Numlock on Latitude E5550 light

No there is no way to see visually if the number lock is enabled or disabled - even if only at the time the button is pressed?  I guess I think a utility or that outlines an indicator on the screen.

Hi Adamup

In some models of Dell, the "Quickset" Dell utility has an OSD (on screen display) for things like numlock and capslock. Here is the link to an earlier version of this util. I don't know if it will work on your machine, because it is not "officially supported" by Dell for your model. You will also need to run it in compatibility mode for Windows 7... unless you have windows 7, in which case it will install either correctly or produce a message that says he can't.

This is related to quick adjustment

All the original for your machine media lie to the support page for your model. Don't forget to select YOUR operating system to view the support driver and util.

    Hi Simone.

Try to install "Dell ControlVault Driver".
This package contains drivers for Broadcom NFP (USB\VID_0A5C & PID_5804) and Broadcom USH.

I installed on Latitude E5550 with Windows 7 Professional x 64 and works very well.

  • Latitude E5550 - BIOS update failed

I just got a Latitude 15 5000 Series (E5550) with BIOS A07 installed. Looking through the drivers and the section of the software for the device on the Dell Web page indicates that an update of the A10 BIOS was released November 30, 2015. The changelog says it solves a specific problem I encounter. However, the download and installation of the BIOS, it fails with an error indicating: "cannot update a Latitude E5550 with a BIOS for a Latitude 5550. I have re-downloaded the update several times to verify that the download is not corrupt. In addition, I contacted Dell technical support via chat and he said it was due to my OS is not supported for the Installer (Windows 10 Enterprise). Because the machine has any use, I reinstalled Windows 10 Pro (knowing it would not solve the problem) and resume the update. A failed once again with the same error.

  • Graphics problems with Latitude E550

    Hello

I have a problem with a laptop computer latitude and native resolutions.

    I currently have 2 Latitude E5550.

It has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080 (read in the bios) and the other has a native resolution of 1366 x 768.

The same drivers (Intel HD graphics 5000 I believe. Video bios 1032v17). Same bios versions. As well on Windows 7 SP1 64 bit.

My first idea as to why this is because I changed the hard drive in the laptop 2 (1366 x 768 a). It was a drive of 500 GB hard disc, but I replaced with an SSD and installed windows 7 cost. Not sure why this would cause the resolution to be less well?

Any other information needed let me know.

    Thank you.

One was ordered with the standard display panel (1366 X 768) and the other has been ordered with an upgrade screen FHD - in other words, the material is different.  This has nothing to do with the drivers, WIndows, etc - a system simply has a screen resolution higher than the other.

  • iBook G3 running is not on but shows signs of life...

    Hello

I have experience with Mac repair, but not much with the old Mac PowerPC. I got a G3 iBook for almost nothing in a sale at auction, and when I plug it into a charger, the thin battery charges. I now loaded it so that all the lights on the battery are strong.

When I press the power button, MAJ CAPSLOCK, NumLock and the little light on the flash front for like 1/4 of a second, and then they go off. The machine does two very light clicks. The fan on the computer then starts spinning, and the hard drive (I have replaced). It stays on for a few seconds and then shuts.

On the laptop LCD screen is cracked, so I'm assuming that if she turned on, I wouldn't see much until I replaced it, but there is no edge, no second light (except as ¼) and no POST. I have to check/replace the RAM as well as several other components.

I know this laptop isn't much value, but I would like it to work. If it is the logic board, that are not too expensive either.

    It is a model A1005 of 2002. I think it is 12 ".

    Thanks for any help!

    Luke

There was a problem with the connections of a graphics chip welding in some iBook G3 computers. An iBook would then not properly the start-up procedure, and the screen remains dark (sometimes the question could be diagnosed by a change at the clamping/pressing an external area to the left of the trackpad during the boot sequence). However, it may or may not be of interest in this case (with a damaged LCD screen).

