Noisy DVD...

Any way to make the quiet dvd watching movies?

You have a parameter in the Power Manager where you can choose high performance, silent or normal for the speed of the CD-Rom. You can find it under 'Global Power Setting-> advanced options'. I don't know if it will help, but you can try to change this setting for quiet. If it makes not a difference, it would be useful to know what kind of Thinkpad, we are talking about here.

    Hi ppl, there.

I have a satellite P200 and if I put a disc in the dvd drive, it is very noisy until the disk has been read.

Any one of the other with that?

    Hi Graham

Do you think this loud noise could be linked to the defective CD/DVD drive?
My drive is also noisy until the CD or the DVD reaches full speed.
In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with the drive, but if you wish, you can contact the ASP in your country for details.

  • Noisy dvd/cdrw drive Sat Pro A100

    Hello

Ive just got my new laptop A100 Sat Pro and check that everything works
I noticed that when accessing a dvd in the dvd/cdrw Mat * one player combo UJDA770
He is much stronger with pronounced sounds/cries as he accessed but subsequently, he
can play a movie dvd without much noise. Including these noises ar not when a cd is
    in the drive.

I am new to laptops, and I don't know if this is normal because the disk is so small?

You could someon please let me know if this is normal or not?

    Thank you

    Kevin

    Hey Kevin,

As you can imagine, it's not easy trying to diagnose noises without being able to hear, but there are various noises emanating from the optical drives depending on what they are doing both.

These sounds are usually a slight noise whirring when the disc actually rotates. applied by a series of light clicks as the lens unit is positioned to read the titles of the index. Once this has been done the unit should return to its noise whirring normal light as the disc is read progressively.

However, some drives, including the data (games or software) will produce more evidnet clicking and rattling from the unit of the lens are having to constantly reposition themselves in various locations on the drive.

In addition to the above, some discs are not quite concentric and this can set up a slight oscillation of the disc as it spins. This will be evident by a distinct rumbling noise as the disc rotates.

If the device emits a loud noise then it will normally indicate a contact between the disc and a part of the possible training of the lens or the drive nut. This is definitely not normal and if this occurs several times and on different disks, then I'd have the optical drive, checked by a Toshiba ASP.

  • Incredibly noisy DVD

I ordered my W700 on 11/19 and received a shipdate 11/27. 27 came and he moved to 12/7, so I called and cancelled. And that's 2 days ago, I get the thing shipped anyway, so enough of the backstory...

The laptop is fine except the drive DVD is strong as a mixer. Easy solution? Not so much. Lenovo is apparently out of stock on DVD readers (so who still fix it). I'm not going to ship this thing in for repairs and wait. So I decide to send it back and am bounced from one line to the other with 15 minute + wait time to speak to someone to whom I gave up on. I think my next step is cancelling the charge with my Bank and you letting the guy contacting him.

He spends on all of your Tv dvd series? or just isolated from discs produce this noise, are also automatically using bootleg discs or legitimate? This problem means generally either the drive is unbalanced or the discs themselves are not perfectly symmtrical. Also in your bios in performance mode, choose silence rather than performance for the disk drive.

Very often, when I insert a CD or a DVD on DVD ROM, it produces great sound. Although the display is fine.

Swap the optical drive out for a well-known work. The replacement drive is quiet? If Yes, take the original drive since it is a failure. MS - MVP - Elephant Boy computers - don't panic!

  • DVD, noisy audio cd

My dvd, cd audio is noisy, I have a dell Latitude D630, I use XP Pro sp3

    Hi Ronald k. McKinley,.

-What is the player you use to play the audio CD/DVD?
-What type of file with which you are facing this problem?
-Did you change on your computer before this problem?
-You try to play audio on the CD/DVD directly?

If so, copy the contents of the CD/DVD into the computer and then play and check if the same behavior parts.

  • Noisy CD/DVD drive on my Satellite A60

Hi I have a Satellite A60 and for some reason any CD/DVD player makes a terrible on some CDs and DVDs, but not on the other noise. It seems that the CD is rubbing on something, but not what it now makes noises with the CD I played for centuries. Ideas please

    Hi Roger,

There are two possibilities for this problem: -.

    1. the CDs themselves can be slightly distorted with slightly off-center hole, which makes the disc "wobble" that turns and can cause the noise you describe.

    2. the latch of blockage in your CD player can have worn insofar as it does not lock the CD in position correctly. This will also lead to a swing in the disc as it spins and the noise that accompanies it.

Since you say that noise occurs on the disks you used previously, I guess that the second of the two options is the cause then before taking any additional action I recommend to check that the drive is not loose in its mounting in your notebook.

Unfortunately, if all else fails, you may need to replace the drive.

  • Portege R500 - CD/DVD drive no longer works

Does anyone found a resolution to this?

Like David, my DVD Multidrive on my R500 abruptly arrested recently - I can open/close the player, but he does not appear in Windows Explorer as a disk is valid. Do not think that I have nothing installed on the machine.

