Hello

If this is a new laptop, chances are that there is no available for this purpose XP driver to make it work correctly with XP.

Web site of the manufacturer of the laptop computer to check for the XP drivers for your laptop model.

If no driver is available, you're wasting your time trying to install XP.

If the XP drivers are available, here's how to install XP Professional;

    In the FAQ, I think this means that the HARD drive is broken or undetectable. * However, this is not the case *, it is fresh from the store and perfectly readable with a live CD. I tried to reinstall windows, and which went perfectly, its only when it's startup time this nasty error.

    To install Windows, you need the SATA drivers.
    You can set the SATA to IDE mode as Akuma said but I find that it is not a good solution. In IDE mode, you will have lost a little performance and the AHCI is faster.

    If you need to download the SATA drivers. The driver, you can find on the Web from Toshiba called Storage Manager site.
    Download the drivers and press on after having started from the CD F6 to load. For that you need an external floppy drive and if you n t have one that you can build your own installation with nLite disc.

    Hello

    Seems that the laptop can not find the bootable source.
    This means that the HARD drive is malfunctioning or the boot sector is defective.

    By the way; have you tried to change the boot order in the BIOS?

    You cannot use a USB on Mac 2011 Installer. Please burn the ISO on a physical DVD Windows (a DVD - R Carbon SL on the rate of burning slower is better) and use it to install Windows. The file Info.plist changes only allowing the creation of USB, but does not fully support a USB Installation.

    Hi Robert

    AFAIK This oldie can treat only 1.3 GB HARD drive. How much capacity has a new HARD drive?
    Unfortunately, it is not easy to say what is the problem, because who knows what you do exactly and what operating system you want to use. Just for info. This old Portege comes with Windows 95 and you should try to use the same operating system.

    "Invalid system disk error means that Windows Setup could not copy the system files on the hard drive.

    Also, check the download page for Toshiba under http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com/cgi-bin/ToshibaCSG/download_drivers_bios.jsp?service=EU and under archive, you will find some useful stuff for this old book.

    Good luck!

    Hello

    Especially this message appears if the laptop can not find a bootable data carrier or the CD-ROM or the HARD drive is not able to start.
    You have a boyfriend of good feelings. If you want to install the Win98, you first of all the accompanying disk. (see the page of the Toshiba driver)

    The accompanying disk contains programs to set up Toshiba computers
    installation information and test equipment. It also contains files and utilities that allow you to get the most out of your Toshiba computer and are capable of detecting your CD-ROM drive on the Toshiba computer during the boot process.

    If you have not already done so, put this disk in the A: floppy drive
    Restart your computer by pressing CTRL-ALT-DELETE. This will activate the Toshiba companion disk utility.

    If you need access to your CD-ROM drive, then remove the word "rem" out the following lines in the Autoexec. BAT and CONFIG. SYS on the accompanying disk.

    REM if exist toscd001 a:\mscdex D:TOSCD001 /M:10 (AUTOEXEC. BAT)
    REM device = a:\toscdrom.sys (CONFIG. (SYS)

  • Using HP restore - error Non system disk media

    Recently, I received a HP desktop computer that had a bad hard drive. I buy a Seagate 2 TB disk and I also bought the HP recovery media to restore the machine to factory default.

    From the start until the recovery media, I was presented with the option to restore the default settings, walking on the GUI informs me that it is format the drive and reinstall applications, he invites to indicate the disc #2 as expected and ends so ask for a reboot. Date that the system fails to boot with an error message "Non-system disk".

    I started the system with a linux live CD and checked the disk through fdisk to see if it was something simple. I noticed that the first partition is not bootable, and the second partition was. I have enabled the flag of boot on the first partition, without change. I have advanced and reconfigured the drive with fdisk, partition table creation and formatting of the first partition, and then rerun the recovery disks. No change.

    I found a few entries discussing the disks seagate and HP machines, as well as a firmware fix, but I see nothing announces a 2 TB as a problem drive.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks for your suggestions, but I fear that they have been without result, and I have some additional information for others with similar problems.

    (1) in the disc of recovery there is that something called a Menu "manufacturers", he is now CTRL in the CD is loading, pressing the BACKSPACE key at the right time. This menu has several options, including wiping them out the hard drive and the 'DMI system info' copy of disc 1.

