• I NEED TO KNOW WHY THE _ THERE IS NO COMPATIBILITY FOR WINDOWS XP MODE 7 HOME PREMIUM EDITION. AND WHY HAVE WE NOT "WAGES" TO ASK FUNDAMENTAL QUESTIONS AFTER THAT WE PAID HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS FOR THE SOFTWARE?

  I think that the only DEMO of Windows 7 available currently is approved specifically for the IT professionals. The demo lasts 90 days, but I "think" that Microsoft recommends that you be part of a company to participate. I don't know how they would feel if the average end user participated in the demonstration program.

  I don't 'think' the XP COMPATIBILITY MODE in Windows 7 will help you a lot. I "think" it uses Para-virtualization, which is unfortunately too slow for almost all games. I was able to run some software in a virtualized copy of Win XP, but the software was not a lot of resources like computer games is.

  I am surprised that your games break in Windows 7. I run 32 Bit Win XP Pro SP3 here at home, but I have recently built a machine Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit with 4 GB of RAM for my mother and it seems to work. My mother runs a Sims 3 and Sims 1 without problems, but Sims 2 gave here a few rendering problems that I don't think are associated with Windows 7.

  I recommend that players stick with Windows 7. Although there are other available operating systems, Windows 7 is probably the best operating system currently available to players. High compatibility and DirectX 10 + Support + 4 GB of RAM (or more) supported in Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit make Windows 7 a good set of OS. Trust the creators of the XBox of world-class, Super Sidewinder Joystick and high-speed Direct X technology.

  Probably upgrade will not make your game better, but it will give you the possibility to have a safer computer.

  There are 2 databases 'authorized and ready ':

  -a single instance of the "alfa", Oracle Enterprise Edition 10.2 database,

  -"bravo", Oracle 10.2 Enterprise Edition, Real Application Clusters database

  I have to "align" congratulations to alfa on a daily basis, so that--in case of failure of the main 'alfa' site - recovery is possible change to the site "bravo."

  You have reason, physical hosting it good thing. For the most part, you will get impact with until or unless data loss because of some problems of network (or a configuration problem)

  Logical standby is a little different from the physical standby mode

  Data features come with Enterprise Edition - perhaps for the active database "cost of the additional license.

  Some of our clients must see obiee analysis formula column. Therefore, they should go change the dashboard and change analysis. However, those users should not save the analysis, only to see the formulas of analysis column. How can I do? Can you help me please.

  Hi Dilek,

  'open' should be sufficient. "Writing" will allow to 'save', but just with 'open', they will not be able to save in the same place, so impossible to substitute your own analysis.

  They will be able to record somewhere else like 'my folder', but this will not affect your own (official) version of the analysis.

• Fundamental questions of use/installation/license of newbie

  I want to install a home network server that allows concurrent access of multiple users with office customized for each user.  I would say that the maximum user number 5.  It's just a way to get my feet wet with virtualization to see how it works and also to consolidate some network interviews home in one place.

  Of course, this being small scope, I would prefer a free option for this until I could put up a similar environment for a company.

  Questions.

  (1) is it possible free with vSphere?  And not just for a 30 or 60 day trial period.

  (2) the following specifications will work to such an environment?

  I know that my motherboard supports virtualization via the bios setting.

  Processor AMD FX 6120

  32 GB of RAM

  Single NETWORK adapter

  I thought that seeing a documentation that says NIC minimum is 2.  Is it really necessary for me to setup/install/run vSphere?

  If VMWare does not have a solution for me right now, you are aware of an alternative which might better suit this requirement?

  I did research on the upgrade to windows 8 pro to get hyper-v or using Citrix XenServer.  All comments on these technologies?

  Yes, you can use the free vSphere Hypervisor for this case.

  You can configure multiple virtual machines as your system can handel. Isn´t there is a free version of VMware View availible, so you must use the 'normal' RDP protocoll to access your desktop.

  A single network adapter works too (of course you don t have any possiblilty of failover).

  I'm quite new with virtualization but very interested. especially now with my problem.

  My idea was to set up a Windows Server at home with a PCI Express for my watch (coax cams). So I had my server at home with al the benefits and my server is running all day, it was normal to pair my watch to it.

  The problem is that pilots would work under Windows Home server. Under XP, Visa or Win7.

  At least a thought so. So here are my questions.

  -Can I access a PCI card to COAX a virtualization. This card has 8 coax intro for the cam. If so, is there a special setup for?

  -With my first try to install Esxi on USB, it would work. I received the message:

  On my laptop, I booted the cd Esxi and did an install on a clean USB (no files are partitions).

  After that I have pluged into my server and started. This with the error accordingly.

  For your info. I worked with an Asus Athom card mother-AT5NMIO-I. And yes I have now, there is no Board performance, but ideal for usage, I needed. Also it is a test of a performance solution more.

  I think that you will have the problem with all virtualization solutions. They work in the same way about the material. If your supervisor does not know how to manage your device, it won't present it to your VM.

  This kind of device is a nightmare when you work on virtualization!

  On your problem of booting from USB, verify that USB emulation is set to "fixed disk" in the Bios.

