Office 2007 SP1 Windowsupdate error 646
I just installed office 2007 on a new machine. 16 windows updates have been downloaded. All have failed.
Read the various posts here. All manually downloaded and installed as an administrator. A Mr. Fixit and everything OK except Office 20007 SP1.
Have tried several times to install this manually followed by Fixit, but still it fails - even in safe mode. Driving me crazy!
Today still received 4 Windows 7 updates, automatically installed without problem.
Please help much apprecited
David
Finally! It solved! Found a reference here somewhere that suggested the user account control may be the problem. Tried to set it off, but it wouldn't work. Looking for that problem and the article referred to a problem caused by the Office 97, make changes to the registry. It gives a solution I ran, disabled UAC OK, rebooted the machine, and then Windows Update. Guess what? It worked the first time! Conclusion: because I first installed Office 97 this machine, and then used a version upgrade to Office 2007, which caused the problem of UAC, which in turn has caused the problem of update. How dark is it? In any case, everything is now fine but what a trial!

http://support.Microsoft.com/kb/971058Right click on the link under Fixit icon named 'This problem', save the ResetWindows.msi on the desktop and once the download is complete, close IE.
Now run ResetWindows.msi (if you are invited to the mode to run in, choose aggressive mode)
Note: you must be connected to the internet because the tool will download and install necessary update of the software components.
When it's finished, you should be prompted to restart.

Hello!
Update for Windows Vista x 64 to Windows 7 x 64 caused the following errors:
By clicking on the "Edit" button in "Programs and features" with Office 2007 trial selected gives an error "Setup error".Setup could not find all of the products available for installation. Please contact your systm administrator. "in Windows 7 x 64. Run the installation of Office 2007 trial version downloaded the file to change the components OK works.
How to operate the button "Edit"?
Windows Update suggests to install 125KO Office 2007 SP1 repeatedly. I agree to install each time, updates installs "successfully", but suggest Windows Update to install next time. It started to happen after uninstallation and reinstallation of Office 2007.
Kind regards
Dima125 KB is obviously not a ServicePack because this would be much MB in size, you have a number of KB (knowledge base) to go with the annoying update?

As for the "Changes" problem that I have no real solution for this, only that you remove every bit of desktop of your machine and everything don't reinstall desktop applications you need. It could be a corrupted registry which is behind this problem.

Whenever I visited the MS Update site, I was prompted to download the SP1 for Office 2007. I always ignored this suggestion because I run Office 2003. I don't know why I would even be asked to provide this update unless I have versions Express in Visual c#, VB, and Developer Web loaded on my computer. These applications need this update? Should I start the update, or I might do something that is not compatible with my Office 2003?
Thank you

Error code 646: Windows Vista re Office 2007 SP 2 through Windows Update
I am running Vista Home Premium, SP1, 32-bit. Office 2007 SP1 is installed.
I've restored an Office 2007 SP2 hidden (and almost forgotten) update. Failed twice. The error code is 646.
Since the update wouldn't install and just sitting there, looking at me with a big red FAIL on it, I hid it again. Please let me know if there is a procedure to follow?
BTW, I ran into the same problems that other posters have recently that some updates installs successfully through Windows Update, others I had to install directly on the Microsoft site. Once the updates have been installed manually, of course, they were not offered by Windows Update.
Should I give the Office 2007 SP2 a whirl and try to install directly from the MS Download page, or is there something else I should do/check before this attempt?
Thanks in advance!
Download Office SP2 on the download site and try to install manually.