    I followed a few guides to use this menu to try to get my new hard drive, or the spare WD 40 GB working, all without success.

    Thus, this menu has not solved my problem, but to know there lead me to this bit of information.

    (2) HP participates in a process called "Tattoo" the MOBO or HD. This process essentially makes the only function of system with the original equipment, including the hard drive. According to 2 people separated from the HP support, I spoke with, the only way to get this system running and upward would be to buy a hard drive directly from HP. I couldn't find enough documentation on this to be useful anywhere, apart from the realization that it has NOTHING to do with the hardware compatibility and from my point of view, everything about HP, forcing consumers to buy directly from them, thus hindering competition.

    Now for the rest of my rants:

    Booting from a temporary copy of Win 7 allowed me to update the Firmware of the HARD drive, but the Seagate firmware update are listed says "no update firmware of your player"(not exact verbage). "» I was able to get the old HD to boot, unstable but it started and I was able to do a restore system to it and got the update of the BIOS installed, but once when I tried upgrading the firmware on Seagate it said was not an update of my drive. I confirmed the new model number and this is the only one listed.

    Must the drive be formatted for the update of the firmware to take? That doesn't seem like it should be...

    I'll try to copy it to the partition on the new disk of tonight, but honestly, I feel that I lost my money with restoring HP discs, so I'll just go buy a retail copy of Windows 7 upgrade and use it as the operating system.

    Very pleased with this HP product.

  • HP Z820 - BIOS 02.55 rev A - SSD on LSI SAS 2308 do not start... "Non-system disk...". »

    Hello

    MY Z820 workstation is equipped with an Intel 520 240 GB SSD as boot drive, on the integrated LSI SAS 2308 controller. It is a GPT disk.

    I just tried to update my BIOS Rev 02.08 Z820. at 02.55 a. rev.

    The update succeeded, and in the BIOS, I check that all the settings are the same as before the update. On the boot, however, I get an error saying "Non system disk or disk error."

    Mass strorage option ROM is set to EFI mode.

    No matter what the settings, it does not start in Windows.

    I started 02.08 BIOS Rev A and now all is well again.

    Is there a compatibility issue with the BIOS 02.55 Rev A combo, Intel SSD 520 and LSI SAS 2308?

  • Need help: invalid system disk error

    I must have left my laptop on the week last with only a small battery backup as victory, that I woke up in the morning, he had absolutely no power.  When I plugged the laptop and I tried to reboot it wasn't going to the normal microsoft vista home page.

    Instead of this turned back or the system bios and on the top of the screen, he said.  Invalid system disk error.  I pressed ESC and immediately thereafter loaded up normally.  Once on the page of windows, he showed he was about 8 windows updates.  (this every way - when I left my computer on automatic update of windows, running and starting to update my computer.  Since I only had a remaining battery minimum computer must have lost all power during the update.  Because update has not been completely loaded my computer now has a problem starting).

    Whenever I turn on computer, need me the black screen with the comment of the system disk error.  While hitting escape when this screen is easy to do and makes windows vista starts normally - I'd rather have a completely normal vista installation program.

    Help, please.

    What should I do?

    Follow these steps to try to solve your problems of boot.

    Restore point:

    http://www.howtogeek.com/HOWTO/Windows-Vista/using-Windows-Vista-system-restore/

    Do Safe Mode system restore, if it is impossible to do in Normal Mode.

    Try typing F8 at startup and in the list of Boot selections, select Mode safe using ARROW top to go there > and then press ENTER.

    Try a restore of the system once, to choose a Restore Point prior to your problem...

    Click Start > programs > Accessories > system tools > system restore > choose another time > next > etc.

    http://www.windowsvistauserguide.com/system_restore.htm

    Read the above for a very good graph shows how backward more than 5 days in the System Restore Points by checking the correct box.

