• MXE3500 and SnS, help me understand

  I am fairly new to the world of digital media of telepresence together and jumped in feet first. (in fact pushed)  I have a question on what exactly does our MXE3500?  I know this process and formats and stuff like that, but it seems to Miss sometimes when pulishing to show and share.

  Our current configuration goes like this.  Record endpoints to the Trade Commissioner, who sends to the MXE3500, and then sends it to the SnS.  We are not doing something fancy, yet.  What I tested is a TCS facility that sends directly to the SnS, which seems to work pretty well.  This opens my question: why do need us the MXE3500?  I'm sure that I have a lack of something obvious.

  The MXE is a transcoder and streaming box, it is in fact capable of taking these TCS recorded videos and encode them for use on other devices - as for example the iPhone or Android. TCS records only things directly to your SNS in certain set formats, while MXE can transcode and convert to many different codecs and resolutions etc. It also has the ability to do things like drive ins and watermarks on the videos and with the addition of pulse can also do speech to text recognition and speaker too. It also has another advantage to multicast, so if you have a bunch of players digital signage the MXE should be able to take the live recording of TCS and broadcast in all of your players edge 300 or DMP

• Problem with the video thumbnail and presentation on SnS

  I have install DMM and SnS 5.2.0 on vmware. Problems are video thumbnail not worked (just see the static image as a roll of film) and if I created the video with the presentation, the image of presentation showed nothing. This limitation comes from the vmware version? Thank you.

  In this case, show and share should generate thumbnails automatically.

  Anyway, as you know that VMware version is not officially supported, so if you want to continue, the first thing to do would be implementation of the software in a show and share the device and see if the same problem occurs.

• The upgrade of the SnS to 5.3.7

  Hello, everyone!

  My company bought separately DMM 5.3.6 and SnS 5.3.2 servers, and they did not work for a long time for an obvious reason.

  TAC engineer told us that we need to update firmware of the SnS in 5.3.7 to allow two devices to work with them.

  Now, I have a file named SNS - 5.3.7 - MR.ISO, but I have no idea how I can between SnS system now... I can't find a menu option in the GUI.

  The disk is not bootable, image DMM... Please can you me - it's good software disc to upgrade the SnS system to 5.3.7?

  you are looking on the wrong place, you need to do the upgrade using "SSH to SNS" IAA then go to the control unit-> software update. Find the following

• Cannot connect on DMM & SnS suddenly

  We manage the Cisco DMS 5.2 VmWare demo installation and today we are experiencing strange behavior. First license expired suddenly and after that the VmWare image has rebooted and same license apply again, he returned to normal.  Now, we are unable to connect to DMM or SnS of nowhere!

  I tried to reboot the system, but without any vain. Also tried with 3 different admin combination name of user and password and (root/admin) without success.

  However, the username/password admin working in the Cisco Digital Media Manager Appliance Administration Interface (IAA) and SnS!

  

  Any input would be appreciated. THX!

  Since it is a configuration of VMware, the best is to go forward and

  reinstall devices in VMware.  You have access to the

  the IAA so you should be able to back up the configuration and

  then perform a reinstall and restore the configuration.

• Show and share edit videos and previews?

  Hi I am trying to add previews to all of my videos published all the videos I have at the moment are .wmv and SnS does not allow me to change anything, I realized. But when I try to edit a video recorded my webcam (.flv) it permits the modifactions and previws even if I can't watch it published video recorded by webcam.

  These issues have to do with the fact that I have flv and wmv files? If so, why I can't make a WMV that I am allowed to do on a flv?

  You can edit the .flv or .mp4 files in the interface of show & share.

  .Wmv (windows media) files must be edited or the Preview on the outside.

  Make sure that your streaming server is running the show and share.

  You can check it in the SERVICES of the Admin Module of the DMM tab.

  The streaming server must be running to enable the editing feature for the

  Flash & mpeg4 files.

• Migrate from old apppliance DMM to a new appliance DMM

  I was assigned to the next task: I need to install and configure a new DMM and SNS for updating version 5.3 (since the old servers could have been updated only up to 5.2.2).

  My concern is related to the content (layout of the presentations, parameters, timetable etc.) of existing devices.

  Will there be a way to migrate content to the new devices?

  It is currently not supported for the DMM/SNS backup configuration and content of a material model and restore them on a model of different material.

  A full migration of the legacy of DMM again hardware option, it is still in the plans, but is not available. I recommend you follow it with your team counts Cisco in order to stay up to date on the plan.

  Cisco MXE has three gigabit ethernet interfaces, DMM SnS of four, two Cisco Cisco. I wanted to ask if these devices are supported by the aggregation of links (LACP).

  I'm afraid that the answer is no.

  For DMM and SnS, allows only one interface. On the MXE, you can use several interfaces at the same time as long as they are in different subnets.

• DMS 5.2 proxy server?

  I have my DMS running in a network that sails through a Server Proxy, is it possible to set it up in the DMM and SnS I saw the option in the DMP, but not in the servers.

  The SnS & DMM cannot be configured to use the Proxy.

  It is a known problem.

  That's because DMD in version 5.2 uses Flash to display the RSS ticker

  And the Flash 9 and 10 players built in security to not allow content

  1: only use the RSS feeds from sites that allow cross site scripting.

