  I have a big problem. I tried the Vmware Data Recovery solution, but has had some issues with IO on the SMB destination errors, then several times, this was abandoned etc.

  Now 2 days later I see that I have multiple snapshots on several servers. They do not appear in the Snapshot Manager, but they appear when I click on edit settings and click on the discs (and when I ssh to the host and 'ls' ed. of vmfs)

  I have tried to create a new snapshot and then remove it, and then it is removed from the Snapshot Manager. But it's still there! I tried removesnapshots vmware-cmd "vmx-file", and he told me that the snapshot is deleted. hassnapshots also say no.

  I tried to add a snapshot and remove the GUI (the one who had no snapshot) and it works.

  Ideas?

  After some research, in my case the file base for each virtual computer hard and all deltas except for the most recent include the following line in their hard file:

  DDB. Deletable = "false".

  I was able to remove these snapshots and restore performance by following these steps:

  (1) power down the virtual machine, save all files to a safe place

  (2) in the esx console, cd to the path of VM vmfs touched

  (3) use nano to set ddb.deletable = 'false'-> ddb.deletable = "true" in the root hard (usually hard).  Do the same for any other base files hard disk you have if you have more than one virtual hard disk.

  (4) execute script for comment on the shell of what follows the "ddb.deletable ="false"' lines in the whole of the vmdk files snapshot delta."  Answer y for each file to be replaced if you are prompted:

  for y in *-000?. VMDK; do sed "s/ddb.deletable =" false "/ #ddb.deletable = 'false' / g' $y > temp;"» MV temp $y. fact

  (5) create a snapshot (in virtualcenter client either via vmware-cmd /vmfs/full/path/vmname.vmx createsnapshot foo foo 0 0 esx in console)

  (6) delete all the snapshots (whether in customer virtualcenter or vmware-cmd /vmfs/full/path/vmname.vmx removesnapshots)

  (7) power turn it on the virtual machine, make sure that all right.

  I'm not sure if the upgrade of 3.5-> 4 inserted the parameter initial ddb.deletable that then spread to all deltas, or what exactly happened.  I have also tried (and at present cannot recommend) modifying the vmdk files and from without first powering of the virtual machine.

  I'm suspicious again test VMware Data Recovery, but will do so once I changed all virtual machines, we run and report if the problem has been solved permanently.  I have 2 groups that show this behavior and the other is not, so in theory, the product is able to work

  You can access from the finder Time Capsule? If this isn't the case, then Time Machine will not work.

  You upgrade the computer snow to El Capo and keep the same name?

  If you want to backup, it is best to start again... clean the new backup any attempt to add a previous backup failed.

  I recommend that you actually erase the TC... do a complete factory reset and start again.

  The previous backup if necessary can be archived on a USB drive connected to the TC assuming that Airport utility can still access it. Airport utility accesses the TC?

  With update installs all sorts of things can go wrong... so tell me more if you can not get anywhere.

  I did run a daily backup to a computer in a network with windows backup and Restore Center. the hard drive crashed on this computer and we had to install another. When I try and use advanced restore / backup made on a different computer, I can navigate to the backup on the network computer folder but when I select the folder and click Next it gives me an error:

  Just to add additional information; The computer with the replaced hard drive running Vista family premium, the path to the backup file is \\HPDESKTOP\Public\Backup\Bobruncer-pc\.

  There is another folder under Bobruncer-pc called Bobruncer-pc and all the backup files. I restore from the correct location? Also, the backup folder is 226 concerts but the backups were made from a hard drive of 80 GB... should I worry about this too?

  Just to clarify, perform you a complete PC Backup or backup and restore?

  When you do return, and restore, it can be saved as a .zip file in the backup folder. You can decompress the file and retrieve the required files.

• Not able to add the snapshot file to the virtual machine

  We have Win 2003 virtual machine running on ESXi 4.0.0 261974. The virtual machine has two vmdk files. We had taken the snapshot a few days back and today by mistake, we have removed one of the vmdk (DB - srv - 000001.vmdk - snapshot file). Now, we are not able to add the snapshot file to the virtual machine. When tried to add the existing vmdk, it displays only the source disk (DB - srv.vmdk). Please, help us to solve this problem.

  The GUI allows only adding the base vmdk. To add the Flash disk, you must manually change the vmx file. Registrations for the formerly removed virtual disk could still exist in the vmx file with... .present = "FALSE". After changing the vmx file you must reload the configuration. To do this, remove the VM of the inventory and add it back again (right-click on the vmx file).

• Not able to download app, it keeps showing waiting

  I'm not able to download the app from the App Store since yesterday morning, so far. He continues to wait.   Thanks for help Apple Support and communities for detailed information on what is happening with your applications. I understand that you have an application that is stuck on "Waiting" and it will not install fully. I have a few steps and parameters that you can check to help you get this app installed.

  If you have already tried downloaded the application on several Wi - Fi networks and signing out and back with your Apple ID, then the next thing that I recommend you to check is that your device isn't trying to perform an iCloud backup or restore from a backup to iCloud.  This can sometimes prevent apps to download or update. You can check by going to settings > general > iCloud > Backup. If a backup is in progress or that she's trying to restore a backup it will let you know on this page.

  If you have several applications that are waiting for installation, you can try to tap on their icons to make them pause and then restart one of them. If this occurs only with a single application, you can try to delete the application and reinstall it with the following steps:

  1. go to settings > general > storage & use iCloud > manage storage (below store)

  2. find the application you are trying to install.

  3. tap on it and then press DELETE to remove it.

  4. go back to the App Store and try to re - download the app with which you experience problems.

  Can you post the error message you get when you try to install or launch iTunes?

  It sounds like you are not booting from the disc but on the hard drive.  To access the options of environmental recovery and the installation option (this is a clean install, made that way you will lose everything on your hard drive, including your data), you will need to boot the disk.  You may need to change the BIOS to do first the CD drive in the boot sequence to boot from the CD.  To do this, hold the screen that tells you the key F to push to enter the menu start or start of installation.  Push it quickly. Make the changes, save your work and exit.  Put the CD in the drive and reboot.  When you are prompted, press any key to boot from the CD.  You're not actually getting Windows - it will not appear until the drive is running.

  I hope this helps.  If you would help as trying to fix the problem instead of simply to do a clean install, all you need to do is ask.

  BTW, you can use Knoppix http://www.knopper.net/knoppix/index-en.html with a good ISO as Copier: http://isorecorder.alexfeinman.com/isorecorder.htm as well as a blank CD.  Boot the disk.  This should give you enough access to the system (if you do not have any other means) to backup your important data (if you have a place to put it).
