Not reformatted, no installation disc used but old key.

Recently, I replaced my hard drive and had to reinstall Windows.  I pulled the old product key from the registry and used on the new facility.  I don't have the disc that came with my laptop for installation, so I took the disc I bought to my Tower and allows to install windows on my new drive and used the product key provided with the version preinstalled windows came with my laptop.  Now, I get messages saying that I have to get a 'real' windows...  The two versions of windows were family premium 64-bit.  Is this being fixed?  How can I get windows using the key, that I got with my laptop and without having to buy a whole new operating system?

Hello

When you reinstall the operating system on a new hard drive the way you do that you use the product key located on the COA sticker on the underside of the laptop.

If it is not there, look for it in the battery compartment.

This is what it looks like:

    Hello

I have a problem, and I don't know if there is a solution, but here goes.

My laptop is a HP DV6-7029WM Windows 7, 64 bit.

The hard drive was dead, and he was replaced last month.  I sent it to HP.  C is the hard drive, and was originally the recovery on D. Removable media were on E, and when I connected a USB stick or memory card reader it would on F.

When I came back, hard drive was on C as it was originally, and there was no recovery drive D. D is now my removable media drive. When I put in a USB stick or a memory card reader, which is now on the E drive.

After I bought this, I put the recovery on a USB key, but I've accidentally thrown out. (My mistake) So I ordered the installation diskettes after that I return my HP PC.  I had 2 DVD system recovery disks and an Application and a recovery DVD Drivery.

I want to reinstall Windows back to the default settings. I put disc 1 (System Recovery DVD) and close.  I reboot and it goes directly to the office. I hear the whirring disc, but nothing happens.

I go to the control panel > Recovery > advanced retrieval methods. I click on restart, and it loads files and then says DVD set, which I do. He told me that he does not recognize the installation disc.

I googled this problem and found a poster on CNET that had the same problem as I do. Also, I can't do a system restore.  My problem is the same as this poster on CNET.  I can read DVDs and CDs.  Those that work very well.

The files are on the DVD, because I see them.

I don't know what to do. Should I send my PC back? Can I do to solve this problem?

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello:

With recovery disc 1 into the DVD drive, restart the computer and at the beginning of the HP welcome screen, press the ESC key to display a menu of options.

Select the F9 boot menu option.

Select the DVD drive on the list of bootable devices, and press the Enter key.

Watch the screen for additional instructions.

I was given an HP Desktop running Windows 8. The person who gave me the computer disappeared since and it has been implemented as an administrator. I understand that I have to reinstall Windows 8 to change the admin myself, but I do not have Windows 8 discs. Help How do I create boot discs would be greatly appreciated. I also perform regular backups, but need to know how safely save all so nothing gets lost. Should I remove Windows 8 before I can reinstall it? Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

  • Difference on the installation disc and computer product key

    Hello

Why is the product key on the different installation for Windows 7 Ultimate disc from that on my computer that verifies a genuine copy was installed?  In other words, the product key on the installation disc has a combination of letters and numbers.  However, the product key on my computer that verifies that you have a genuine copy of Windows 7 Ultimate installed has only numbers.

    Thank you in advance.

The product ID is never really entered into the computer, what you have on the label is a 24-bit coded version which decodes the installation process to form the product ID.

If you have already built a system by entering the 25 character key, you will see a small break after entering the key. This is the decoding of the key system and then check the type of product with the version of the software being installed.

Also, be aware that if your system is a large manufacturer and shipped with Windows preinstalled, then the encrypted key can not match the label. If you use a utility such as magic jellybean keyfinder on a system, it can retrieve this key encrypted in the registry. This key is different from the label, because all systems supplied by the manufacturer with a particular version of Windows will have the same key. This avoids having them to enter a key on all of the PCs they do individually and do not have to be authenticated on the line.

No, you cannot, if you want Windows 7 on a new drive with your programs and settings, then it is better you create a system image and restore it on the new drive. See the following for instructions:

XP Home edition has been loaded on my computer at Circuit City, when it was purchased. I have a disc did not have and am now need to reinstall problems d/t computer.  How I do that? I have the product key sticker... thks!

