NTLDR missing on a drive, I don't want to not start
Hi all
Not an answer to your Q readers but usb was never designed to be connected on startup, or a stop, for various reasons, mainly the risk of alteration of the disc, but I digress;
Open a command prompt and type DISKPART.
Type LIST DISK
Type SELECT DISK n (where n is the number of the USB)
The LIST PARTITION type
Type SELECT PARTITION n (where n is the number of the active partition that you want to be inactive)
IDLE type
Type EXIT to exit DISKPART
Type EXIT to quit the command prompt
Reset

Missing or corrupt hal.dll file. Computer will not start in XP
All of a sudden my computer does not open in XP. Says it has a corrupt or missing hal.dll file I don't ' have a Windows XP CD. What I can to correct without losing what is on the computer? Must have been an update last night, because it was working fine before.
The usual problem with this message is not the hal.dll file is missing or corrupted - it usually just means that XP cannot find it to be abandoned because the file system has somehow got corrupted something like a power interruption, restart or abnormal termination... or your c:\boot.ini file is somehow corrupted (or both!).
You will have to start on something to fix.
Since the Microsoft Answers forum does not have any kind of information system request when a new question is asked, we know absolutely nothing about your system. Not knowing the basic information a problem prolongs the frustration and the agony of these issues.
Thank you MS Answers, allowing the resolution of simple problems as frustrating and a lot of time as possible.
Provide information on your system, the better you can:
What is your system brand and model?
What is your Version of XP and the Service Pack?
Your system have IDE or SATA disks?
Describe your current antivirus and software anti malware situation: McAfee, Symantec, Norton, Spybot, AVG, Avira!, MSE, Panda, Trend Micro, CA, Defender, ZoneAlarm, PC Tools, Comodo, etc..
The question was preceded by a loss of power, aborted reboot or abnormal termination? (This includes the plug pulling, power buttons, remove the battery, etc.).
The afflicted system has a working CD/DVD (internal or external) drive?
If the system works, what do you think might have changed since the last time it did not work properly?
Then, you perform a chkdsk/r from the XP Recovery first Console and report back how it works (which may be all you need to do):
Here's how:
If you have no XP bootable media (or aren't sure you have) create a bootable XP Recovery CD of Console and do not forget.
This is not the same as recovery disks that might have come with the acquisition of the system store.
You can make a bootable Recovery Console CD by downloading an ISO file and burn it to a CD.
The ISO bootable image file you need to download is called:
xp_rec_con. ISO
Download the ISO from here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?ueyyzfymmig
Use a new CD and this simple and free program to burn your ISO file and create your bootable CD:
When you install ImgBurn, DO NOT install the Ask toolbar.
Here are some instructions for ImgBurn:
http://Forum.ImgBurn.com/index.php?showtopic=61
It would be a good idea to test your bootable CD on a computer running.
You may need to adjust the computer BIOS settings to use the CD-ROM drive as the first device to boot instead of the hard drive. These adjustments are made before Windows tries to load. If you miss it, you will need to restart the system again.
When you start on the CD, follow the instructions:
Press any key to boot from CD...
Installing Windows... going to pronounce.
Press 'R' to enter the Recovery Console.
Select the installation that you want to access (usually 1: C:\WINDOWS)
You may be asked to enter the password (usually empty).
You should be in the folder C:\WINDOWS. It's the same as the
C:\Windows folder that you see in Solution Explorer.
The Recovery Console allows base as file commands: copy, rename, replace, delete, chkdsk, fixboot, fixmbr, cd, etc.
For a list of the commands in the Recovery Console, type help at the prompt of commands or read on here XP Recovery Console:
A good idea before you start things must first verify the integrity of your file system by using the chkdsk command.
In the command prompt window, run the chkdsk command on the drive where Windows is installed to try to fix any problems on the afflicted player.
Running chkdsk is fine, even if he finds no problem. It won't hurt anything to run it.
Assuming your boot drive is C, run the following command:
CHKDSK C: /r
Let chkdsk finish to correct the problems, he could find.
It may take a long time for chkdsk complete or they seem to be "stuck". Be patient. If the HARD drive led blinks always, chkdsk is something. Keep an eye on the amount of the percentage to be sure that it is still making progress. It may even seem to go back sometime.
You must run chkdsk/r again until it finds no error to correct.
Remove the CD, and then type "exit" to exit the RC and restart the computer.
You have not to set the BIOS to boot the disk HARD since the CD won't be.

