Office Jet 5740: copy

Hello! I just installed the HP Officejet printer 5740.  This is a replacement under warranty.  Installation went well, however, when I make a copy, the printer screen is not the home window as it did on the other 5740.  It remains on the window asking for the number of copies.  Is there a way to fix this?  Thanks for any help.

Hi Joy8,

Display problems can often be solved with a hard reset, which can be done by turning off the unit, disconnect the power supply for a minute and turning the cord before feeding it back on.

I'll dig into the manual and check if there is a default setting, we can adjust for this problem in the meantime.

EDIT: Unfortunately, I'm not having any chance to determine if there is a feature that can be enabled in the settings panel. I would like to know if the hard reset helps.

I just bought an office jet 5740 and told him that he has an auto duplex ADF. I want to copy a document double face of 20 pages and I want that it out like 20-page double-sided offline (2:2). I can't work on how to do this? My copy of existing options are:-2 sides and 1:2. HP say that this printer does automatic duplex printing but how?

    Hello

Supply printer, automatic duplex printing, it does not provide the capability of auto duplex ADF (copy of an original two-sided) printing.

You can find the printer speicifcations below:

You can copy several pages, the output will be printed on both sides of the paper.

This can be done by selecting Original 1-face: 2-sided copy

What is different between the office jet 5740 and the 5742

    Hello Izzy1211dw,

The difference between these models (and the 5745) are content to include the box according to where you buy, like maybe one of these models can have the USB cable included in the box, which is not the other.  It is a HP reseller application, but in regards to the product specification, they are the same.

You can see the specifications for each of them in these links:

  • Office Jet 5740: installed windows 10 now cannot install updates from HP

I keep getting notifications that update for printer fails.  That's the message "HP - business WSD multifunction printer, MFP, other materials - Null Fax - HP Officejet 5740 series" the functions of the printer, I also saw that there is new software available for this printer but do not know if I could install with Windows 10

    Hi @Gwpmd,

Once the printer is working, the option would be to ignore the printer software updates or you can try these external resources, which have some progress.

A poster tried to show or hide updates and it solved their problem.

You can also give your feedback to Microsoft, and if all goes well, they will release an update to correct the function of the operating system. You can learn how here;  Updates and feedback.

  • Office Jet 5740: change password wi - fi direct

Is it possible to change the Wi - Fi Direct from the default password?

    Hi @raytmercer,

Yes, I can help you change your password wireless Direct from its default value. Simply open a Web browser and enter 192.168.223.1 in the address bar. This will open the printer Embedded Web Server (EWS). In SAP, click Network, and then on the left under wireless direct printing, select State. In the status section, click on change settings. You will then see the option to choose on with security and the section Customize the password.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance. Thank you.

  • 5740 HP Office Jet: No. WiFi

The HP office jet 5740 just buy, could not get WiFi to work. Not followed the instructions several times tried to enter the password and network name no joy.

Using ASUS laptop and have ATT Uverse cable and my laptop Wifi takes the home WiFi and I have internet.

Question: This printer will work with this kind of WiFi?

With the printer on my lap top does not detect but detects several other WiFis in the neighborhood.

The printer does not detect it.

Question: My laptop cannot detect the printers signal even if I can't connect?

The printer works it will make a copy by push button on the screen of the printer and when I connect it to my laptop via an ethernet cable just no. WiFi.

My results wireless network print said, warning "the wireless radio does not work. Contact HP support. »

Question: Is this part of the 'radio' from the printer or router?

Looks like the ATT WiFI is OK.

I loaded the CD HP and my laptop has recognized and set up the printer and I printed one color photo with the Ethernet cable connected between them but without any cable not hooked up other than the power cord no wireless connection.

It is supposed to have two ways to connect the WiFi but I don't have a male type A USB 2.0 cable.

    Hi @SamWatkins001,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support for a solution to your connection problem.

I understand that you have a HP Officejet 5740 e-all-in-one printer which does not connect to your WiFi. I would like to help.

Thank you for a lot of useful information, including in your message.

You are right in thinking that the computer should see signal Wireless Wifi Direct to the printer when he sees all the other neighborhood WiFi networks. It would probably, if the wireless radio was working properly.

