: partitioned within the C: drive, I guess) and complete the installation of windows with the included Dell factory settings?

I hope that I won't bore you with my questions, and you'll be able to answer. It would be nice, because I'm not a pro from the computer, only an amateur.

    Thank you very much

    Vincent