Don't want Phoenix I7: Start 10 menu appears not
I recently tried to install Corel X 3 using XP compatibility mode, but it did not work and damaged my menu of the Start button. Everything seems to be OK, but clicking on the Windows icon results in a brief "Hourglass" and no activity. I tried a system restore, but it tells me it couldn't find a file (AV was off), so I can only assume that X 3 deleted something. I tried some of the suggestions catering menu to start with powershell etc but none have brought.
I don't want to re - load Windows, if I can avoid it, but it seems to be running out of options. Any suggestions please?
Thank you!
Hello;
Let me welcome you on the HP forums!
I read your post on your Win10 Start Menu problem and wanted to help. What COULD something work is known as a repair installation. It is less destructive of all functions of Windows recovery and rewrites the files from Windows system, including drivers, leaving your apps, settings and data intact.
To do this, you will need to use the link to the installation media to download Win10 and burn a DVD or create a USB key: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-10/media-creation-tool-install?ocid=ms_wol_win10
Once you have, follow the instructions in the link: http://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/16397-repair-install-windows-10-place-upgrade.htmlGood luck

I don't want to not auto renew in a year.
I just unknowingly has my package from cc adobe renewed for another year. Only, I discovered that it happened when I got the bank statement with the payment on. And as I got the discount for students that only lasts a year, you can imagine the jump in price as well. As I initially bought the package a year ago, I didn't even know who would be automatically renewed in particular without some kind of warning or way to stop what is happening. I want to know if there is a way to stop the automatic renewal, I'm sure I can forget again as soon as next year. I don't want to cancel my one stop account auto renewal.
Automatic renewal is discussed with the rest of the information that you agreed to when you took the license - one of the problems for consumers with long/wordy agreements. You should be able to get the discount student as long as you stay student and reapply this status. As much as to thwart the automatic renewal, I think that you have no choice but to be on your guard and to renounce this project in time like everyone else - it's unfortunate, but that's how Adobe chooses to do business.

DVD RW drive (e :)) don't read do not all disks)
I have a Dell Studio Windows Vista. The DVD RW drive (e :)) does not.) Regardless of the type of disc that I put in, my DVD player does not recognize. When I go to 'My Computer' to open the disc manually, a message appears telling me to insert a disc, even if it is already inside. In addition, when this message appears, it ejects the disc I have here. I did everything. My computer is up to date. I went to the only Device Manager update my CD/DVD drive and it is already up to date. I don't know what to do from here.

Drive HARD recovery failed, Qosimo does not start with BOOTMGR is missing
Hi all
I recently used the Toshiba HDD Recovery thing to restore my laptop to factory settings, while he was doing this he popped by saying: she didn't, I rebooted and boots up logo Toshiba then comes to a screen with just BOOTMGR lack ctrl alt delete to restart. Anyone know how I can fix this problem so it does not once more?
Laptop is Toshiba Qosimo X 500-149
Thank you
HarryHello Harry
HARD drive recovery image is screwed up and you will not be able to start over. Only way to install the Toshiba recovery image is to use the recovery DVDs. You have created a following Toshiba Recovery reminder?
Here is the original post of callback:
+ Important INFORMATION +.
+ Your system is equipped with a hard drive recovery system. If you need repair your computer in the restaurant to original factory State, you can do so directly from the hard disk (press F8 when you start your computer, choose "Repair your computer" and follow the instructions in the menu) or create a media drive bootable recovery to that end. +.
+ * Toshiba recommends you create recovery disk medium using the "Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator' to ensure that you are able to restore your computer to the original, factory-installed state even if your computer is seriously damaged.* +.

Hello
I have a problem with Captivate 6 installation on Windows Server 2008 R2. I have 2 different scenarios where I tested it, but the result is the same.
1. I used AMEE (Application Manager Enterprise 3.1) to create the installation of the deployment via SCCM 2012 Package.
Note that the current package works fine on Windows 7 (x 86 and x 64), but not on 2008 R2 error after I tried to launch the Captivate.exe application.
The error indicates that there is a missing file: libwinpthread - 1.dll and if I copy and made a recording of the present. DLL file then he sends another error saying: on-demand failed to start correctly (0xc000007b) so he won't ever let me launch the application.
2 now, if I install the package directly from the Original sources (CD) without creating any package AMEE after completing the installation, I have always the same error about the missing DLL file.
Is there a fix or workaround to install 6 Captivate on Win2008 R2?
Thanks in advance and greetings.
This seems to be a generic question unrelated to Captivate. Here is a site that lists the possible causes.
How to fix Libwinpthread - 1.dll is missing / not found error