Chances are very good that if you borrow a disc from someone, it will be an OEM disc, which means that it will contain the pilots incorrect and all the garbage that comes pre-installed on this brand of computer.

Do yourself a favor and save the headaches. Add the max RAM to your device and install Windows 7 Pro.

Finally, he gave me a blue screen and when I tried to restart, it tells me that 'system32\DRIVERS\pci.sys was damaged.  He recommended repairing reinstalling Windows XP with the installation CD.  However, no disk was provided with my purchase.  The software was already installed in the computer.  I have a certificate of authenticity, but not the disk to reinstall.  Without this disk, what can I do to fix this?  Or is it possible to get a disc from Microsoft or a source since I have the certificate of authenticity.

  • Restore Vista after reformatting (without installation disc)

I think I read every post on this subject and none seem to solve my problem.  I bought a PC with Vista 64 bit Ultimate and Enterprise Office 2007 eBay.  The two are allowed and I product identification number and keys for both.  NOR is come with the original software disks, but are a valid copy and I can update online.  The PC is not a "manufacturer" brand, but rather a white box PC.

BUT... the Vista is an OEM version and I have no idea who apply for re - install the software, since there is no disc.  There is also no tag or sticker on your box with any OEM identification.

AND... As I have not either the original disks of Office 2007, I don't know how to reinstall the SAME IF I can find a way to re - install the Vista.  I tried to order a copy of Microsoft's online backup and the process does not recognize my product key.   But the version IS known for the automatic software updates from Microsoft.

I need to reformat my drive, re - install Vista Ultimate and (Let's hope) keep or re-install Office 2007.   I have a Vista Home Premium 64-bit disk I bought directly from Microsoft that I use from another PC I have.

  • My computer won't let me not reinstall windows because he thinks that it is 32-bit and does not recognize the installation discs. Help please?

My computer has not worked since I stopped him during an automatic update. Which I have been kicking myself since then, but the last time that he updated, he beat the computer and I panicked.

Anyway, it won't run certain programs, including iTunes and a large part of MS Office, and no matter how many times I try to reinstall, they still do not work, saying: "side by side configuration is incorrect."

What I want is to restore it to factory settings - all my data is secured and sustained upward. But when I put in my recovery disks (and they are the highest boot priority in the BIOS) the system takes care of the hard drive as usual. When I remove the ability to boot from the hard drive, my system no reserves at all, telling me to restart or insert a suitable disc. And when I boot from the disk and try to run it manually, by clicking ETFSBOOT, it tells me that "the version of this file is not this version of the file is not compatible with the version of Windows you are using. Check your computer's system information to see whether you need a x 86 (32 bit) or an x 64 (64-bit) version of the program. »

I have double and triple checked this - my system is 64-bit. My records are 64-bit. As far as I know, the computer got garbled during the automatic update and now part of it think it's 32-bit (some programs are divided into sections 32-bit and 64-bit). All I want to do is to reinstall windows, but I don't know what to do because it does not recognize my discs! Any suggestions, internet?

    Thank you very much.

In addition, if it is relevant, I'm Windows Vista on an ASUS K50IJ laptop. I do not have the windows install disc because the computer was shipped with windows installed, but I have the recovery disc ASUS (which have been used to restore my computer in the past).

    Hello

Since you are unable to open programs like iTunes or Office, you can try to perform the system restore and check if it helps.

Note: When you perform the system restore to restore the computer to a previous state, programs and updates that you have installed are removed.

To run the system restore, you can consult the following link:

    System restore

About the factory restore the question, you need to contact ASUS support for additional help on ASUS recovery disks.

Is it possible to change the Apple ID user name on iMessage for the iMessage account?

    Hello

    Use the logout button.

This will still show the old Apple ID, but can be "crushed" and has added a new.

You can go a step further by going to ~/Library/Preferences and delete the com.apple.ids.service.com.apple.madrid.plist file.

This will remove the Apple ID used in iMessages and all related issues iPhone and other emails added to the whole upward.