  • Computer crashes when reading custom sounds

After downloading any file using Download Manager or DownloadThemAll, Firefox will freeze my computer. The hard disk completely stops. The keyboard and mouse are unresponsive; not even the caps or NumLock can turn the lights on my keyboard.

I did a disk check and a memory test, which found no errors.

When to disable the download completed sounds for two of these addons, Firefox functions normally.
This is not only a problem of addon, however, because TBird has developed a similar problem at the same time. (See my report this error, please go here: https://getsatisfaction.com/mozilla_messaging/topics/freezes_computer_when_playing_custom_sounds )

All other sounds play very well, on YouTube and local actors.

To better solve this problem, I really need to know how Firefox (and TBird) play sounds. This problem appeared out of the blue without updates or the other program. I recently had to install java 7 64-bit, after already running only 32-bit on my 64-bit machine. I heard that this program is very buggy and could have caused serious problems. I uninstalled java and reinstalled java 6 32 bits, but that does not solve the problem. I think of a sound driver can have gone wrong, but it makes no sense that I can player other sounds seems fine, even Java take like Minecraft.

I have yet to discover another method by which I can reproduce this accident and I have tested intensively.

    Thanks for your help.

    Obsolete pluggins were:
Java - I rolled back to version 6 I thought it might be my problem.
    Adobe Reader
    QuickTime
    Google Earth
I also have the VLC Player web, which was up to date.

I recently came across a YouTube video which could cause in the same way to the crash site, so apparently, players can have the same effect.

I'll check my audio drivers as well to see if they could also be at fault.

    • couple of days later *.

After updating the drivers, the problem disappeared. We are assuming that the problem was corrupt, drivers may be caused by 64-bit java 7, but this is just speculation.

    Thank you

  • 1297cb HP P7: lack of response from the hard drive or windows 7 to my monitor help

Greetings.  I have a HP P7 1297cb, all original material except the memory and hard drive.

Original OS at home, is now Pro.
I thought that my hard drive has expired and bought a new WD 2 TB black.
And I don't have the other HDD cause I already threw out.

So, here I am.   I installed the WD Black again and nothing.  Monitor powers and that's it.
I get a hard drive light to everything first, about 5 to 10 seconds and off.  Touch HD and feels light low race.
All fans and fees lights.  Power light on.

No NumLock or number lock lights.  Œuvres and key/monitor / mouse, as I am with them now.

Shot four sticks of 2 GB memory and get the beep.  One at a time plugged in no beeps and back in.
You use a Windows 7 Pro disk rebuild for installation.  When the computer starts, I tried F10, F12 and nothing.
I even pulled the mobo battery for a few seconds.
I disconnected the power supply cord (pc) and held in the power button for about 30 seconds.
I even turned on with the installation disc in and waited (until at least 20 minutes) to see if the screen would change nothing.
I am willing to check the cpu, which remains the only thing to check, I'm guessing that about it.
I get no beep or beeps when the pc starts.

So, I guess also, that my problem was not the hard drive in the first place. ???
Thanks in advance for any help.

    Hello;

Let me welcome you on the HP forums!

I don't know what a "Windows 7 Pro Rebuild disk'- so I don't know if it's any bootable media.

Unless you changed the default device sequence in the start section of the configuration of the BIOS, it will look at the HDD FIRST and since it is empty, the PC will simply sit there - nothing to do.

So, you must get to a boot device selection screen to boot from the DVD of Win7.

The typical ways of doing are to press F9 or F12 - one of them will be implemented a unique boot device selection menu.  Then, you select the DVD drive and the PC should then restart.

It can display a line of text at the top of the screen, something like «press any key to boot from...» "If Yes, press the space bar.

If the DVD is good, the PC will then start on the initial screen for the installation of Windows.

    Good luck

    Hello

    • Remove the main battery
    • Power button press and hold 30-40 long s
    • Reinsert the battery
    • Plug the power adapter
    • Press the power button

  • BIOS update has not stopped startup Satellite P850 for Win7

Updated the BIOS on the site of Toshiba Australia yesterday which now prevented me Win 7 start.

