"Of Carmen Sandiego Great Chase through Time" (c1999) on Windows Vista ".
This game is supposed to run on Windows 3.1x/95/98 but I can't seem to install on Vista even with the Compatibility Mode. I tried to do it through win 98:
"This product does not support Windows NT."
Well okay, we will try to win 95:
"This product does not support Windows NT."
Yes, very well. But who cares? I don't know how NT came out, but surely he didn't come before win 3.1 x and this game supposedly works for this. Every time that I tried this, I tried different setting options (resolution 640 x 480, 256 colors, etc.) without success.
What now?
Virtual PC 2007 also works with Vista Home Premium, but is not supported by Microsoft.
With Microsoft® Virtual PC 2007, you can create and run one or more virtual machines, each with its own operating system, on a single computer. This gives you the ability to use different operating systems on a single physical computer.
The 1st thing you need to do is BUY a previous Windows Operating System Disk/license in order to exploit what it contains.
And it still does not work properly.
See you soon.

Which edition of windows 7 you are using?
Step 1: This game is not compatible with windows 7. You can try to install in compatibility mode and check.
Step 2: If you still experience the same problems of compatibility in install / playing this game you can use windows XP mode.

Time to reinstall windows vista to rotate quickly again.
I have a HP laptop about 1.5 years. He starts to run slowly, so it's time to reinstall a new copy of windows. I saved everygthing in 2 different places (you can never be too careful) and I'm ready for the next step. I know that my computer has a Recovery Manager and part of the hard drive (about 10 GB) dedicated to a recovery. I know that I can also create computer recovery discs. What I have to do any of these steps or it is easy to go into the computer, by pressing a few keys, and the next thing you know I have a clean copy of windows, just like when I bought the computer running fast? All I have to do is reinstall my applications and data. Please notify Chris Mah
Hello chris mah
You must create records while your computer is new, after you have installed your commonly used programs, and the system works properly. If you have a problem with the computer at a later date, you can restore the image of hard drive in its original configuration by using the recovery discs.
Use HP Backup and Recovery Manager to create system recovery discs. Since your operating system is 1.5 years, there is no need to create a recovery disk now
So, at this point, I advice reinstall you the os from the recovery partition.
Press F11 several times that the computer starts. Window backup and HP Recovery Manager is displayed. Follow the instructions provided.
Hope this info helps you
Good luck

I have a WD NAS, who has worked through my Explorer windows until recently - now I can access only through Internet Explorer 8 using FTP.
I use to be able to open the windows Explorer and able to 'network' and click on the NAS and enter my name/password and access all folders and files to the breast. Now I go into windows Explorer and I can see the NAS and I can click on it and enter my name and password, and it shows even the top-level folders-
I can't do any further due to the standard contextual windows alert, and the message goes between the "network name is not available" and the message "already mapped the drive. I have not noticed a model and did not install anything at the same time. Don't try to do wireless, the NAS is ethernet wired to my router and my router to my computer - no router updates/changes - no updates/changes NAS - no I do not have the mapped drives sitting over there, yes I'm admin on the computer and the NAS server - there is no noticeble change I can find - not firewall , no anitvirus, no microsoft updates - anything good for troubleshooting?
Anyone has an idea why only windows Explorer fails now to be able to access the NAS, esp when FTP with internet explore works fine? Thank you!
Hi Dgbjr68,
Try the following steps.
Step 1
Check the behavior in SafeMode with network and post back the result.

Step 2
You can also try to temporarily disable the firewall on your computer and check the status.

NOTE: Enable the firewall after trying this step.

Waiting for SP1 to come through Windows Vista update?
Hello:
I have been waiting for SP1 to make an appearance through Windows Update and am still waiting. I checked the knowledge base and checked all problem drivers to see if I had any of the components.
I don't have one of them, nor I have hidden updates that I chose to not not to install. Is there anything else that I could possibly check? I checked all my drivers in Device Manager, and all are updated.
Thank you!

I think you should check Microsoft's own article on this topic:
