Not so private private window

If I leave my current session open, then connect to gmail in a private window and then close this window private the previous open window that was not previously logged in gmail is now recorded. Therefore, the privacy of the new private window is not so private.

Your private windows display an icon "mask"? I put an arrow pointing to it in the second image. If this isn't the case, you can have the automatic value of Firefox's private browsing. In this mode, all windows are private and so all windows to share a unique cookie jar. You can check on the page of Options here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > privacy

If the selector is set on "conservation rules: don't remember history ' change temporarily to ' Firefox will be: use the custom settings for history".

What is the box ticked "always use the private browsing mode"?

  • Option private window is no longer works

Until this week, I've always been able to access 'New private window' menu option. For some reason, I can no longer do.

    Your help would be appreciated.

Is the problem that the button is missing, it does nothing, or that a window is "ordinary"?

Also, you should find it in two menus:

    • button menu '3-bar' (menu of the Application)
    • classic file menu (you can press the Alt key to display the menu bar if you don't usually show)

Note that private windows are not distinctly marked if you set Firefox to automatically start in private mode. You can check this setting here:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > privacy

If the dialog box indicates "conservation rules: don't remember history" then Firefox will start automatically in private mode: all windows are private. To activate that power off, change the selection to "conservation rules: use the custom settings for history" and uncheck "always use the private browsing mode. Firefox has to restart after you do it, so if you're in the middle of all the work, fill your work first.

  • I want the cursor to be in the address bar when you create a new window; It works for new tabs and a new private window, but not in safe mode.

I tried following the advice offered in the different threads bit I found on this but nothing works out. I want the cursor to be in the address bar when I open a new window or when firefox opens without restoring a previous session. I solved the problem for new tabs via subject: config, but it does not work for the new windows. I tried safe mode and the problem persists. In a new private window, the cursor is in the address bar.

A new window opens the homepage (default: subject: House) and not the new tab page (default: subject: newtab).

Some of the built-in pages set the focus to the search bar on the web page, just like the Google site only.

You can use a bookmark in the bookmarks toolbar that opens the subject: blank page.
If you hold down the SHIFT key when you click this bookmark, then you open a new widow with this page.
Otherwise, you need to set the home page to about: blank or on the point: about to have easy access to all the pages.

  • Why can I do not see a particular cottage on HomeAway in normal mode but I can from a private window?

I found a cottage on HomeAway last year and stayed there. Then suddenly I could no longer find my computer, it was as if she did not exist on the site. But others may see their computers, and I can see it if I opened a private window. I have no problem looking for other properties. I was wondering if I had blocked inadvertently as an individual but could not find anything. I was wondering if the owner had blocked inadvertently me but she did not know how to check.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you.

You can try the following steps in case of problems with web pages:

You can reload webpages and ignore the cache to refresh potentially stale or corrupt.

    • Hold down the SHIFT key and click the Reload button
    • Press 'Ctrl + F5' or 'Ctrl + Shift + R' (Windows, Linux)
    • Press 'Command + shift + R' (Mac)

Clear the cache and delete cookies only from Web sites that cause problems.

    "Clear the Cache":

    • Firefox/tools > Options > advanced > network > content caching Web: 'clear now '.

    'Delete Cookies' sites causing problems:

    • Firefox/tools > Options > privacy > "Use the custom settings for history" > Cookies: "show the Cookies".

Start Firefox in Safe Mode to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/tools > Modules > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is the cause of the problem.

    • Put yourself in the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/tools > Modules > appearance
    • Do NOT click on the reset button on the startup window Mode safe
  • Open a window of normal (non-private) and the journal in a site. Open a private window and go to the site and it shows that you are connected. 11 IE does not work. Why FF?

Have you changed your configuration before you post? Your "more details of the system" seems to show that you have configured to automatically start in private browsing mode, you can select in the Firefox Options:

"3-bar" menu button (or tools) > Options > privacy

If the value is "Firefox will: don't remember history ' change the dropdown to" Firefox will be: use the custom settings for history "to reveal the current configuration.

What is the box ticked for "always use the private browsing mode"?

If Yes, then what you have found is logical: private windows share a pool of "session only" cookies separate Windows non-private, and you have all the non-private with automatic private browsing windows.

  • Pop - up window asking if I want to known password don't pop up why I'm not in private browsing, and the site is not on the list of exceptions please help

I can not the firefox window to ask me if I want to remember my password. I'm not in private browsing. The site is not on the list of exceptions in the security zone where all other sites of passwords are stored.

Hello, Web sites can specify whether browsers should be able to save the name of user and password (through the AutoComplete = "off" attribute in the login form in the html source code)-it is often the case when a high level of security is probably held by these sites.

You can either install an addon or use a bookmarklet to work around this restriction.

Usernames and passwords are not saved

I use Linux on my Acer laptop. I want to use Mozilla Firefox version 42.0 or more recent in the 'new private window Mode"always. When I click on the Firefox icon on my desktop or the taskbar, I want Firefox to open in 'New private window' always; no exception. When I click on the tab button or a link, all new pages should always open 'Private window' mode. In addition, I want to know that I am in a private window with privacy mask showing. Your help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you, Amos.

Hi Amos, assuming you want to get more protection, monitoring, there are a few options:

    • You can customize your firefox shortcut on the desktop or the taskbar to open firefox directly in private browsing mode: right-click the shortcut "mozilla firefox", go to properties, and at the end of the target line that should hold them the way to the firefox program folder add " -private"
    • You can enable protection followed not only during private browsing, but in normal windows as hollow a 'hidden' preference: enter on: config in the address bar of firefox (confirmed the message information where it appears) and search for the preference named privacy.trackingprotection.enabled. Double-click it and change its value to true.
    • You can set firefox don't remember history in the menu > options > sign confidentiality in order to always run in private browsing mode. However you will not be able to open all normal windows or record the history and passwords if you have defined this mode: confidentiality, and-not-track browsing history settings
  • How can I get my chosen homepage in a private window?

I have no problem to select a home page of my choice, but it doesn't seem to be an option to start it in a private window. This can be done?

As far as I know, there is no way to force Firefox to always start in private browsing mode. And in addition, your home page will not be loaded in navigation mode private because the default about:privatebrowsing page.

If you want to start Firefox in private mode, you can simply right-click on the taskbar Windows 10, Firefox icon and select this option to open a new window in incognito.

You can also add -private to the end of firefox.exe in the target for your shortcut to Firefox. This can be found in the properties of the shortcut, if you right click and select Properties.

I have no problem dragging the standard window of Firefox, but I can't drag private Windows. Title bar is there, so is not the issue. It started with the latest version (35.0).

There were some comments to the previous launch, which also referred to this issue. But today they was a version of update 35.0.1 who may have sent it. Please upgrade to the latest version and post if this still happens.

If not, try a new profile to verify that it doesn't have to do with an extension or a new preference: use the Profile Manager to create and delete profiles Firefox