Interestingly, I never really use the DVD player. Indeed, because of all the * heat * questions, I used to "Power Off" of the device, via the DVD icon in the system tray (i.e. option enabled me to Power on / off the unit). So while the power was OFF, it's cold the machine, and so the fan was rarely on.

Now that my computer no longer recognizes the drive, this icon it simply shows that disabled, no possibility to the power on/off switch, and this noisy fan is almost always on. In addition, because it seems that the machine tries to recognize the drive subject time at startup, all re-start, reboot the machine now takes a few minutes to start...

For the optical drive firmware update help? Or is there some other fix?

    Hello

    > but my Portege R500 CD/DVD drive has stopped working the next day, I had attached an external CD - RW drive for me to burn discs. Maybe it did disable my built-in drive?
    This could be the key;
Try to access the Device Manager and remove the CD/DVD player listed and all USB host controllers and USB root hub.

    Again, restart the laptop.
After new check restart if the CD/DVD drive has been recognized again.

  • Qosmio F60 - issue of DVD - ROM

Guys, anyone of you experience a loud sound when the DVD-ROM works at full speed? The thing is that when I place my hand on the DVD, the noisy sound disappears while the normal sound remains intact. I assumed his fate because of the vibratory movement between DVD-ROM and the casing of the laptop. Is this true for you guys?

Are the media placed correctly in the optical disc drive?
Have you tested with different CD and DVD?

  • Continuous freezing, can't read the DVD

    Hello

I have a Pavilion ze 1230 and constantly have probems freezing. Gel means the cursor won't no matter how much I click or how long wait. I cut the power to solve. But sometimes it's nice for a long time, and it happens sometimes literally every two or three minutes.

Another problem is that I can not watch videos online, so I tried to watch by inserting a DVD, but I can't do it either. The audio is generally OK, but the video is just a series of still images, and then soon it freezes completely.

I brought this to a guy tech, a few months ago and he re-installed Windows, and when I got home, all the same problems were there.

I have XP Professional pack 3 and only use my laptop at home, connected computer with the adapter.

You can use the cooling if the laptop gets hot or if the fan is noisy.

Otherwise I would highly recommend you upgrade memory (hard drive seems ok).

  • Satellite Pro L500-12F - problem with CD/DVD player and screen

    Hello...

I have a few questions on my laptop...

    1. is it normal that the DVD rom on some DVD/CD it is very noisy and vibrates a lot, spesialy on older CD

    2. the lid of my laptop when I close its kinda not in harmony with the rest of the pc it is not fully aligned, but it's a little difficult to see wait when you look for it... but its good on and what is not lost or anything just not setting for the "body" of the laptop

    3. the cover still once, under the screen where the cover is mounted on the 'body' off the laptop so... It is not glued to the screen as the rest of the rolled edges it is right next to him that you can drag into it, so you can see the wires enter the screen etc.
    is this normal?

    -Thank you

    Hey Pedersen37,

    (1) maybe your old CD's doesn't work correctly. What happens if you try the same disks in another computer?

Regarding your display/cover problem if you mean that you can see the cables that they go into the screen I can see it on my laptop. Normally, all the cables are invisible and under the plastic.
He s strange to say something on the subject but maybe a lid plastic isn't installed correctly or a screw is missing

If you think that something isn't normal, you should contact your authorized service provider. They can check the laptop.

  • A30p DVD replacement

I'm tring to fix a defective DVD player on an A30p. It is noisy during operation and no longer works. I think it went wrong.

FRU P/N is 27L 4355 * ASM P/N 92 P 6497 * I find a replacement 27L 4355 drive, but the number of ASM is not the same as the one I replaced. Does anyone know if the number of ASM must be the same on the hot spare, or any 27L 4355 will work?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi dumpsterdivin62,

I don't think it's important, service parts page mentions the P/N compatible for A30p:- http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/migr-39574.html

    I hope this helps.

  • DELL XPS 8100 noisy fan on Windows7 SP1

I always noticed something with my DELL XPS 8100 Windows7 Home Premium.

The original system came with the Seagate ST31000528AS, whenever the system was rebuilt from the reinstallation DVD, I noticed that if the drivers from DELL has not been installed, the fan would be extremely noisy nonstop.

Recently my hard drive went, I bought a digital WS1003FZEX of Western.  Guess what, the DVD of resettlement is unable to complete Windows on it, I guess that the device was not supported at this time there.  I got a copy of Windows7 SP1 DVD of the trial and was able to install Windows7 Home Premium using the DELL license key.  The only problem, the fan noise is unbearable, even if I had asked all the drivers for DELL.  Can anyone recommend how to fix this annoying fan?  Do you know all the drivers that are required at this address?  Unfortunately, DELL has no new drivers for my out of the Service Tag support.

Also, I tried the Technical Preview of Windows 10, the fan is very quiet.  Windows 10 is finally out, I heard that Windows7 users should be able to switch to Windows 10 free supposingly.

The noise finally put fan hands on a picture of Windows7 without SP1, disappeared after having installed the drivers from DELL.  Don't know what SP1 was that the pilots did not help.

Thank you for responding to this post.
