  My HP Officejet 4500 will not print on my Windows 7. I tried to use the wireless feature, but it does not print, and when I connect the computer with the USB cable, it still does not print. • DeskJet 2540: Cannot download the driver file

  I need to reinstall my printer I changed the settings on my router and WiFi.  I tried three times to download the driver file - 2540_188.exe.   It seems to take some time every time that I tried and when I try to open it I first get a wanring of security of Windows 10 and if I by that and try to open the file I get a message "file corrupted".

  I came across your post about problems you encounter when you install the printer on your system Windows 10 and wanted to respond to my suggestions.

  I recommend power cycling network devices and a clean boot on your computer and then try to install again.

  1. turn off the printer and the computer and unplug the router for 1 minute (do not press the buttons on the router).

  2. plug the router back in and wait another minute, turn on the printer and the computer.

  3. from the computer, start clean: clean boot instructions

  4. download and install the printer here: printer install file

  5 return to clean boot instructions and allow the start of programs.

  Note: the security program you have on your computer may be detecting the printer as a threat. Try looking through the settings in this program to add the printer to the list 'allow' so that he knows that it is safe.

  You can also try installing the printer using a different method, such as if you are installing wireless, try USB and then convert the USB wireless when you have completed the installation.

  Hello, I tried to download a driver for several days, but it stops downloading almost as soon as it starts.

  It is be the sp64116.exe file, but it seems to be a general problem with the download server. When I try with Google Chrome, it stops after about 16 MB (the file is about 350 MB). When I try with Internet Explorer, I get a message saying downloading is interrupted and I went back several times - but it downloads only about 10 MB and then is interrupted again.

  Unfortunately, driver download pages all have some sort of script to download software files. There is no way to enter a URL or use FTP or torrent or something like dropbox to get the file directly.

  Please can you must solve this problem or provide alternative means to download the driver files.

  Another problem with the pages of drivers, is that if you select an OS like Windows 8 and drivers that you need happens to be Windows 7 drivers, then it will not be displayed in the list. Apparently there are several devices to an HP laptop that does not work directly with Windows 8 (or 10?) and you need to get the name of the device (and it is not one easy way to know what devices are built the laptop, if Intel or Qualcomm or Radox or another) and find the specific driver for this particular device file.

  I have a computer laptop 15-j040us Touchsmart is now a little older than a year (now out of warranty). My laptop has been asked to upgrade to Windows 8.1 since the first week or two after that I bought the new system.

  The update downloads very well and starts installation but fails every time when it tries to install different devices. At this point, the screen turns black, the laptop restarts and I get an error message saying that update did not work and that the system has been restored to its previous state.

  After working through to HP technical support, including sending the laptop to them to reimage, I am still unable to run the update, which means that my laptop is unable to run the applications and programs HP indicating that my laptop is ready to operate.

  I'm pretty confident that the problem is the Nvidia video driver. The version currently supported (version 9.xxx) of the driver is not compatible with 8.1. HP has a listed driver which is compatible with 8.1 (version 10.x.x.x), but I can't download it until my laptop is running 8.1. NVIDIA has released the site a driver that is compatible with both OS, but I can't seem to download it and install it so that I can perform the update.

  Can someone help me understand how to download the Nvidia driver so that I can perform this update?

  SOLUTION! I've updated my laptop for Windows 8.1!

  I confirmed that it was indeed a problem with the graphics driver Intel HD4000. After going to the site of Intel support for help, they showed a way to manually install the driver that I needed, even if it was not validated by HP.

  For others with the same question:

  1. go on Intel "Driver Update Utility". I leave automatically detect my hardware and used their suggested graphics driver. Otherwise, find the right driver for me Win64_153322.

  2. download the .zip, NOT the free installation package file and save it to your desktop for easy access.

  3 extract the .zip file, so you can access the files inside.

  4. go to the Device Manager, expand "graphics cards", right-click on "Intel HD4000" and click "Update Driver Software".

  5. Select ' Browse my computer for driver software

  6. choose "Let Me pick from a list of drivers on my computer".

  7. Select 'Have disk' and in the box that appears, select Browse

  8. go on the desktop, find the files extracted (for me, it was labeled Win64_153322), select "Graphics".

  9 select the file titled "igdlh64.inf".

  10. click on open

  Now the driver will install what should be version 10, instead of the version of HP 9.

  Once installed the new driver, download update Windows 8.1 since the Windows Store, let not install.
