Not able to uninstall solidworks2010(32-bit) on Win 7 (64-bit)

Hello. I just bought a new laptop with a win 7 (64-bit) and managed to install the solidworks2010(32-bit) on it. Since it is said that the 64-bit version will run faster than 32-bit, I want to just uninstall the 32-bit version and install a solidworks2011(64-bit). But I can't uninstall the old because of the compatibility: Installation Manager pops up a window saying that the (x 86) installation program cannot run on a computer based on a 64-bit system.

If anyone can tell me how to do? THX.

Who is my first assumption that you're talking about?  I suggest that you try and install the 64-bit version despite (thus ignoring) the problems you are having with the 32-bit version.

System Restore is never convenient if the restore points are way back when.  As you say, they cancel too much other work.

I wonder if you get the error message is due to other unknown errors that the program cannot communicate with you?  "SolidWorks X 86 (32 bit) Edition cannot be installed on a X 64 (64-bit) computer running Windows Vista or Windows 7", seems a bit off, as you have it installed already on the said machine.  I guess that's why I'm looking for other covert reasons for failure and tend to focus on one type of permissions access problem.

Try programs and features once more but this time activate and use the built-in Administrator account which you should activate first.

This example may or may not work for you, with your program?

To work around this problem, you must actually connect to an administrator. Open a command prompt with admin rights by clicking Start, type cmd in the search/run box, hit CTRL-SHIFT-ENTER. At the prompt, type:

NET user administrator / Active: Yes

Then disconnect from your regular account and record as an administrator, you should be able to install the program. When you are finished, open a session to your regular account and, for security reasons, disabling the account administrator for assistance:

Sometimes a manual uninstall is an option, this is to remove the appropriate registry entries and do the same for the folders and files anywhere where they can occur.

    I installed the client of 11g oracle 64-bit with ODP.net and deployed Oracle.DataAccess.dll in the GAC (it is deployed on C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_64\Oracle.DataAccess). But I'm not able to return this dll to a project in Visual Studio, it does not appear in the window "Add reference". Please help me solve this problem. My system is a 64-bit computer.

    I did not submit this problem in the 32-bit computer. In 32-bit computer, I installed the client 32-bit oracle 11g and deployed Oracle.DataAccess.dll in the GAC (it is deployed on C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\assembly\GAC_32\Oracle.DataAccess). I could see this dll to the project in visual studio.

    Do you mean the .net tab? I think the problem is u cant reference 64-bit dll like that, since the studio is a 32-bit application. We had the same problem and our solution was to install 32-bit odp.net on our 64-bit machines, and refer instead.

    Try the following.

    Unless you still have the installer, download the latest version of HP Support Assistant from the page on the link below - download links are to the bottom of the page - and Save the installer to your download folder.

    Then, if you do not have an extraction utility installed, download and install 7-Zip.  Please note that If you have a 64-bit installation, download and install the Installer x 64 64-bit .msi on the link below.

    Then, right click on the HPSA installer you download earlier, select Extract 7 - Zip, select the files, and then click Ok.  The newly extracted folder, right-click on UninstallHPSA and select "Run as Administrator" - you may well see no progress of this attempt uninstalling, then leave the laptop at idle for a good 10 minutes before restarting it.

    Open your download folder and delete the "record HPSA extracted" so you are just left with the original installer that you downloaded.

    Now run Microsoft 'Fixit' on the link below and use it to install the new version of HPSA.

    If you face the issue with the entire application, put the computer to boot once and try to uninstall it.

    Note: When you are finished troubleshooting, follow the steps in "How to reset the computer to start normally after a boot minimum troubleshooting" to reset the computer to start normally.

    For the Home Premium machine, you should not have Nero or Plex for broadcast.

    Go to Safe Mode and remove programs and features, uninstall QTime as well.

    Search by C:\ all the remains, that there will be a LOT, in the registry as well (if you feel safe with that).

    For a cleaning for this operation:

    If you can't mode safe do this way:

    Minimum has no internet.

    Network has internet.

    To exit the MODE without FAILURE, follow the same steps but not CHECKED, Safe Boot.
