  I've got 2 separate but really annoying problems with my W540 20BH:

  -display brightness keys does not:

  upon awakening from Hibernation, sometimer (really, randomly!) mode the brightness screen (Fn + F5/F6) keys do not work... If the brightness of the screen is stuck on max, min, or an intermediate level...

  Any who experience this problem? How to solve it? Is there a way to stop and restart the process that controls the Fn keys?

  (2) when you plug a headphone 4 pin, the headphone volume is running, microphone of the headset is turned on; the speaker volume is always turns off.

  (3) when you unplug the headphones, the volume of the speakers is always 0

  After each start up, the audio channel is 0, but don't commute between the helmet when it is plugged!

  I have to open the Control Panel, properties of realtek. With this window, disconnect and reconnect the headset. Now the volume has its normal behavior.

  Never heard of mappings of its I/O... If the old sticks still work, it must be something with the new RAM, maybe back to PC World and try another.  You bought RAM more recent than what was your system, but the new sticks must be retro-compatible.  PNY and MemoryMaster are good brands.

  d. where it says 'Sound' in green letters, there are three options below that are in blue, click on "manage Audio devices.

  e. This will bring up a window titled "Sound".

  I have a laptop HP 2000 with Windows 8.1. At some point, the hdmi output to monitor stopped to send an audio signal. The video signal is very good.

  It is marked in the Device Manager: 1 - STD HDMI TV (AMD High Definition Audio)

  The monitor and hdmi cable work well with other computers.

  I have disabled/enabled the HDMI device and also updated drivers (Windows says that my drivers are up to date).

• No Audio output device is installed... need more suggestions I already tried the solutions proposed by the Help menu.

  I get the message "no Audio output device is installed" with the little thing red x in the lower right corner of my computer screen. I looked up problems and common solutions.
  I uninstalled the device drivers in the menu equipment and also in the menu programs and features, after this, I restarted my computer before reinstalling.
  I did it too, but instead of reainstalling manually, I plugged my audio in a different speaker and let the computer to reinstall the driver by itself.
  I restarted the computer, the system restored the computer, put it to sleep, awake it save, close and let rest before restarting it.
  I checked the BIOS menu and changed the sound is activated instead of auto and tried uninstalling and reinstalling my drivers with this option, but the small x is still there.
  When I go into my control panel Device Manager and open the sound video and game controllers, I see my Realtek High definition audio. I open it to properties and it says it's working properly... then why my sound is not working? I've also updated the drivers and downloaded specifically on the realtek site, but no difference was filed.

  The sound is working again. I went camping for 2 days and came back, and it worked. It did NOT work once again before I left, he was dead. It sounds terrible, it of quiet and fades quieter and the but it works.

  None of the suggestions given here did something to help my problem. The proposed update does not work on my computer, I couldn't even download.   I recently bought a predator G9-591 with GTX 980 m graphics card. When I connect the laptop with my home theater system (which in turn conencts to a TV) via an HDMI cable, everything was great and the audio output is through output Audio Intel. But when I run the game, the sound doesn't come out of the Home Theater system more, according to the portable speaker.

  I guess it's because when I play the game, the phone goes from integrated graphics Intel at GTX980m. I couldn't find a Nvidia high definition Audio System output (both in the Strait and the Device Manager), Realtek (the speaker), and output Audio Intel (integrated graphics card I think).

  (1) is the GTX980m in the laptop has audio output function? If so, how can I activate it?
