Not recognizing any CD/DVD media

Was being PC to TV connection and was able to show a DVD.  Next day PC would not recognize a DVD in the drive.  Have used the "MrFixit' that says 'this troubleshooting does not apply to this computer.  Then I tried recommendaation to go in the registry to delete the filter "upper" or "lower", or where that are there!

May have made a few changes to the program to PC to communicate with the TV?

Windows Vista on HP laptop.

    Hello

To get started with a Windows disc set 1 boot on CD/DVD order.

/ Settings (BIOS/CMOS) often F2 as you start then look at screen - 1 place the CD/DVD
in the boot order (remember later). F12 on most Toshiba computers also allows you
to set the order of boot for a start.

Restore points are only usually return 2 weeks or less and backup or repair methods are needed
After this period. Restore points only reset the system functions and backup any programs or
    data.

  • T520 will not use any device DVD

    People,

I was going to do a backup, when I noticed that the DVD player was no longer under my computer.

I when in Device Manager, where he showed with a yellow X... I tried to update the device driver, it said that I had the right device. I've done many other things - nothing has worked.

I really wanted to get the backup made, so I took my portable DVD player/burner and plugged. The laptop computer found a loaded device OK... but it does not appear in my computer. I had the same problem as the DVD drive internal.

Then I got a USB drive external Passport, connected to the same USB port, no problems... He mounted the disk and I made the backup.

My T520 will not use any device DVD... ideas?

  • Satellite A30-514: BIOS is not recognizing the CD/DVD or HARD drive

Hi I'm having a little trouble with my Toshiba Satellite A30 friends. The hard drive died recently, and the cd tray was damaged.
I found an exact replacement unit and we have a new hard drive, but the Bios is not recognizing the hard drive or Cd/DVD unit.

I installed Windows Me via my own laptop and boot from the hard drive of the computer's hard disk, but it still does not recognize the DVD even if Windows does, and it is fully operational.

This prevents me to install windows XP, the operating system it is. If anyone can help, I'd be much obliged, too, I flashed the bios with V1.80.

    Hello

It is the first time I heard about this issue. The Bios doesn't recognize the drive but Windows is possible use it t.
Why suggest that peut t BIOS recognizes the drive? Is it not possible to boot from the drive?
Check if the IDE controller is enabled and the Boot section. The CD/DVD drive should be selected and activated.

I'm trying to do a custom installation of Windows 7 Professional 32 - bit on my Dell Inspiron 530, which is running Windows Vista Home 32 bit.  I ran the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor, which was positive.

The DVD player does not recognize the installation of the new (purchased at microsoft) DVD, although he acknowledges other CD and DVD.
I tried to restart the computer and also the start of the player directly in the BIOS.
In the BIOS I have the following message:
    "No available boot device.

  • Still is not recognizing an external DVD drive

I have a macbook pro with a disk drive that broke after a year I had to buy an external. This is the first time I tried to burn a DVD using this external hard drive and when I press the button generate program tries to use the internal drive rather than the external despite two of them, turning on and make encouraging noises. The message appears saying: Please insert the DVD media, close the tray and click ok. Despite the fact that there is a DVD in the external drive but not internally, he insists on trying to use inside. Is there a way to change the settings so that it will on the external drive instead?

In the build Panel, with DVD drive selected as 'exit,' under 'destination', you should see "recorder" and a triangle for a drop down to select which drive.

  • USB ports not recognizing any device

I plugged into multiple items - iPod, iphone, USB keys.  Nothing is recognized.

    Hi kslicho

    1. What is the exact error message you get when you try to access devices?
    2. for how long have you been faced with this problem?
    3. have you made any recent changes on the computer?

    Method 1:

You can even check if you get the error messages for the devices in the Device Manager. Please refer to the below steps.
    a. open the Device Manager by clicking the Start button, click on the Control Panel, clicking system and Maintenance, and then clicking Device Manager. If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
b b.. in Device Manager, look for the device and then right click on the name of the device and go to properties.
    c. now on the general tab, check the status of the device. Let us know the status of the device. Also you can inform an error code with the State.

    Method 2:

You can even check if uninstalling and reinstalling USB drivers to connect the hard drive. You can disconnect all USB devices and then perform the following steps:

    a. click Startand then click Control Panel.

    b. click system and Maintenance, click Systemand then click on Device Manager.

Note If Control Panel is in Classic view, double-click System, and then click Device Manager.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type the password, or click allow.

    (c) in the Device Manager, double click on extend "Controllers of Bus USB", right click on the host
Controller, click "Uninstall" and then click on 'OK '.

    d. Repeat step 2 to uninstall all items under 'USB Bus controllers'.

Then, restart your computer and Windows 7 will automatically reinstall all USB controllers.

  • CD/DVD drive not recognizing cds or dvds

My CD/DVD drive does not recognize all of a sudden when there is a CD or a DVD of any kind inside: music, movie or data. I have a 3 years old Dell Inspiron 600 m. I run the custom, Diagnostic test and I was unable to run the reading test and get the test because he claims that I did not a digital inside the CD, even if I tried to put in a two burn data CD and a Dell Drivers and Utilities CD. I got an error message saying "error code: 0F00: 2874." MSG: optical drive BIST - pin test failed. »

  • Not recognized in the DVD player

HPg60 120 us laptop, Vista operating system. Whenever I try to play certain DVD, I get an error message telling me that there is no DVD in the player.  If I want to play a DVD, I should insert it in the drive.  I noticed that some DVD play when others do not.  Is there a way to solve this problem online?

    Hello

Sounds like the DVD, the player, or both have a problem.

With the help of HP, their books online, check the drivers, diagnostics and ask questions in the forums on
    known issues with the drive.

    ========

You have disk problems as the CD/DVD is actually 4 discs in 1 case (CD & DVD burning and)
Playback of CD and DVD). So it is not unusual for parts from 1 or 2 to not work so that others do
    correctly.

    A CD/DVD cleaner might help.

Brand of the CD or DVD drive can also be the problem. Low quality (cheap brands) are always problematic.

CD/DVDs have a tolerance + - and your can read/write on the edge outside these discs
tolerances. They may be delivered, but it is generally more economical to replace the disk.

  • Satellite Pro A100 is not recognized any amount of RAM

    Hello

I have a Satellite Pro A100 and I just bought 1 GB of additional memory. There are two locations, each with a capacity of 1 GB.
When I put the new memory into the slot and the old 512 MB original memory in slot B and the computer says it is 1 GB.

I have them two-way round so that the 512 MB is has the 1 GB in B. Now the computer says that there is 512 MB.
Is there anything I can do to work B slot? I have the latest version of the BIOS update.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello

    > original 512K of Ram also works in A slot, but not in the housing B.
This looks like your slot B is defective, mate :(

I think that, in this case, you can't. You can swap the card mother but that s all.

  • Tecra M5: UJ - 841 s not recognized as DVD/RW by any burning software

I've seen on other posts that it is common that the drive to be identified in Device Manager as a DVD-RAM (which is what's happening) but my DVD multi (on a Tecra M5) burner is not recognized by any DVD burning software.

Is there an update or driver that I should have?

    Thank you

    Hello

My first question: do you use the Toshiba OS since the Toshiba Recovery CD?
Have you install and use multiple applications all burning?

To my knowledge the practice he s not advised to use burning different programs together.
You must use only one. I recommend Nero. It s nice.
If the sonic is installed on the HARD drive, try to remove it and use only nero.

If the drive is not able to manage DVD media, you should check the different brands.
