Satellite C660 - reactivation of Windows

I recently had a technical support Microsoft reinstall Win 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

I find it more offensive that Toshiba are unable to provide the Original Windows activation code for the laptop that was purchased with the pre-installed operating system.

Windows 'Identification' label has died since a long time.

No backup disk has been provided, nor ever made, and there are no instructions or the inferences that it was imperative to create such.

It is not only absurd, but TOTALLY FAKE, you expect still pay for something, we ALREADY PAID for!

I have to buy a new HARD drive then, how do I use the pre-installed operating system?

As mentioned by Liam; You can order this missing recovery media...

  • Satellite C660-1R1 - recover Windows 7 product key

    Dear Toshiba support,

My Toshiba Satellite C660-1R1 bought in 2011. By the end of 2013, the original HARD drive died and I replaced it with an SSD. That said, I can't start the recovery with the original Windows 7 installation partition, or I can retrieve the product key from the registry. In addition, the sticker of the product key on the back of the laptop is almost unreadable. I read only a few letters.

Is it possible for the support of Toshiba recover my Windows 7 Home product key based on the serial number and other details? I can send the whole of the back of my laptop with two stickers to the evidence.

    Thanks for any help.
    Marcin

    Hi marcinziel
You are lucky to have a product key sticker (COA).
Some people have had success with the digitization of the AOC and using software to improve the image.
This year I bought a R50 Pro of the Satellite with Windows 7 pro and I can't find a sticker (COA) about it.
Toshiba help you with your product key problem?
I'm still waiting for a response from Toshiba.

  • Satellite C660 - 23 M Windows 7 hard disk error

I've only had my laptop (Satellite C660 - 23M) for three months, I started to have problems with him about a week earlier, including a time Blue Screen of Death, but I got the computer Safe Mode and did a system restored and it has been fine since then. Then earlier today, I had a Windows hard drive error, telling me to back-up and then repair or replace the hard drive. The back-up goes on an external hard drive as we speak, so fingers crosssed I can't stand to lose all my data.

I created a disk backup media when I got to the laptop but every time I tried with validation, it would fail, but in time, I don't think I should be so little time, just so created a non-validated copy and thought that would be nice (I'm now concerned!).

Should I restore my hard drive? If so, how? What has caused this? And because it is only 3 months old, am I stuck with a laptop to duff who will continue to break down on me?

    Hello

In your case, I would recommend to check the capacity of the HARD drive.
This can be done using the freeware tool called disk HARD Drive Fitness Utility.
I guess that this software can help detect HARD drive errors.

If the HARD drive would be affected, then you need to replace the HARD drive.
Here you will find a nice instruction how to do this:
    http://forums.computers.Toshiba-Europe.com/forums/Ann.jspa?annID=138

the laptop seems to be covered by the warranty, if the HARD drive can be replaced under term average conditions, this can be done free of charge
I would recommend asking the ASP (partner in your country) for this HARD drive they could send you this HDD.

  • Re: Satellite C660 does support Windows 7 64 bit?

My Toshiba Satellite C660/01b Notebook PSC0LA-01C01H provided with Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit installed. I later upgraded to Windows 7 Professional 32 bit.

It supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM.
Celeron Dual-Core T3500 CPU supports 64-bit processing Celeron and C660 specifications.

Other hardware and firmware - bus data and BIOS, etc. - support memory 64-bit address if I install Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. I CAN even install Win7 64-bit?

    Kind regards
    Hedley

Of course, you can install Win7 64 bit. It is supported and you can find all the drivers, tools and utilities on the Toshiba download page.

    Check it out.

  • Satellite C660 does support Windows 8

I have Toshiba Satellite C660 laptop.
For the last month 1, when I tried to open my laptop, the Welcome screen appears and then turns to the black screen.

For hours, I waited, but nothing happened.
Now, I would like to install Windows 8 on my laptop.
So my laptop supports Windows 8...

    Intel Core i3 M380
    CUTTING 2.53 GHz SPEED
2 GB total RAM (I added 1 GB extra.it was actually 1 GB)
    HARD DRIVE 250 GB

If windows 8 is supported in my laptop, so please give me drivers compatible link also.

    Thanks in advance...

    > If windows 8 is supported in my laptop, so please give me drivers compatible link also.

Even if your Satellite C660 would not officially support 8 Win, you can install this system because the laptop meets the essential system requirements, which are:

Processor: 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster with EAP, NX and SSE2 support
    RAM: 1 gigabyte (GB) (32-bit) or 2 GB (64-bit)
Hard disk space: 16 GB (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
Graphics card: Microsoft DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM driver

I don't have any idea of what C660-xxx you have exactly, but all Toshiba drivers are available here:

  • Satellite C660-15r - restore Windows 7 without password

I bought Toshiba Satellite C660-15r off someone, but the problem is that there is a password at startup upward.
It's very well because I was about to restore it somehow but when I go to the restoration of windows you need a password to access.

Is it possible to reinstall windows with using windows restore. I really hope that someone can help you.

    My advice is to follow:
When you buy used laptop install OS again to have the own operating system preinstalled. Use the Toshiba recovery image, if possible.
Just a question: do you mean password BIOS or Windows login password?

If the previous user has put a password, you need and without that password, you can do nothing.
If the pre-installed OS is locked with password login, you can install OS using recovery DVDs and you don't need any password for it. I just hope that the previous owner has created this recovery DVDs.

  • Satellite C660 - need drivers Windows XP Home edition

Anyone know if all the drivers are available so that I can go back to XP?

Currently I use W7 but can't find honestly no reason to give up XP and I also prefer the XP functionality. Based on my experience of W7 I'm dumping my Microsoft stock.

Some models are supported for Windows XP Home edition. Can you please post exact model laptop (C660-xxx)?

  • Satellite C660 - Windows 7 64 bit BSOD after upgrade RAM

    Hi guys

    my laptop Specs: Satellite C660-1JG
    -Genuine Windows® 7 Home Premium 64-bit (pre-installed, Toshiba-HDD recovery)
    -Intel® Celeron® Processor T3500
    -2048 MB of RAM DDR3 (800 MHz).

recently I increase my RAM to 4 GB (2 + 2 GB), since its installation, as soon windows7 64 bit beginning of loading, finished with BSOD. load BSOD Windows sometimes very well, but in a minute or two appears. I can confirm that it does not read the total RAM of 4 GB, I checked while the laptop was about 2 to 3 minutes ON. then I go out 1 RAM stick laptop is fine, no BSOD!

so question raises if the RAM is at fault, incompatibility etc, but I have the dual boot OS and other OS is Ubuntu 11. who reads the 3.84 GB RAM and without crashing or BSOD or any question.

Then I installed Windos 7 32 bit to see if that still has problems with 4 GB of RAM, but NO, 32 bit reads RAM 4 GB (usable 2.8 GB). without crashing or BSOD with 32, only problem with windows 64-bit version!
I checked the specification it says Max RAM 4 GB Ram and yes it supports 4 GB RAM with Linux and win7 32-bit.

I tried to update BIOS version 1.20 (currently on 1.40), but still got error: Firmware has no support of Flash (AFUWINGUI).
I was wondering if any of you can guide me to the right direction.
    Thanks in advance

I can't say for sure, but perhaps BSOD due to a compatibility issue.
What RAM you bought as add-on (brand and specification)?

  • Windows 7 does not start on the new Satellite C660-195

    Hello

    I just bought a Toshiba Satellite C660-195 with Windows 7 pre-installed.

This morning I turned on it and it came with a black box with x:windows\system32\drvload.exe in it. This box then disappeared and Startup Repair kicked. He then told me that Startup Repair cannot repair this computer automatically. The notice were to remove any device that had recently been attached to the laptop (such as a webcam or music device) but I did not install a hardware or devices. I clicked finish and stop you the laptop.

I lit it again and it's the same thing (new!)

A forum would suggest trying the following: click on the link 'Show advanced options of the system and support recovery' who asked me to choose the configuration of my keyboard, but then when I do & click then it tells me "you must register to access system recovery options" I am never given the option connect!

When using the F8 advanced boot options I'm still not able to solve this problem. The same thing (see above) that happens when I try to start in all security modes, last good known Configuration (Advanced), debug mode, start Windows normally etc. I don't understand it.

Looking for other forums, they suggested dΘplaτant zero while running and then one selects Windows 7 to restore the laptop to its factory settings, but the same thing happens - it shows just the black screen with x:windows\system32\drvload.exe launched then startup repair, that does not solve the problem.

