Number of spaces and Unity (Windows XP SP3)

I'm running Windows XP SP3 in unity mode and have spaces enabled on my mac. I'm unable to move windows applications between different spaces on the mac. Is there something that I need to configure to allow windows applications to move between different areas or it's just a bug?

Normally, I do not use the unit, however I just tested Windows Mobile application windows between spaces and I was not able drag-and - drop between normal Mac desktop, however, I was able to drag-and - drop Windows application windows between spaces, use F8 or tile of Dock spaces.  So I'd say it's a bug in VMware Fusion.

I suspect it is because I am currently running Windows XP SP2; I'm not allowed to update because I have not yet updated.

You can download the stand-alone package for Windows XP SP3 from the following page on the Microsoft Download Center. Although this page shows that the installation package is intended for it professionals and developers, you can download and then install this package.

Important These service packs apply only to 32-bit versions of Windows XP.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP2. My internet security program is Norton Antivirus online, provided by my ISP, Qwest... [1] your solutions solved my problems!

[2] but, I still wonder if it is advisable to remove the update section of the section add/remove from the Control Panel, already installed updates if updates do not apply to the version and service pack of windows I use!

[3].. .when I was running Norton security, I kept getting messages from the use of the high memory for many programs I was running. So I guess what I'm asking is, how can I safely free up memory on my drive if I am at or near the limit of memory?

A1. Excellent! And kind of you, too much work.

A2. Well, this would be a "double edge" => If you uninstall an older update (in order to "save space") and then find that you need to uninstall a more recent update that replaced (replaced) the former for a reason, you wouldn't be able to do.

That being said, see this discussion archived in another forum (where I also "hanging out") for a few suggestions related to dispose of "unnecessary updates...

A3. Let me ask you this: are seeing you this "high memory use" alerts now?

Speaking of which, you reinstall Norton Internet Security Online of Qwest or have you installed Microsoft Security Essentials to step #6 of my previous answer?

Remember that the available memory is not necessarily related to the amount of available disk space. If you want to read / learn more, see the section of the optimization of your computer here: http://aumha.org/win5/articles.htm

Very generally speaking, running Disk Cleanup every moment & should be all you need to do (especially if you no longer have an installed Norton application). Refer to the section of the free disk space up to here: http://www.microsoft.com/atwork/maintenance/speed.aspx

  • WinSxS swallow all my server storage space and fill C:Drives causing unstable Windows

Hey there, I got a small cut of data center where we have virtualized 10.  Which most is Server 2008 standard with 4 x x64Bit version.

I thought about creating a 75GB C partition would be more than enough space.  After about 9 months of use of torque with a 64 bit OS and Exchange 2010, I was up to 5 GB space on my C drive.  Fortunately, I had a load of spare to park my Exchange .edb files to remedy the problem of the lack of storage SAN.

What MS is going to deal with this problem.  I'm lucky, I can just use extra storage space and make a difference.  What of those who pay for hosted solutions / storage.  This eventually cost them much more they may have planned to even if they copy actually that much data on the server.

Surely MS will come out as its eems to be a cleaning tool or a patch to stop this issue more and more out of control.  Nobody seems to have a decent solution for this.  Woe to anyone brave enough to just go and delete files to free up space.

Any ideas or advice greatly appreciated.

Looking forward to hear from you.

    Glyn.

  • Windows XP SP3 will not install and repeatedly keep trying with Windows Update

I've had two months of problems with Windows 7 and had to build a Windows XP machine. I installed Windows XP Pro SP2 on the clean machine and tried to install SP3 I had downloaded and put it on a CD. Installation backed up the existing files and install the new files. The installer said he was changing the registry. After that the installer said that there was an error, a file is not found. Then uninstalled and restored the old files. Keeps Windows Update downloaded a stream of updates (as you would expect with a clean install), but at the end of installation of the batch that is being updated is in SP3 update running. Whenever the SP3 update is executed, it gets to the same point, fails because it cannot find a file and UN-installs itself again. The indices of anyone? It's a real Microsoft Windows XP Pro out of the box, not an OEM.

    Hi guenoun,.

The message I received installation of SP3 was "System cannot find the file requested" with no error code. As I was installing a SP3 at the start of a CDROM created from the uploaded image of CDROM I thought it was unlikely that the CDROM was corrupt or missing files. So, I went in Mode safe mode and use the account administrator. SP3 installed then OK (it took more time than installing Windows XP). I then checked the updates, and although Windows Update has been updated about 10 new updates flooded down. So problem solved. It must have been one of these security issues where be a user with administrative privalges was not enough.

    Kind regards
    Tony

  • KB2286198 arouses computers to run slowly. Windows XP SP3 and Windows 7 64-bit.

After installing Windows Update KB2286198 on my Windows XP SP3 computer, the computer crashes frequently when loading items upward, suchs as pages on IE8 or send or receive emails in Outlook. Computer performance is degraded to the point that it's almost unusable at times. One of my users just improved CAD system 64-bit of Windows 7 today and is having the exact same issues. We run CA anti-virus. Most of the questions I've seen posted include antivirus NOD, not the certification authority. Everyone sees these questions? Someone has an idea how solve it?

The \windows\installer folder takes a lot of space and I want to move it to another drive if possible. Ashwin

No, I don't think. Just about anything in the Windows directory cannot be moved. You will need to find another way to clear disk space. Try to compress your drive hard (if you don't know how, ask).

    Hello

In addition to the advice given by Jose Antonio Ponton Posada CEO, you can also have a look at the response of Shenan Stanley on 20 October 2012 in this thread.

As Tommy mentioned, you can download and it save on the same computer. You can also download the Service Pack on a different computer and transfer to install it on the requested computer.

  • Computer sees no floppy and CD Rom/DVD player after change of motherboard of PC w / Windows XP SP3

After changing the motherboard on my PC, a Dell Optiplex gx270s Windows XP SP3, the computer (which also works fine) does not see the CD/DVD or floppy drives CD, DVD or floppy is inserted. (He sees not thumb drives). When I look under the hardware in the system, the floppy drive and the Cd-Rom are marked as +. All appropriate updates had been installed. These discs worked fine before the motherboard was changed. (It was done because the capacitors were bulging.)

What could be the problem and how to fix it?

Please explain simply, that I'm not a computer expert.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi 4Sunnydays,

Welcome to the Microsoft community. According to the description of the problem, CD/DVD and floppy drive is missing.
