  If you don't have a Windows or Mac computer, you can tell your printer to connect to your router from the front panel as follows:
  To connect to the wireless network

  • Press the Setup button on the printer control panel.
  • Press the right arrow key to select the network settings and press the OK button.
  • Press the right arrow key to select the wireless configuration wizard, and then press the OK button.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation of the network.

  Check if you have set your printer as default printer.

  Right click on the start icon

  Click on Panel and then devices and printers

  Select the printer 6500 OJ and click set as default.

  Close and reopen Word and control...

  I have a Dell, IBM Lnovo, Toshiba NetBook & a new HP Probook all w / Windows 7.  I was using a HP OfficeJet 6500 E709n. With the exception of the new HP ProBook print very well all the new HP Probook only print in color. It will not print black.  I have used HP cartridges exclusively, cleaned heads w / software & wiped the cartridge & head clean, restarted the printer, laptop & the router several times, deleted & reloaded the original s/w & downloaded the latest s/w on the site of HP 3 times. S/w driver is still not loading properly.  I can print from the new laptop in color but cannot print in black.  Our son-in-law sets up computers for JD Edwards & is a senior network enginer.  He'snever heard talk about him. I took it to a retailer of technology where I bought it.  None of their technicians had never heard of him & could offer no solution.

  What should I do next?

  I see that you are having problems of black print output.  I would try to help!

  I would say uninstalling the software of the printer.

  Once it is uninstalled, I suggest you put your system in clean boot mode in the configuration of Microsoft.  You can do this by following this document: How to perform a clean boot in Windows.

  Once the computer is in clean boot mode, I would suggest to reinstall the HP printer install wizard for Windows.

  Many printers wireless requires that they be configured initially using a USB connection. Have you tried to install the printer it first?

  To select the correct driver, I need to know what version and the depth of Bit of Windows you are running.  Tip: go to control panel, select system, and the info is in the first window of information.   They gave me an office jet 6500 without the cd rom set up the disc. The Unit came with 4 new cartridges. Started trying to get to the top and running and first it attracts not paper. Checked this site and resolved that. (temporaily?) Then saw that it was low out of ink. Installed the new trolleys. Colors work very well, but not black.

  I have no cd rom for this and not manual.

  HP Office Jet 6500 has more problems with the paper jam.  The printer now shows "offline".  The printer works correctly when you use the copy function.  This is a wireless printer.  I tried printing HP and Scan doctor but the test page does not.

  Have you also tried to scan from your Mac? Similar problems with it?

  I wonder if it could be related to the router, you have the Officejet and Mac connected for not totally supported Hello (mDNS/Multicast).

  What you can try is first to add the printer via IP. Open on your Mac system preferences and then go to print & fax. Click the Plus sign icon to add a new queue of the printer. Then choose IP - protocoll choose HP Jetdirect taken and then insert the IP address of the printer in the address field and add the printer. Now try printing with this new created printer queue.