I don't have a disc of windows 7 to restore since I only bought the laptop 6 days ago and didn't have time to do a still. In addition, the laptop must have the restoration on his hard drive, but I can't access it to restore windows.

I'm just a home user understand all technical talk. Please can someone help me?

    Hello

Sorry to hear you I have this problem. The fact is that the new laptops come with only HARD drive recovery image and not with recovery DVDs. What you can try now is to install the recovery image using HARD drive recovery facility.
If this works you need out of the box again.

Please do it following the instructions in this document - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD9102IR0000R01.htm

    Please send us comments.

  • Connection problem with the satellite C660 - 24L

    Hello world

I have a Toshiba satellite c660 - 24L running windows 7 and have had a problem with internet connection in the last two days.

Marketing, the internet works very well for around a minute and then I lose the connection. The computer says still connected but the network map displays a problem between the computer and the Wi - Fi router. After that restart the internet works fine again, and then disconnects after ~ 1 min.

A few times, the computer froze, and gave me a blue screen and memory dump, and then a forced restart.

Computer behaving the same way when connected and disconnected from the mains.

All other devices will connect to the router talk-talk with no problems.

Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance.

    Lewis.

Have you noticed a few problems if you use the local network connection?
Original Toshiba WLAN driver is pre-installed on your computer?

To be honest, it is not easy to say why this show is starting to happen so suddenly.
Try to back up OS to an earlier time using System Restore tool just to see if the problem will still be there.

  • Re: How to disable bluetooth on Satellite C660

I have a toshiba satellite c660 laptop and windows 7(32 bit) is installed on it. Recenntly I installed the utility on this following drivers

    (1) Bluetooth Monitor - v4.07 for windows 7
    (2) Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba - v8.00.03 (T) for windows 7

Bluetooth works fine but the problem is when I right click on the bluetooth system icon and select Disable bluetooth function, it turns off (turns red) a few seconds and turns on again automatically. I don't want to keep my bluetooth on all the time I want to turn it on only when I need it.

so is there a way by which I can toggle the bluetooth to my will?

any help will be appreciated.thank you

    Hello

Usually, you can disable and enable the Bluetooth functionality by using the FN + F8 key combination.

    Try this!

  • Satellite C660-24F: win 10 BSOD - system thread exception unhandled

I upgraded my Toshiba Satellite C660-24F to windows 10 pro. After the upgrade it restarts again and again showing the dead blue screen with the message
SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED. (athwbx.sys). How can I get rid of this error?

athwbx.sys which is mentioned in your message, belongs to the Atheros WLan driver...

So, I think that the BSOD appeared because of compatibility problems between the Win 10 and driver Atheros...

    Possible solution:

I think that deletion of the Atheros driver in Device Manager should help you to solve this...

Please keep the device connected to the internet using LAN.

So after uninstalling the Atheros WLan driver and you restarted the laptop, Win 10 should automatically find a driver compatible WLan to internet automatically...

  • Re: Time to build some Initial on the new Satellite C660-220

    Hello

    Just bought a Satellite C660-220 with Windows 7 pre-installed.
Confirmation of load on and followed the language and operating system but nothing has changed for half an hour or more.
How long can I wait for the original version to take?

    Thank you
    Ralph

    Hello Ralph

When you start the laptop for the first time recovery image must be installed first. It can take up to 2 hours. I know it may seem stupid now, but all the drivers, tools, utilities and additional software included in the recovery image must be installed and configured.

It will happen automatically. Please note: gift of installation of image recovery t interrupt.

  • Satellite C660 - need a new hard drive, but which?

I have a Toshiba Satellite C660-1f1 run windows 7 64-bit. 320GB hard drive there and I want to replace preferably with greater capacity, a but I'm not sure what would be appropriate.

    Anyone has any suggestions please?

    Hello

Satellite C660, but also other models of notebooks to new generation supports the SATA controller, which means that you need a HARD drive 2.5 SATA.
The size of the HARD disk is not relevant for the compatibility of the devices. This means that you can use HDD of 250 GB, 500GB etc.

But I wouldn't take a HARD drive for an upgrade. I would choose an SSD. This SSD drive is more expensive but believe me; It of certainly worth taking a SSD instead of HARD drive.
You will get great performance gain. This SSD drive is also very quiet.

Maybe it s best option for you
