Notification of comments network Disclaimer

Is there a third-party App I can use to present a warning to my guests with my network of comments? Some cafes offering free WiFi ask the customer please use the service responsibly and do not download anything that is illegal, and there is sometimes a "tick Box" customer must choose to prove that they have read and agree to the statement. Thanks, Jim

As I mentioned, none of the Netgear routers support a captive portal. I see that the management of enterprise-class wireless controllers support it.

Try these steps and check if that helps:

** Turn it back on. Sometimes a reboot will solve this problem.* *.

    1. close all programs and stop the laptop.

    2. remove all power supplies (battery and power cord)

    3. empty the remaining power by pressing the power on button for 30 seconds (even if you have no power).

    4. put the battery back and start the computer

    5. once fully loaded, right-click on the system tray and select Properties.

    6. This will bring to the top of the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties" dialog box. The "Notification area" tab.

    7. at the bottom of the tab, is the area 'icons systems. " There is a checkbox for "Power". "check" the box and click on apply or OK.

Also update your graphics card drivers.

It works! Tanks a lot Johnny D.81!

  • E4200 comments network does not

I can't get the network feature to work.

Even if the SSID is activated, it does not appear on all devices trying to connect. The connection manually entering the SSID comments fails (not recognized). On devices with the primary 5 and 2.4 GHz configured, they see the third network but without SSID (unknown) and also can connect manually using SSID.

    Here are my settings:

    Firmware: 1.0.02

E4200 is configured in bridge (WAP) mode.

    5 GHz network

    Mixed mode

    SSID Astro2-year

    Automatic width

    Channel Auto (DFS)

    Disabled SSID broadcast

    2.4 GHz network

    Mixed mode

    SSID Astro2-bgn

    Automatic width

    Auto channel

    Disabled SSID broadcast

    Guest access

    Enable Yes

    Name Astro2-bgn-comments (not editable)

    Password Guest testpassword

    Total authorized clients 5

    Enabled SSID broadcast

I was not looking for it before 1.0.02. Have restarted the modem and checked all the configs (several times). The network is online in an office and can not keep screwing with it or change its settings.

This particular E4200 was bought with firmware 1.0.0 and then upgraded to 1.0.01 and finally updated to 1.0.02. I did not hard reset after the upgrade, just let yourself drift on the configs by firmware. See other problems in the forum resolved after upgrade by resetting hard, I gave a try. I printed all the pages of configuration and State, did a hard reset and then entered manually all configs exactly as they were. But now the network comments works and all is well. For those interested, the comments system is placed on a completely different subnet (19.168.33.0/24 compared to my normal LAN on 192.168.0.0/24). In addition, the E4200 is all private IP addresses routable while on the network of comments. This means that you can use the E4200 as a WAP mode bridge anywhere on your private subnet and guest users can only access the Internet routable. Very well! And to close the other question raise in this thread, you can leave the SSID disabled on the main networks 5 and 2.4 GHz and separately enable or disable comments network.

I suggest always to do a hard reset after firmware upgrade even if your settings seem to have postponed...

  • Primary WRT1900AC & comments networks on the same Radio channel

    Hi - Newbie here.

The main network and the network of comments on my WRT1900AC occupy the same 2.4 GHz radio channel, regardless of the selection of a channel or using AUTOMATIC channel selection.  I want to change this scenario so that the primary network would occupy a channel (say, Ch. 11) and the guest network would occupy a different channel (say, Ch. 1).  I fell in my attempts.

Change channel from the main network (for example, Ch. 11-Chapter 6) goes well, as checked the WiFi Analyzer application on a separate shelf.  For each network channels remain separated (Pri @ Ch. 6 & Guest @ Ch. 11) for about 2 seconds, then the guest network dutifully follows the Canal of the primary school where the two, then, reside (Pri & comments @ Ch. 6).  This second 2 delay leads me to believe that the two networks can be separated with success and coexist on two different channels, but only if the adjustment is made.

I use the latest update of Firmware (Version 1.1.8.161917), and almost everything works perfectly.  I haven't checked for a situation similar to the 5 GHz band, but imagine that a cure for 2.4 GHz could be translated to a 5 GHz problem if it exists.

Please do not hesitate to me flood with your knowledge.  Thanks in advance.

Did a live chat with an environment of "agent" tonight, and, after some initial stumbles and a bit of the discussion on the issue, the agent said that "it's like that" and that the user doesn't have the ability to change the channel for feedback network.  Only I could answer that, unfortunately, Yes, the user makes, but in order to change the channel of Guest network, you had to change the channel of primary network.

    So, for now, 'that's it!

Guess I'll have to wait for firmware open stable source to be released so that I can flash and dig a little deeper into the router.  Until then, I'll just scratching my head about the counterintuitive to have practice two networks on a radio band occupy the same channel, possibly generating interference of the internetwork.

Thanks FurryNutz for your patience and your help.

  • E4200 comments network advanced settings?

    Hey guys.

I would like to know if there is anywhere (even in the code) where I can play with the settings of network of comments?

    I really miss things:

*. possibility to change the default webpage for the guest network connection

*. Possibility to set a term of lease for guest network

*. Possibility to use special characters in the password (@! $%)

is it still possible or a firmware open source is the way forward?

    Thank you.

*. possibility to change the default webpage for the guest network connection

    -not possible

*. Possibility to set a term of lease for guest network

    -not possible

*. Possibility to use special characters in the password (@! $%)

-Unfortunately, it is only alphanumeric, but hey, it's case-sensitive.

is it still possible or a firmware open source is the way forward?