• The more fundamental question - not answered

  I am a potential customer really frustrated.  I want to take my old Compaq Windows XP machine, delete the Junk I don't no need and "migrate" to my new MacBook Pro (the Compaq has a broken screen and works terribly with an external monitor... it is running OK, but the screen issues are difficult to handle, plus I want just a laptop).

  Here is the #1 question, for which I can't find a simple answer:

  1. do I need to install Windows on the MacBook Pro FIRST?

  I think it would be #1 FAQ - I don't want to buy Windows version - what if I do not, and if it must be previously installed before you run the merger, according to me, that I have to buy a new copy (I've updated the Compaq to a retail version of Windows XP Professional, but the used copy had been sitting in the envelope of shrinkage for years in the office... so there NOT all Service Packs.  The Compaq has the installed Service Pack.

  After buying a MacBook and a software to go with it, I'm good with purchase of merger (which looks like a top quality program) - but I REALLY don't want to buy Windows as well (it was not in my budget).

  I searched forums, FAQ, reviews, how - to, from, and there is no consistency to the installation methods.  Most seem to involve using what we call Boot Camp (I've heard of but I'm not familiar with, being a fairly recent Mac convert) to create a Windows partition using Windows Installer disk somehow.

  If it's true, I'm screwed and I have to pay for (I guess) Windows 7 and the basic versions probably do not work for me I am looking at a high price (if I can pass it to Win7 LATER... like 6 mos or so... that's fine, I just can't spend the money now).

  This post is much longer than the answer... I hope.  And if it is a simple 'yes' or 'no' PLEASE put in the FAQ; I have 2 neighbors that have not installed Windows when they moved to Mac recently for exactly the same reason - that they could not understand what the answer was to question my (and their).

  What you say, correct, its a CYCLICAL once file3 archived then it goes again to a file1
  Here one more point, once the redo log file is full when it is archived , then only it will start writing in file2

  then install 11.2.0.1 software in /u01/app/oracle/product/11.2.0/db
  
  Step 2. Run utlu112i.sql and solve all the problem mentioned in the output
  
  Step 3. Stop the db 10g
  
  Step 4. Copy the new file inti.ora with the new 11g setting in the ORACLE_HOME/dbs 11.2
  
  Step 6. Set ORACLE_HOME as a new ORACLE_HOME 11.2
  
  Step 7. set the ORACLE_SID for 10g DB and starts in UPGRADE mode

  regarding your question on step 6 (maybe 7 or you meant) so the answer is that you start up using 'upgrade', not normal mode. You are starting/editing the 'old' database of version under the new oracle_home/binary software and do the scripts (catupgrd.sql) special to upgrade the database itself. Saying in other words, start upgrade is not startup, it opens a database in a special mode

  In the two databases, I log in F861 and create a simple table with two columns VARCHAR2 in TESTGRANTS
  In the two databases connected under F861, I have grant SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE on TESTGRANTS to the F860ADMIN role
  In two databases, the role of F860ADMIN was granted to the user F860
  
  In the 10.2.0.4 database, when I connect to F860 via SQL * MORE and run SELECT * FROM F861. TESTGRANTS; It works

  I am very new in the world of xml editor. But I read the docs and articles for a few days. And try to get an idea on how this whole EBS + XMLP together. My knowledge explains the next steps that follow us when we create reports-
  
  1 generate the Oracle Apps standard report xml data file
  2. work on model generator Word to load this xml data file and create our own template and save it as .rtf
  3 al ' XMLP, create the model and load the .rtf file
  4. create data definition and load the model
  5 run the report
  
  
  Please help me if I am wrong with my understanding. Now, my question is-
  
  Where write us sql queries to get the data in the report. Say that balance report, now when I run the standard report, it shows its own data... Now, what should I do if I want to display the balance of my company? Where to write sql queries and database connection strings?

• (I hope) a fundamental question about the buttons on the Flash site

  I'm new to Flash & Actionscript and learning that I create a basic site.  My question is: I have a home page on the site with the navigation buttons, but on all other pages of the site, the need for buttons to be in a different position - is it possible to have the buttons leaving once the homepage? Or would it not make more sense to create a new set of buttons for the rest of the site?  If the latter is an option, do I get rid of the original set once the user leaves the home page so they are not sitting there in the wrong place?

  I use a Macbook Pro OSX 10.6.6 and Flash Professional CS4.

  Also learning through a Lynda.com membership if it's useful to know.

  DisplayObject items may change on a keyframe.  You can change the positions in the creation or with actionscript environment.

  I used to have a bar at the top of Firefox, where I could shoot down my bookmarks menu. Who has disappeared. Ask "where are my favorites?" lead to useless as answers "how to bookmark a page." It has been suggested to click on the menu icon (you have to guess what the top of 3 bars right) and click on the bars to view menu, or something like that. problem is, there is no option in this menu. Who is responsible for screwing up what used to be a very user friendly browser? I might have to go back to the Solution Explorer, not a happy prospect. Firefox, you pay attention?

  Hi BarryB, in the window menu, down, there is a Customize button. When the Customize dialog box opens, along the bottom, there is "show/hide toolbars.
