Office No. hotsyncs; install desktop-not hotsync

TungstenE2 with Vista; has been able to hotsync (Pocket largely successful). But no office arrives with the data. Only your desktop with photos (Palm by Access). Instructions that came with your handheld (to replace an older) says to install desktop 6.2, I did. The desktop appears fine on my Toshiba laptop (2005 version), but I tried everything to get a hotsync to work. The message is that no connection is possible and control Setup. Help, please!

Try right click on the shortcut for Palm Desktop, then "run as Administrator".

Also make sure what UAC (User Account Control) is disabled.  Control Panel/users/disable UAC.

  • Four Office 2003 security updates will not install

I have four absolutely the Office 2003 security update will not be installed. I tried all the solutions I could find so far short of uninstalling and reinstalling Office. I am Windows 7 64-bit and many of the solutions I found reference XP or Vista, although I don't know how much difference that makes at this point. The updates are KB2289163, KB2284695, KB244978 and KB2466074. Other updates have succeeded since they refused to install after the download, but these four still just won't do.

What are the error codes that are specific to these four Office updates?

You could start a free Windows Update support, but it would be more efficient to just reinstall Office 2003 time.

  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2 causes the message "Windows install will not be accessible".

I am running Windows Vista with all the updates installed but Service Pack 2. I uninstalled Service Pack 2 because it was causing problems with the windows installation service. I was unable to install microsoft office update because the windows installer could not be accessed, and Adobe Acrobat Reader could not be repaired or updated for the same reason.

With installed Service Pack 2, I traveled all troubleshooting for the windows service install. I have a click with the right button on my computer, manage, service and open the properties of windows install. I have activated the service, but still couldn't install the updates Microsoft office or Adobe Acrobat Reader update/repair. I also tried to configure windows install automatic rather than manual when the computer starts.

I had the problem "Windows install is not be available" for nearly a year. After trying to do a repair Vista boot without result, I uninstalled all updates. The problem disappeared. I decided to install the updates one by one. After you have installed Service Pack 2, the problem with windows install returned. The Service Pack installs completely and then open my computer properties indicates that Vista runs with Service Pack 2 installed.

Uninstall Service Pack 2 and blocking automatic updates will not install it was my only solution to the issue of "Windows install is not be accessible". I fear that it may cause a security flaw in my computer, however.

If someone has encountered this problem, and if so, is there a solution to install Service Pack 2 for my windows service install still works correctly?

Applications, (Norton and McAfee) are known to not uninstall (or upgraded) themselves. Composition of such problems, Geek Squad is also infamous for having failed to download/run the Norton removal tool before installing another AV app or security suite! The 'leftovers' Norton may have caused your post-SP2 installation problem.

    1. download the Norton Removal Tool, save it to your desktop: ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

    2. close all open applications (that is, anything with an icon on the taskbar).

    3. click right on the file saved in #1 above, and then select run as administrator to run the utility. DO TAP not your keyboard until the race ends, then restart.

    4. open Internet Explorer (only) to http://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058 & run it in DEFAULT and modes difficulty then AGGRESSIVE. [1]

    5. restart & test (i.e. display SP2 & install it again). [2]

TIP: Temporarily disable Sunbelt Vipre Antivirus before installing SP2. If you still encounter problems after installing SP2 again, open a free support by my previous response incident.

Hello and welcome to the Forums of Support BlackBerry.com.

Step 1: You have installed Desktop Manager by using the option "Desktop Redirector".

If you are not using redirector, you must uninstall Desktop Manager, and then reinstall it using the BlackBerry Internet Service option.

Step 2: On your device, go to: Options > Advanced > maintenance book and remove any service books for [office]

  • KB2633880 - KB2518864 - KB2572073 installed, but not "seen" by Windows Update

    KB2633880 - KB2518864 - KB2572073 installed, but not "seen" by Windows Update

Today (Tuesday 22 may 2012), after seeing the yellow icon in the taskbar, I ran Windows Update and KB2633880 - KB2518864 - KB2572073 successfully installed, I turned off the PC by clicking on the red icon Turn Off with a shield icon, expected for all 3 updates to install, 4-color and for the PC to stop itself. It took a while, but everything went well. No error message.

After turning on the PC, I went back to Windows Update and was surprised to see Windows Update suggests to install... KB2633880 - KB2518864 - KB2572073 which is the same three components I have installed successfully.

I ran Microsoft Fix It that 1 issue (update of Windows components needs to be repaired (next line) repair of components Windows Update.) I clicked Next. Everything went well. I had a green check mark 'Fixed '.  I turned off the PC (without having to install 3 updates which I have already installed).

I turned on the PC and went to Windows Update, asking me to install KB2633880 - KB2518864 - KB2572073. It's like Windows Update does not "see" that these 3 elements have already been installed.

Note: I have the same problem on another PC. The two PC XP SP3 and are stand-alone PC. One is a desktop computer. The other laptop.

  • Product key Office 2007 pre-installed can be transferred to the new Thinkpad?

    Hello

When I bought my x 200 Thinkpad 4 years ago I bought Office 2007 pre-installed. I still have the product key for MS Office, but I do not believe that the x 200 comes with the software CDs. Now, I'm going to buy a new Thinkpad and want to use my Office 2007 software.

I don't want to pirate software. Anyone happens to know...

    1. Am I allowed to install the software on multiple computers under the license that you get with a preinstallation Thinkpad?
    2. If so, how to install the software on my second computer?

Thanks in advance for any info!

The answer is probably no, but it depends on what, in fact has been installed. read this:

  • In Windows Explorer, with the active preview pane, I get "No preview available" for documents .doc and .xls. other types of document overview as they should. I have Office 2003 is installed, that works normally.

I recently did a clean install of Windows 7 Ultimate 64 - bit on a machine that was used 32-bit XP Professional.  I fixed a similar problem in the preview pane of pdf files (I have Adobe Acrobat Professional 9) with a registry fix I found on the Web: http://www.pretentiousname.com/adobe_pdf_x64_fix/index.htm I Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack installed, as well as all updates and everything. I tried to create a Word 2007 document, to see if a better than .doc .docx document previews, but it will not preview or the other. UPDATE: .ppt (PowerPoint) docs preview, either.

I uninstalled Office 2003 and installed a trial version of Office 2007 and previews worked for my Office files. After that I uninstalled 2007 and re-installed 2003, found still do not work.

    SteveWin7,

If the problem exists only with the 2003 version, then we should probably get clarification on this. If you post your question with the Group Discussion of Microsoft Office, one of the experts it will be able to offer that you support with your question.