-As far as I know, no 3rd party firmware has managed to allow the guest network.

  • Comments network connects to the host

I try to install a Windows Server 2003, standard edition as a guest on Windows XP 64-bit. I'm trying to install a bridged network. The device driver for the NETWORK card in the guest system signals that it does not work because of the inability to connect to a resource. There are no events in the log of the host or guest system events.

While I don't have a single NETWORK card on the host, I tried the often suggested work around affecting the network bridge device to a specific NETWORK card on the host, that I want it to connect. This had no effect.

I tried to change the network to a NAT device ' ed and had the same problem - the unit on the guest doesn't seem to be able to connect to the host device. I also tried a single LAN and had the same problem.

    Little help?

    Hello

What Hat I did wrong?  I have a spare homehub5 BT - can I use it as a spare router in the House to boost signal more?

    any help much appreciated!

Basically, the 'Comments Networking' function only works with Apple mobile networks. You cannot extend this network with a non-Apple as your TPLink device.

In your case, you would need another time Capsule or AirPort Extreme to extend the network of comments.

  • Network icon is missing from the notification area after the window updated

I have some problems about the notification for the network and the volume icon!
They are missing after the window updates!
I tried to check the "Taskbar and Start Menu Properties' > 'Notification area', Volume and network are grey which I cannot check these boxes. Grateful if you could help me solve this problem!

    Hi VisBo,

Welcome to the windows vista forums.

Please follow the steps below to resolve this issue:

    1. right click on the taskbar and click Properties.

2 tab Area of Notification .

3 check (on) or disable (off) the options you want or do not want to display on the Taskbar Notification area.

For the network icon, you can also do with the registry.

    NOTE:

Please be careful while making changes to the registry, any undesirable changes can affect your operating system.

    1. click on start.

    2. in the start menu search bar type regedit, and then on enter.

3 Please go to this location in the registry by expanding each location by clicking on the brand more on the left side.

  • Network WRT1900AC comments is seen, connectable, but no password invite or internet access

I have WRT1900AC firmware version 1.1.8.164461. The wireless channel interference is not a problem.

Under access as a guest, I can see allow guest access turned on, I have a SSID of 2.4 Ghz and a password for the guest network. Using my 2.4 Ghz devices, I can see the SSID I just referred to. My devices can connect to it.

But, once connected, I never receive a prompt for the password and I have no internet access. The screen Smart Wi - Fi are always "0 clients" are currently connected, regardless of the number of devices made the level of SSID link.

I installed the router months ago, but did not know that access as a guest did not work because it always seemed well on the router and I didn't have a camera to test with. But I just discovered that many guests were upset that they can't connect with the password that I gave them. I am very disappointed by the Linksys support answer to my question.

For now, I am getting the correct behavior after a reset of the WRT1900AC plant. The guest network is now a password in a browser for the two test devices. My comments network IP addresses have the prefix 192.168.3.x and I can't find an address 192.168.2.x on my network.

  • ISE comments print Notification Portal

    Hello

with the old comments of NAC server, I was able to 'draw' the impression of notification of comments with HTML elements. With ISE I can only write plain text. Does anyone know how to change things like the size of the font for printed documents?

    Kind regards

    Andreas

Unfortunately, it is not natively supported with ISE 1.2.  However, the notification of comments will be customizable using HTML in point 1.3 of the ISE.  This version will be released if all goes well during the last week of November.

  • Question of RV220W VLAN / routing (setting up network comments)

I added two wireless networks in my RV220W. One is intended for customers and must not allow them to go outside on the WAN. But I'm wrong how to set up.

I created a second LAN VIRTUAL (192.168.3.xxx) and awarded "comments network." But how do I set up my RV220W such that these guests can go to the WAN? And how to mix it with the fact that NAT between the external WAN and the internal network is in the 192.168.2.xxx range? Can I do anything?

Please try disabling routing inter - VLAN of the guest VLAN.

The two VLAN will share the same WAN connection for internet access, i.e. two subnets are translated.

  • Network Notification area icon has changed: how to change it back?

Just got a new laptop with Win7 professional about two weeks ago.

All of a sudden, this morning, the notification icon of network for the switched network to the wireless icon - five bars icon wired with a big X red through it (because I am not connected via wired).  When I mouse over the icon it still shows my wireless network name and I have access to the Internet.
I don't know how or why the icon has changed, but I would like to go back to one showing bars wireless.  I searched around and can't find anything on how to do it.
    Help, please?  Thank you!

Thanks for this location.  I don't know if that would fix it, by applying someone suggested another fix before having seen this, it screwed to the top of my notifications area if wrong I just did a system restore and that did the trick.  So, I'll keep my eye on it.

  • Airport network guess without the access control list.

In fact, on the page AirPort base stations: on the guest network feature, Apple write this:

"If enabled, access control lists will be applied to both the main Wi - Fi network and the network of comments. If you use Access Control Lists, you will need to add your comments network clients to the list so that they can join. »

I think that on previous versions of the airport, it was possible to use the network to guess without the access control list.

The idea is that only the (primary) private network should use this access control list.

The network presupposes that is give for direct and temporary access (not necessary to access Airport utility, ask your friend and note its Mac address, restart the resort from the airport... for every friend who invited you to home)!

    Is there a workaround resolution?

Unless you have set up a default rule 'No access' in the timed access settings, then it is not necessary to set up a rule for each "guest." Just give them the password for the network of comments and they will be able to access the network.

IF... you have set a default rule 'No access' in the timed access settings, then you must also configure a rule for each device that you want to allow to connect with the settings for the time that the device is allowed to access the network.
