Not really erased history

Hello

I'm under 14.0a2 Aurora on Ubuntu Lucid.

Accidentally sometimes, I deleted the "most visited" folder During this time I cleared the cache and history once zillion (the settings are such that everything except passwords is disabled). But nevertheless, when you open a new tab, the nine buttons display the links I had visited for a long time, a long time ago.

I tried several solutions - checked the database with 'places mainenance' and reinstalled 'most visited' folder following the procedure described here , but nothing is. After a soft clearing of the history, the old links appear again in a newly opened tab ('Ctrl-T'). When you surf autour, the recent links are stored and shown in a newtab, but when the story is "deleted", the old ghosts will appear again.

This is also the case when I run Aurora in safe mode, all the modules and themes disabled. Makes no difference.

Thus, the story is not really erased. Where are stored these persistent links, and how can you get rid of them?

Thanks for the tips!

You can try to back up your bookmarks, rename/delete the file places.sqlite (which stores the bookmars & history) of your profile folder profiles - where Firefox stores your bookmarks, passwords and other user data and import your bookmarks again later.

Edit: & the nine currently displayed tabs are stored in chromeapps.sqlite, but is not save to delete this file because it will break other things like the search engine on the default start page.

  • Why 'Download & browser history' compensation crash Firefox and NOT clear my history?

I want my Locator bar autocomplete erased. I use my computer for personnel, business and do not want my story showing on screen sharing meetings when you type in the browser.

    Firefox on Mac (Yosemite) 40.0.

    I go to:

    -History
    -Clear recent history
    -Browsing & download history
    -Click the 'clear now '.

Firefox blocks (beachball), wait a few minutes, still react not, must be "Force Quit" through OS X

Reopen Firefox, Locator bar always auto-termine. History still there.

Starts in Mode safe, disabled all add-ons. Always hangs and does not clear the history.

Disable AutoComplete in the location bar is not a solution. This is a bad solution.

If there is a folder or .js I could remove from the file system, it would be at least something, but I found nothing on these forums who instructed on how to do it. The only solutions are to disable add-ons, start in safe mode, click the button "Clear recent history" even making crash the browser. To try to solve this problem, I had to wipe all my open tabs, re - configure my workspace, all it costs me time and money.

I use Firefox because I'm a software developer and he has the best tools for development, but he is trying more and more to be a browser based on the consumer, as Chrome or Safari, and I hate those intensely. I don't want that. I want something that is a development tool.

  • When I close Firefox and then open it again, the last page I had opened remains open when my new page loading. Didn't help not clear my history and cookies.

When I close Firefox, windows that were open when I closed Firefox are still open, when I click on a link to open a new window. I cleared my history and cookies and even uninstalled and reinstalled Firefox but that did not work. I had this problem since upgrading to version 29. This isn't the only problem I have had with version 29. Anyone else had problems with version 29?

I ended up going in the settings to erase history and define it for clear history when Firefox closes and you select to erase history and kitchen and browsing history, the closing of Firefox. Now the links work very well and the last page I was watching until I closed Firefox is gone when it opens again. Problem solved!

Do not remove the navigation, search and download history on Firefox to clear the "Site preferences".

Is there a way to recover deleted history sites? Also, a way to prevent unauthorized users to erase history?

You need administrative rights to do this. Be careful as it is possible to easily create a very difficult to solve waste.

    Run gpedit.msc

    Reach

    -User configuration

    -Administrative templates

    -Windows components

    -Internet Explorer

    -Delete browsing history

Disable the feature turned on 'delete browsing history '.

You also probably want to configure

    -InPrivate

    Disable the active InPrivate browsing

If you use IE8; Otherwise, the user can simply avoid registering in the first place.

    Also - the browser menus

Tools menu: Disable Internet Options... menu active

would be a good thing; Anyone who shouldn't be allowed to delete the history of should not be also change too much in the Internet Options.

For some reason, changes to this setting of group policy have no effect in IE6 and IE8 on a workgroup computer XP Pro.

In fact, I would like to disable the entire Tools menu item; However, there don't seem to be any means to do.

    Run gpupdate /Wait:0

Any user who cannot access gpedit.msc, editing the registry (regedit.exe, regedt32.exe) or mmc.exe may re-activate it now grayed out in the menu items.

Note: mmc.exe can be activated by right clicking my computer even as a limited user. Remove or deny permissions to these files for administrator users.

I would like to configure them on a per user or user group basis. Does anyone know of a way to do by not part of a domain?

I know no direct way to recover deleted history sites. Perhaps, they enter the trash somewhere. They may be captured by the network of monitoring programs, even if they have been deleted from the personal computer.

    Howdy Yaser of zoysia,

It seems that your screen displays some graphical anomalies when you connect to your user name. I would use these troubleshooting steps in the following article on the resolution of screens:

Restart your Mac in safe mode to reset the default display resolution.

If booting safe mode doesn't resolve the problem, reset your Mac NVRAM and SMC to reset the video ports on your Mac to their default values.

From: get help with graphics issues on external displays connected to your Mac.

Thank you for using communities of Apple Support.