When it is said that the 'wireless radio does not work"on the Test print wireless, it means that the wireless on the printer does not work.

There is not much to do at this point but contact HP Support. What you can do, is to use the following link to create yourself a file number, then call and it can help to expedite the appeal process:

Step 1. Open the link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Step 2. Enter the product number or select Auto detection

Step 3. Scroll up to "still need help? Fill out the form to select your contact options.

Step 4. Scroll down and click on: contact HP options - click Get phone number

  • HP Office Jet Pro 8600 help how do I enlarge the print on an original when it is in copy mode?

I find it on my help screen how do I enlarge the print on a copy of an original document that I want to copy. I have Windows 7 on my computer and printer is HP Office Jet Pro 8600 wireless. I have a printer HP (3 in 1 officejet) before and it was much more user friendly. Is to use the online mode?

Here is a link to the user manual. To get the possibility to enlarge the copies, press this option on the display of the printer, then tap SETTINGS and then select resize, use the right arrow key to scroll through the sizing options on the printer. Changing the settings of copy is covered on page 59 and 60 in the manual. I hope this helps.

Make sure that the printer is plugged into a wall outlet directly and not in a surge protector. This, often, is the reason for lines appearing in the analyses.

There is also a document containing information on how to address lines in scans/copies located here.

    I hope this helps.

    Hey @mere4340,

Welcome to the Forums of HP's Support.

I see that you have some problems with the copy and see the display on your Officejet 8600 e-all-in-one printer. I can help you with that.

To start, make sure that the printer is plugged directly into a wall outlet, not a surge protector. Once it is, while the printer is on, remove the power cable at the back of the printer for one minute.

If after the above, that you can't always see the screen or copy clear, the printer needs to be replaced because it has no replaceable bulbs in the scanner or the display. You can contact the HP Support by clicking here and filling out the form below to see what options are available.

Please let me know if that solves your problems. If so, please click on accept solution. If you appreciate my help, please click on the thumbs up icon. The two icons are below this post.

  • HP 6500 Office Jet: is there a difference between an office jet 6500 and the other with a 'a' or 'more '.

    Hello, first post here.

They gave me an office jet 6500 without the cd rom set up the disc. The Unit came with 4 new cartridges. Started trying to get to the top and running and first it attracts not paper. Checked this site and resolved that. (temporaily?) Then saw that it was low out of ink. Installed the new trolleys. Colors work very well, but not black.

I have no cd rom for this and not manual.

I see that you can download the establishment, but was intrigued by the mention of a 6500 and 6500 more, not sure I have those. On the front it says "HP office jet 6500 wireless.

So I guess I have to run the cleaning jet. I started scrolling menu, but was rerouted it says there is no connected computer. Do I need to clean the jets?

I could shoot for today with a work properly stand-alone copy/printer. But I would not mind at all followed with setting up wireless on my sony pcv-rx752 pc. We use at + t here with a wireless router.

  • Office Jet 6700: HP Office jet 6700, I try to print it says printer ready, file print empty!

I have a HP Office Jet 6700. I am trying to print a document, it will say print Untitled. The print queue of the printer will open and say printer is print ready, empty file, Idle.

It is automatically paused printer. When I try to click on the document itself in the print queue and resume printing it gives the same message.

Power on the printer flashes slowly as well.

I hae rebooted my computer and restart the printer completely several times and it still didn't work. I printed just something about this last night so I don't know what the problem is.

Hello! Welcome to the @Chinadoll702 forums

I read your post on printing problems you encountered on your Mac running 10.6 and your Officejet 6700. I have some ideas in mind to start and I would like to know the results and we will take it from there.

Update the firmware of the printer: get the latest Firmware and updates

Be able to reset the printer and make sure the printer is plugged directly into the wall, avoiding bars power and surge protectors. This ensures that the printer is full on and can help greatly.

Press the power button to turn the product on.
With the product, unplug the power cord from the back of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the back of the product.
If the product does not light by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.

Make a few copy then and tell me if the copies suspend, cancel, do not work, etc.

Try to print the text change on your Mac as well and get back to me with the results.

    Good luck