  2: use a line of service "Yahoo Pipes" that acts as a proxy. This

  will result in a new URL which can be used in the DMD, bypassing

  a cross-site scripting.

  If you use the RSS feed in the design of the standard display tool, it will work

  with any RSS feed you and you don't need a cross-domain policy file.

  I have several questions about upgrading to vCenter 5 foundation:

  (1) is editing Foundation vCenter is frowned upon in vSphere 6?

  (2) If a client vCenter Foundation 5 license and valid SnS, can it move its vCenter server to vCenter 6 Foundation?

  (3) if the customer has vCenter Foundation 5 license and SnS validates that lisenses must purchase for upgrade to vsphere 6?

  As far as I KNOW, the only limitation is you can not have multiple AK for a single physical site, but thos have the same characteristics as the normal versions, so you should be able to connect. On the contrary, the Essentials version can be linked

• Just bought the paid version of Vshpere 4, where should I start?

  After using the free version of esxi I now VM VSPHERE 4 STND for 1, ACADEMIC GOLD SNS for VMSPHERE, VM VCENTER SERVER 4 STAND and SNS GOLD ACADEMIC for VCENTER. I have 10 licenses of the first element which is the license for 10 Sockets. I have 5 virtual servers each with 2 Sockets for processors and the second element is supported for a year. The VCENTER server is that I'm not used to it and I know he controls the virtual machine etc. and the last element is support for the vcenter.

  Is the vmware that sits on my SD cards bit must be changed with a different version of ESX etc. ? Is there a start-up and is there another forum I should use?

  The only difference between free and paid license versions are the license keys. The key to the standard gives you access to the features available for the Standard version. Change the key, change characteristics. Add the hosts to vCenter will install the vCenter on the host agent and allow you to manage a single vCenter Client.

• DMM / SnS and definition of filters

  When you set filters in your DMM to import your Active Directory domain users, is there a way to move these specific users see the and hand Rolls (Editor / author)?   Maybe it's a side script thing SnS, but I have not found this process.

  Here is a current example of a DMM import which does not place users in the rolls, but they Gets a DMM group.  I would like assigns combining Show and part editor and / or rolls of the author.

  I agree, it would be nice, but there is no way to automatically assign roles to a user group.  Have users in groups makes it easier to manually assign roles well.

• RestAPI and automated deployment Support

  We are currently migrating a CSR 1000v to AWS customer but have problems to automate the deployment. I've found a few contradictory documents who first asserted that the RestAPI was not available on the CSR1000v FRIEND but felt that he was in fact checking FRIEND once it has been initialized and running. I wasn't however able to use the restapi without first logging in and create a user since CSR is started and initially using a key and user ec2. I expect to help answering the following questions:

  - A user can be specified before initiating CSR 1000v for the first time, so that the RestAPI are accessible to first start without connection manually create this ssh user and if so, how?

  -J' saw that there were documents with an example on how reach HA using the EEM to make a change of route. One of the documents said he was using a machine virtual linux helper to run these route changes, the other document made it seem as if the EEM applet actually did change of route schedule without access to a virtual machine for assistance. Are there tools available on CSR in TCL form or any other aws which would allow CSR to send messages SNS to aws api or other API call natively without the use of a virtual machine in linux support?  

  -CSR 1000v for openstack document shows the ability to offer some changes to running configuration before the first start using the

  FVO - env.xml and or iosxe_config.txt. If all properties can be specified to be applied to the running-config to startup the instance of CSR and how it specifies these properties?

  Thanks for any help in this matter. We found the CSR to satisfy our needs, just to adapt to CSR in our deployment strategies.

  Some very good questions and answers should certainly be added to our future guides and documents. In the meantime, I'll try to help out with as much detail here as I can... It is in fact a way to pre-configure the CSR on AWS when first starting. AWS includes a feature called "UserData", which is a text field that can be supplied in an instance during the deployment. Machines virtual Linux can use this blob of text to allow a user to execute a script during the first boot, or in the case of CSR, allow us to use it to inject the IOS CLI commands when you first start. The UserData field can be specified using the AWS, provision of tools, including the portal, API, CLI, CloudFormation, etc.  The only real trick to this, is adding at the beginning of each line CLI with a numeric index.  Here is an example of a block of text, you could provide as UserData for the boot of CSR with a name of user and password configured pre:

  iOS-config-0001 = username privilege 15 password test123 test123

  If you need to add other commands, you can just increase the number of "ios-config-xxxx" at the beginning of each line.  AWS has a size of 16 KB for the string UserData, so be aware of this limitation.

  You could also go further and use CloudFormation to provision the CSR as well as any additional infrastructure, and the UserData field can be supplies in this scenario as well. I've attached a file to this message, which contains an example of a CloudFormation model.  You'll notice it includes the same piece of UserData to start the name of user and password for access to the API, and it also opens the default API port in the AWS security group.

  OK to the next question...

  For high availability functionality, we need is no longer the use of a helper VM.  The script that initiates the call to API AWS has been integrated in the CSR itself, so the EEM can call directly.  The following link will guide you in the correct steps for EEM using without the assistance of VM:
