We had the people that our PC reconstruction after an accident some time ago, say "it seems that the Windows swap file was somehow moved on the disk"D", and it should be on the main 'C' drive.  Microsoft sent us an email with instructions on how to reset the Windows paging on 'C' drive system and to reset the minimum and maximum space allowed for it.  We did it, but the ' warnings are still there. • Backup associated with repeated warnings ID 51: an error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\DR1 during a paging operation (or \Device\Harddisk5\DR5)

I just found out about 7 000 event ID 51 warnings in the event viewer.

These warnings began when I started using an IEEE 1394 external drive for backup. I can't say if the more than 7,000 warning messages started after formatting, or when the backup began.

About 5,000 messages occurred during the first backup which lasted several hours, back on February 24.

All of them had: an error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk5\DR5 during a paging operation.

Managed backup done this night here and as far as I know. (I don't look in the observer of events at this time.)

The next day, at 11:00, the messages have started, but this time in bunches of a dozen or less within one or two seconds. And they all change to this:

An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\DR1 during a paging operation.

Since then, the warnings occur sporadically. The backup program ran on 28 February, and produces over a thousand more. A group that's happened when I tried to back up the registry to a subdirectory on the drive yesterday.

What is strange, is that the drive seems pretty much OK. Backup completed without error. I can copy files to it, and then copy it.

Given that these are warnings, is this correct? A driver problem?

    the drive is using 6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713 - 1255)

I formatted just before using it for the backup. These are the old years, but we never had any problems with it before.

Any ideas on how to understand what is happening?

You can also try changing the driver firewire to INHERIT one. (Device Manager, Bus IEEE 1394 controller, software update driver, browse my computer, let me pick from a list... Choose the line of inheritance in it.

If Acronis reports bad blocks on the disk, then you should replace the disk as soon as possible.  Blocks of bad sectors/bad is not repairable, and once they begin to appear that they tend to behave like a snowball rolling downhill, you will get several of them with increasing speed.  You may lose your data if you keep using this drive.

Regarding the events 7009 & 7000, you will need to copy & paste the events here for give us to you more information.  Double-click on the event to see its properties, and then click the icon of the Clipboard (which looks like 2 pages of paper) to copy the event, you can then paste it in your next post.  These Service Controller errors may be caused by a multitude of different things.

  • Error in the Event Viewer system log

    Separated from this thread.

    Gerry,

Thank you for your response.  It gives me a better understanding than the data stored on my computer that may be able to help me, and you have introduced me into a player.  I've posted the system log here and it includes hundreds of lines.  However I do not know how to make it visible to you.  I checked it to share and the only file that is serious is one that you brought me to download.  Although I have not found the answer to my problem, I found your advice gave me a better understanding about the tools that are available.  Maybe I'll get to understand how to use them.

Please provide more information for your issue to be diagnosed.

Restart your computer and wait 20 minutes for the system to operate before you download information. When the review much, not Event Viewer log files all problems show in the period immediately after the computer has booted.

Please provide a copy of your system information file. Type the system information in the search box above the Start button and press the ENTER key (alternative is select Start, all programs, accessories, System Tools, system information). Select file, Export and give the file a name noting where it is located. Not to place the cursor in the body of the report before exporting the file. The system creates a new information file system each time system information is available. You must allow a minute or two before the file is completely filled before exporting a copy. Please download the file to your OneDrive, to share with everyone and post a link here. If the report is in one language other than English, please indicate the language.

  • Event Viewer/Task Scheduler error message

I get the error message "MMC could not create the snap" in Task Scheduler and Event Viewer. I tried various things, including a reinstallation of the .NET Framework, and nothing seems to solve the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    michiganjoe,
Thank you for visiting the Microsoft Answers community forum.

The first thing I would try is to run the System File Checker to see if any system files got corrupted:
To run the System File Checker tool, follow these steps:
Click Start and type cmd in the box start the search.
Right click on cmd in the list programs, and then click Run as administrator.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue
At the command prompt, type the following line and press ENTER:
    sfc/scannow
When the analysis is complete, test to see if the problem you are experiencing is resolved.

If this does not work, we need a little more information, the better to help you.  What version of Vista are you using?  When exactly this error happen?  Is that what you see in the event viewer, or you get the error when you try to open the event viewer and Task Scheduler?
Have changes made to your computer recently, as new hardware or installed software or an update / upgrade to software or drivers?  Have you tried to do a system restore to before the problem came first?
To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
Click Start, type system restore in the search box, and then click System Restore in the list programs.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or a confirmation, type your password or click on continue.
In the System Restore dialog box, click on choose a different restore point and then click Next.
In the list of restore points, click a restore point created before you started having the problem, and then click Next.
    Click Finish.
The computer restarts and system files and settings are back to the State they were in when the restore point was created.

Let us know the status of your problem and if we can also provide assistance.
    Thank you

  • What does "a parity error was detected on \Device\ide\idePort0" mean and how can I fix?

I have a Pentium 4, XP SP3, 2 HDs installed, and I don't think I have SCSI but in my registry, it shows the HDs and two CD - RW and DVD drives listed under SCSI and there is no topic such as IDE, Atapi or AT (the area I'm talking about in the registry is: \HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\HARDWARE\DEVICEMAP\) so I don't know what is happening in this area...? Anyway, everything else refers to above devices IDE or Atapi etc..

As well as the above parity error, I noticed a little more that I will add here:

"The driver has detected an error on \Device\Harddisk0\D controller" (this is an ALL NEW HD)

"The device, \Device\Harddisk1\D, has a bad block" (it's second HD giving the same error msg, the last HD failed and this is used)

"The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block" (this is my CD - RW drive, which seems to work very well, it's the DVD player that is not working properly)

"While validating this \Device\Serial0 was really a serial port, a fifo was detected. The fifo will be used. »

All of these errors are coming together for the most part. Please help as I just replaced a hard drive failing during the summer, now it is looking like another is a failure, but I want to know if something else in my computer can cause drives to fail, or causing errors in some way, or any other information anyone can give me to help before you start the process of replacing a HD failure (again!)

    Thank you... Denise

    Hi groovydee,

    Method 1

I suggest you reinstall the controller and chipset drivers by contacting the manufacturer of the computer, check to see if it helps.

    Method 2

If the previous step fails, then you need to check disk scan on the hard drive to scan and difficulty of bad sectors on the disk.

How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP

    http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/315265

Note: While running chkdsk on the drive if bad sectors are found on the hard drive, then chkdsk attempts to repair this area if all the data available in this area may be lost.

I keep getting error messages (code 51) and information in my event viewer, along w / other types (it's for a later date), which, in the description

detect error on device\Harddisk3\D during a paging operation. I found some info saying that Seagates default external hard drive will be Hibernate causes the error. So in the right Manager device - I clicked the usb hub of this hard disk, clicked on management of the power supply and checked the box that says let the computer put the player in standby to save power. It does not solve the problem. from what I can gather is that nobody knows what the "D". Maybe that's the problem? It is an old system w / a few updates in the RAM memory and sound card, 2 GB (RAM), processor Intel Pentium clocked at 2.66 GHz, all wrapped together and became the HP Pavilion 764n.