There was no apparent problem with the update or flash. I can't be in the settings of the BIOS using F12 and the start-up operation stops at the Win logo then the screen turns white. Tried to boot from a drive under Win 7 without success. Even tried to take out the hard drive.

I suspect that Win 7 charges because I see the NumLock on the keyboard light is on but I don't see anything on the screen. Repeatedly, he performs an operation of disk check which is visible, but can't find any error. In my opinion, a problem occurred during the process of flash and I have no idea how fix it.

Any advice would be much appreciated

    Hello

To access the BIOS, you will need to press the F2 key instead of the F12 key.
In the BIOS disable secure boot option and set the startup mode MSC mode

  • When I restart and press f8 to go into safe mode, I can't scroll to the top I use the arrow keys, but she will not go up

It shows the possibility to go in safe mode, but I can not just ride to select

Try using the arrow keys on the numeric keypad (key '2' and '8'), but for those to work, your "Num Lock" must be disabled.  (Press the NumLock key, until the light Verr off Num).

If this does not work and you are able to boot into normal mode, you can configure so that it starts in safe mode using "msconfig":
    Start-> Run-> "msconfig".
    Start msconfig, click on:
Win.ini (tab)-> and then place a check mark in front of "/ SAFEBOOT"-> click on 'OK '.
    Restart your computer.
He will then start safe mode.

  • Mouse and keyboard stopped working on Windows 8

I have a laptop Sony Vaio model VGN-NS110E 2010 number middle. Since a few days ago my mother used it, and after it was closed and she turned on, the keyboard and the mouse do not work (the mouse wont even see on the desktop). (Yes, I tried to plug in an external mouse and keyboards, the computer won't even save) It seems that the keyboard does not work for a second before loading windows because I can press the NumLock key and the light comes on and goes off. But once windows starts loading, it stops working. The mouse and the keyboard also works if I get the computer start in recovery mode (the blue screen with the options to perform a system recovery, etc.). I can't the computer to boot in safe mode. And I tried to do a reset back a few days or a few weeks, and the mouse and keyboard still do not work. I'm guessing that the drivers are not loading, for some reason any. I guess the logical solution would be to do a factory reset, but my mom has all these bookmarks saved in his internet browser explorer, that she does not want desperately to lose. Anyone has any suggestions on how to fix or at least on the way to save somehow my moms stuff and if a reset?

    Hello Duane,

Thank you for the update on the issue.

If the keyboard and mouse does not work in one of the option, this means there could be a hardware problem is not getting detected so you may have to perform a refresh of your computer, but for this, there are also a working keyboard and a mouse. The best option that I can help you is to contact the manufacturer of your computer (SONY) or technicians who can check it physically and can reach to the root cause.

Keep us updated on the issue.

  • HP Pavilion tx2500 - Maj CapsLock and numlock lights blink simultaneously once

I turn on my HP Pavilion tx2500 and I hear the rotation of the fan, but nothing else happens.  Lights beside the caps lock and especially the blink of keys NumLock (a unique expandable flashing).  According to HP technical support documents that I found online, the expandable single flashing indicates a CPU problem.  My laptop is out of warranty and $400 for send it to HP to fixed it is practically the same price I paid for the laptop 2 years ago.

Flashing lights mean that the CPU is fried?  And I can do to repair the laptop?

    Thank you

    -Jeff

I think I'm looking in the same document that you have seen, I see not where it says 1 blink is for the CPU.

Just to rule out before you look at service options I reinsert the hard drive and memory and try again.

Is there still the same way then you might be looking at a repair.

If you feel upwards to try it yourself, then you will need the link for the purchase of parts

Now, I do not recommend this option, if not familiar with fixing notebooks I would recommend finding someone else to fix it or buy a new laptop.

You see a Toshiba splash screen at the beginning?
    You can access the BIOS?
