• Loopholes in the upgrade/migration steps.

  We do an upgrade. Database Oracle version 8.1.7 (No. CARS) to 10.2.0.5 (RAC). Old operating system: Tru64 Unix. New OS: RHEL 5.
  
  Database is of small size and about 30 GB.
  
  We have the production database (8.1.7, Tru64) has exported and imported to a new development environment (10.2.0.5, RHEL 5) (with less data, but all objects.). The valid/invalid objects are same from (8.1.7) production.
  
  Now, we have created to tablespaces, grants, schema DDLS and almost all of the objects (some of them will be used the latter) in the area of development mentioned above.
  
  Are the steps suggested by some colleagues for upgrade/migration
  1. install Oracle 10.2.0.5 with RAC in the new box
  2 migrate settings init.ora (with some changes)
  3. create the database (empty)
  3. use of replacement of the rollbacktablespace and rollbacksegments undotablespace
  4. create storage for the application schemas (will be created by the SQL scripts prepared earlier)
  5. grant of rights (will be given by the SQL scripts prepared earlier).
  6. take full export
  7 do the import!
  
  I want to ask the experts about the possible loop holes that they see in this process.
  
  I'll post the same thread in the Forum 'Database Upgrade' also get some reflections more (not foreseen for spamming). Please bear with me.

• ODI SDE_ORAR1213_ADAPTOR_SDE_ORA_SLAJOURNALFACT step in 11.1.1.10.1 running forever

  Hi all

  I finished the field mappings and run the initial process of ETL to load the financial data in a 11.1.1.10.1 environment. Step SDE_ORAR1213_ADAPTOR_SDE_ORA_SLAJOURNALFACT worked for nearly 11 hours before an order there. I'm running on an instance of Vision of the EBS 12.1.3 and loading only 2 books with ledger_type = "Primary" and limit the list of modules of subledger to three sources of document of 200, 201, 707.

  I can run this step even by using an earlier version on OLIVIER 11.1.1.8.1 and will culminate in 94 minutes and retrieve 4.5 million documents. I have not made a comparison between the SQL code of the two versions, but note the indications of database are used in the 11.1.1.10.1 version.

  Any suggestions besides delete indicators? Did anyone else encounter this problem in this version?

  Thanks, I checked his stats, and which was not the issue. To correct the problem, we had to change the indicators in step so that the stage finish. I created an SR for this question and Oracle sent a MS Word document with the steps for

  modify SDE_ORAR1213_ADAPTOR_SDE_ORA_SLAJOURNALFACT, which worked but took 20 minutes longer to perform the extract as our solution. However, he had completed.

  If you select AIF_FILE_PROJECT only this project xml files will be copied.

  Basically these files replaced with the patch the patch.500 put a few new files instead of old one so you just need to import the project that's all.

  the project name, you have to select that all xml files are present which will import.

• Error during migration of BLOB type data

  I am migrating the data to oracle for oracle and tables soruce and targets have type BLOB field.
  
  I get the error when I will carry out the interface with these blob fields. But my interface is successful if I'm not maaping this blob files.

  ODI-1226: step BLOB fails after 1 attempt.
  ODI-1240: BLOB stream fails during a load operation. This goal of load flow chart IMAGES.

  Is choosing the path of a physical schema mapped to the logical schema DW_BIAPPS11G_LOG_FILES.

  Physical schema is likely to have the value as follows - C:\\oracle\\Middleware\\instances\\instance1\biapps/log

  Change this path journal of topology ODI use a bar oblique /biapps instead of backslash \biapps. Issue seems to be because \b is a special character and applies only to the windows platform.

  This should solve the problem: C:\\oracle\\Middleware\\instances\\instance1/biapps/log

  I'm looking for any suggestion/plan with Vcenter DB migration steps towards the new virtual machine, and then upgrade the server vcenter

  4.1 for Update1/2

  My plan will be

  (1) creating new virtual machine.

  (2) fresh install 64-bit OS

  (3) migration Vcenter DB of the physical server to the new virtual machine.

  (4) upgrade to Vcenter Server 4.1 update 41 4.1 Update1/2

  I agree with this approach

  As long as you leave the old DB in tact and simply detach and copy the DB to the new Victoria Cross.

  Before you run the upgrade on the new VC and DB.

  This way, you have a restoration plan in case something goes wrong with the upgrade.

  Just to add:

  You must migrate the ADAM database so to maintain the specified permissions vCenter

  You can add an additional variable with the number of lines and validation against 0 i.e. If count (X) > 0 then loop and reduce the number of 1 for each iteration.

  Yes run on the implementation stage and target should be there. Also if you use the incremental update you could face another sequence of error numbers are not allowed here.

• Migrate the data base sybase HR peoplesoft on oracle 11g

  We're looking for sybase 12 migration to Oracle 11 g. We are not sure on what path to choose for this migration to. THS sybase Database is about 55 GB. Here are a few questions. Please let me know. The downtime on this database cannot be more than 2 days at max.
  
  1. What is the fastest way and to do this, if there is one?
  2. all the Documentation on the migration steps?
  3. do we have to use any tools 3rd part for this?
  4 can we reach the migration of data with sql loader, if so is it the way suggested to do this, and is there a documentation on that?
  
  I tried developer sql to do the migration, but it doesn't go well and finally found that is not the way to migrate a database with peoplesoft, here is the link environment to explain more about what I've done with sql developer.

  (1) build an Oracle system demo patched for the same level of output than the current system of production.
  (2) launch the application designer and compare the production system for the demonstration for you system can capture changes.
  (3) load a custom table with the tables listed in the MVPRDEXP. EXP in the production system. Run a script to create a script to export for all PSRECDEFN where the RECTYPE is 0. This identifies all application data tables. You may want to dms export large tables in parallel.
  (4) DMS import the exported data in the Oracle instance.
  (5) re - apply changes.
