"ocxinstall" listed in Add/Remove programs

In my control panel in Add/Remove programs is a file/application/program title ocxinstall.  I've never heard or seen this before.  It is great 956 MB and after clicking on the support link I am informed that the editor is "apexis' version 1.0.0.32.  I ran a search on the C drive with no results.  How can I determine what it is and what it does?

Hello

Archive program files if such program listed there. I couldn't find much information about this file but you can visit apexis and see if it is related to the file below.

I hope this helps.

Thank you, and in what concerns:

Hi Alvaro_900,

-Which is the key that you can't find?

You can find the uninstaller for Java folder in the C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information folder.

Try to uninstall it from there and check.

• Try uninstalling cyberdefender internet security and there is no program listed in Add/Remove programs?

I've uninstalled it months ago and added norton antivirus, I recently uninstalled norton because I bought a new program which has an antivirus program, but won't install until I have remove cyberdefender internet security? Can someone please!

Ok. Now you have uninstalled Norton from your machine and trying to install new Anti virus and you receive this error message.

Think that everything related to the Cyber defender in Add or remove programs? tell the toolbar associated with it or any tool update direct links?

Make sure you delete it and try to install the new AV.

Thank you

• KB2728973 does not appear in the list, add / remove programs

Hi, I am using Windows XP Media Center Edition with service pack 3 is installed, and KB2728973 is displayed as being installed on the Microsoft update site, but KB2728973 does not appear in the list, add / remove programs. The rest of July for Windows XP updates appear as being installed on the two site update of Microsoft and adding list / remove programs, it seems strange that KB2728973 does not work. It is important that KB2728973 does not appear in the list of add / remove programs? or do I need to do more to install it? I also tried to manually install the KB2728973, but again, he did not appear in the list Add / Remove programs. I understand that there is a position similar to mine, but I read it, and I realized that the question of the poster was a bit different from mine. I also wanted to take the time to mention that the automatic updates of Windows listed KB2728973 as being installed successfully, but it always seems strange that KB2728973 does not appear in the list, add / remove programs. I also checked in C:\WINDOWS, and there wasn't any folder $NtUninstall to KB2728973. Oh, and Yes, I have "Show updates" checked in Add / Remove programs.   Contribution to this issue would be greatly appreciated.

It is normal that some updates to not appear in the list of add / remove programs in the control panel for various reasons, but in this case, it will update the entries in the untrusted certificates store then to see if it is installed, you can check if the newly revoked certificates are listed.

Here is a link to a page that explains the changes he brings (the certificates that have been revoked):

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/security/advisory/2728973

Scroll down to the section that has the right:

How can [B] after you apply the update, I check the certificates in the Microsoft Untrusted Certificates Store? [/ B]

If you have no events in Event Viewer, you can open IE and click on Internet Options - Content tab - then in the Middle under "Certificates" click on "Certificates" and then click on the arrow to scroll to the right and click the "Untrusted publishers" tab.  You should see all those listed in the MS article here.

It also creates this key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software \Microsoft\Active Setup\Installed Windows\ {C3C986D6-06B1-43BF-90DD-BE30756C00DE}

where it lists what Windows Update of roots revoked.

• In "Add/Remove Programs" he has no option to remove when a program is selected in the populated list?

I can see all of the programs listed in Add/Remove Programs option in the control panel.  When I select a program in the list, there is no option to remove / uninstall the program.  I tried a lot of programs and none give me the option?

Hello

Method 1.
Reregister the install and check engine.
a. Click Start, click Accessories and then click command prompt.
b. at the command prompt, type the following and press ENTER after each line:

MSIExec /Unregister

Method 2.

• Successful marked KB2419632 update but do not show in Add/Remove programs

Hi all

I have Windows XP, SP3.

This update (KB2419632) that successful shows in the history of Windows Update for January 13, 2011.

However, he was not in the list of updates in Add or remove programs.

I noticed only 2 weeks later (January 2011-27).

I downloaded the update and he ran for office. It installed and is now listed in Add/Remove programs.

I know I should ask questions first, but I found this forum later.

It was the right thing to do? Should I keep or uninstall?

I would do anything to this topic or next month updates will install as they always have?

Never had any problems with the updates before.

I also noticed the error Event ID 8 event with source crypt32 sometimes Viewer on 16 January and 27 January.

Not sure if this is related to the issue of the update.

Any help, tips are appreciated.

Albenbell

P.S. I have Norton Internet Security 2011 that I have updated since the 2010 version, about 3 weeks (8 January - 2011).

Hi Albenbell,

1. When did you start to question?

2. you remember to make changes to the computer before this problem?

3. do you have an antivirus/antispyware/security or other programs that are set to block it?

Usually this will happen not unless if you make system changes that can remove the updates. However since you installed it again you can let him be here and no need to remove it. This problem won't happen with future updates and you can go ahead and install them.

About event ID 8, you can consult the following KB articles and check.

Crypt32 8 events reported continuously on Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, or Windows XP

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/2253680

8 the event ID is logged in the application log

Hope this information is useful.