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    If restore work not and you do not have a Vista DVD from Microsoft, do a repair disc to do a Startup Repair:
    Download the ISO on the link provided and make a record of repair time it starts.
    Go to your Bios/Setup, or the Boot Menu at startup and change the Boot order to make the DVD/CD drive 1st in the boot order, then reboot with the disk in the drive.
    At the startup/power on you should see at the bottom of the screen either F2 or DELETE, go to Setup/Bios or F12 for the Boot Menu.
    When you have changed that, insert the Bootable disk you did in the drive and reboot.
    http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial148.html
    Link above shows what the process looks like and a manual, it load the repair options.
    NeoSmart containing the content of the Windows Vista DVD 'Recovery Centre', as we refer to him. It cannot be used to install or reinstall Windows Vista, and is just a Windows PE interface to recovering your PC. Technically, we could re-create this installation with downloadable media media freely from Microsoft (namely the Microsoft WAIK, several gigabyte download); but it is pretty darn decent of Microsoft to present Windows users who might not be able to create such a thing on their own.
    Read all the info on the website on how to create and use:
    http://NeoSmart.net/blog/2008/Windows-Vista-recovery-disc-download/
    ISO Burner:http://www.snapfiles.com/get/active-isoburner.html
    It's a very good Vista startup repair disk.
    You can do a system restart tool, system, etc it restore.
    It is NOT a disc of resettlement.
    And the 32-bit is what normally comes on a computer, unless 64-bit.
  • Non-System Disk, press any key
    Hi, what it isi have a ST3500320AS. I was on the web site of Seagate and downloaded this ms-sd1autitity that checks the updates of your player. When he starts an application needs to open, but it does not work. What happens now, the Dell splash screen appears, the next screen said, "Non-System Disk, press any key". Well, I do this and the system boots. How can I get rid of this message disk not system. PS I used this "Download SD1A Firmware Update utility". Thank you
    Hi ejn63, yes my BIOS still sees the 2 hard drives. Hard drive 1 is Vista and Win 7 RC and drive 2 is, Win XP and a data partition. When I go to the messagec to press a key, it starts normally in my boot options, which gives me the ability to start in Win 7, Win Vista or Win XP.
  • Win 7: how to pass message Non system disk during startup?
    Hello
    I was updating my PC on the site of the OEM. I downloaded and install two Seagate firmware.
    After that, whenever I start my PC, no system disk, please strike any key to continue spell before the start of Win 7.
    May I ask why? Is it because this firmware is not for my hard drive?
    Can I uninstall the firmware, it is very risky to cause more problem?
    Any way for me to move this to Direct Win 7 boot?
    Next time I'll be more careful during the installation of the drivers of the OEM site.
    Thank you
    Low
    Hi there,
    You can enter the boot order in the BIOS and change the Boot order to hard drive as the first boot device.
    You may need to change your computer's BIOS settings.
    Important: Change the BIOS (Basic input output system) / Semiconductor (CMOS) to complementary metal oxide settings can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from starting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that problems resulting from the configuration of the BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Changes to settings are at your own risk.
    For more information, see the article:
    BIOS: Frequently asked questions
    You can also get in touch with Seagate support and look for the same thing.
  • Pavilion dv6 - 7095ca: no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key
    Thanks for your help and please excuse my bad English.
    Please check item 7, if you're in a hurry. This is the point with my Pavilion DV6 - 7095-CA:
    (1) the operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit), the provided original with my 7095CA Pavilion, more updates HP until 2013, and all Windows updates until July 2015.
    (2) now I can't access the operating system and I have no interface UEFI. I can see that I press F2 at startup, just a test simple disk in BIOS f.0Une (the test shows that the disc is OK)
    (3) return in 2013 it took a drive failure. I did replace the disk and reinstall original Win7, all updates, including the HPS, win7 updates and all my personal software.
    (4) at this time, I bought a spare hard drive and did a complete copy of the disc using Partition Wizard bootable cd. The second disc has been tested and worked perfectly, with all of my personal software on this subject.
    So I have 2 HDs identical with the same system on both drives, fully working and tested.
    (5) a few days ago I came across the HP website and made a few updates, including the BIOS f.0Une (the last BIOS update, was of course).
    (6) after BIOS update ran, I received the message "no boot device - insert boot disk and press any key".
    (7) I couldn't solve the problem, so I did remove the hard drive and install my backup drive, which lay in a dry place without danger from 2013.
    (8) I turned on the computer and got the same message "No boot device - insert boot disk and press any key", and I couldn't find any way to solve this problem.
    Now I'm doing a new installation on a third HD everything works very well, so far, in the new facility and I will never buy HP again.
