Non-accessible HARD drive is setup installation of Windows XP on my laptop

Hello

I have my 144TU Compaq Presario CQ40 (Intel C2D T5800, 160 GB of HDD, 2 GB of RAM).
I have installed XP using a customized bootable XP to support SATA drivers using nLite.
I use the same CD custom in this slot the entire post, so the problem of SATA not supported by XP is elimintated.
I also setup a ubuntu installation I've ever used.
I had a dual boot on my system with Windows XP Pro and Linux Ubuntu, last week I tried to delete the partitions of Ubuntu from Win XP computer management window. The system got hanged and I did a force close. When the computer reboots, the system hangs after a few minutes on the desktop. After several restarts (force) the OS is not boot at all. When I tried to do a formatting the OS drive and delete the Linux partitions using the XP bootable CD, the installation XP is unable to access the disk hard and don't show any of the logical drives as well as readers of Linux. The box which offers the list of the installed OS and their readers is to give a message that cannot access/mutual HARD drive.
By mistake, I think I can have deleted the partition that had the top MBR. (I'm sure I didn't want to remove the disk from the operating system. I tried to remove the drive that was on display as unallocated (ubuntu leads usually shows as unallocated)).
I tried the fixmbr command in the XP Recovery console, but it says that the drive we are trying to access is not available.
I tried to use a mini Windows XP live CD (Hirens Bootable CD), which had an option to scan the HARD drive and find partitions.
The HARD disk is scanned and my 2 XP partitions are located. It gives me the possibility to mount the partitions on the XP mini.
I mounted the partitions and my 2 XP disks are intact. I think that there is a problem when accessing the HARD drive to the start-up level.
Help, please.

Thank you
Gordon

Ok...

That's what I did.

I was much concerned of my HARD drive to my data.

So I unplugged my laptop HARD drive and carried it on the desk of a friend who had a SATA port.

Plugged here and thank God it was detected, deleted all partitions and did a full format of the HARD drive.

Fresh made 3 partitions and plugged the HARD drive into my laptop and installed WinXP which was a success.

Kind regards

Gordon

original title: installation of Windows 7

    Hey Joe,

I suggest that you visit the gigabyte website for your region (and/or the site global http://www.gigabyte.com/?f=g ) and check your motherboard for compatibility with Windows 7.

The problem you are experiencing would imply that Windows 7 has no native driver support for your disk controller, so if Gigabyte don't have drivers that you are locked unless you buy a discreet disk controller that is compatible Windows 7.

Please mark this as useful or response if applicable.

On the other hand, you have this posted in a forum of Windows XP when it is really a problem of Windows 7.

You say that you have started from the XP CD, but something is wrong with that
you do. Just boot from the CD and follow the prompts for a
clean install. A new installation by formatting the
drive and does not care what version of Windows is installed (or
even if any version of Windows is installed.

If Windows 7 is pre-installed on laptop, Mike instructions don't you will lose Windows 7. If you bought Windows 7 separately and allows you to format the computer, which also does not let you lose thel travel when you format the drive from your installation disc.

Probably, you need to boot in the BIOS of the computer and changed on the hard drive in IDE mode, SATA, so it can be recognized by Windows XP.

Before that you plan to replace Windows 7 with Windows XP. Have you tried to familiarize yourself with the operating system first?

If you want to run Windows XP, you can consider to dual boot Windows 7 and Windows XP. You first need to know if your computer is compatible with Windows XP. Much more modern computers are gradually support for Windows XP.

It is as if Windows 7 does not recognize it as a hard drive.

Photo 1 (installation of windows 7)

    Photo 2 (diskpart cmd.exe)

I'm totally ideas and I think it's a simple solution that I don't know how or where to look.

    He solved.

What I did this from the site Microsoft...

Method 8: Use the Diskpart.exe utility to clean the disk, and then run the Windows Installer again

If you have tried all the methods that are listed in this section and the problem persists, use the Diskpart.exe utility to clean the disk, and then run the Windows Setup program again.

Note Use this method only if you want to perform a new installation of Windows. When you clean the hard disk, it is formatted. All data on the hard drive and all the partitions are deleted permanently. We strongly recommend that you back up the files on the hard disk before cleaning the disc.

To use the Diskpart.exe utility to clean the hard disk, follow these steps:

    1. Insert the DVD into the DVD drive.
    2. On the disk selection screen, press SHIFT + F10. A command prompt window opens.
    3. Type diskpart and press ENTER to open the diskpart tool.
    4. Type list disk and press ENTER. A list of available hard disks.
    5. Drive of salt of type number , and then press ENTER. number is the number of the hard disk you want to clean. The hard drive is now selected.
    6. Type det disk, and then press ENTER. A list of partitions on the hard disk. This information is used to verify that the correct drive is selected.
    7. Make sure that the disk does not contain required data, type clean all and then press ENTER to clean the disk. All partitions and all data on the disc is removed entirely.
    8. Type exit and press ENTER to close the diskpart tool.
    9. Close the command prompt window.
    10. Click the Refresh button to update the disk selection screen. This step lists the disk. (I installed the driver in this step)
    11. Restarted the computer because the interface was giving me errors.
    12. Run Windows Setup to perform a new installation of Windows.
