OfficeJet 4500 G510n-z: HP Office Jet 4500 G510n-z fails to print over wireless network

Hello

Earlier my XP (Dell D620) machine stopped printing wireless with my officejet 4500 G510n-z. My Windows 7 D630 prints wirlessly without any problem. I have download the current HP drivers without result. I looked at other positions, but none of the viable solutions. The 4500 G510n-z appears as a printer, but all print jobs end with an error. I can't print a test page, Notepad, etc. All jobs appear on the queue, but they all error. It seems to be a specific problem of the XP. I have XP pro version 2002 Service pack 3. My network is just a Verizon Fios wireless router. In windows 7, I can see the actual address of the Hp wireless connection when the printer is added. Under Xp I do not see the address wireless when I try to add the printer. Now, it appears in the list of printers on XP but 7 seems to see the actual address wireless and allows me to select it to add the printer. I plugged the XP machine to the printer and it would work for a while then stops working. Don't know what triggers the loss of connection. How can I specify the connection 4500 G510n-z XP? I tried to add the IP address I see on my 7 machine but XP wants to a path of the server which is //server etc., UNC path.

I went in the properties of the printer and changed the address to match the 7 IP 192.168.1.3 192.168.1.9 Windows 7 XP, but not go again.

Thank you

Al

Hello @adb1779,

Thanks for getting back to me on this subject. Because the ping tests on both computers is successful when communicating with your wireless printer, it turns out that you do not encounter a network issue at all. On the contrary, there is either a program of 'blocking' of printing wirelessly on your XP computer or computer XP is not "like" the fact that you have changed the IP address of 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.9. It would seem that your XP computer is a former connection with the printer. To resolve this problem, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Launch MSCONFIG:

I'll have you temporarily disable all programs background on your XP system to see if there is a program that runs in the background on your Windows XP computer that would block communication with your printer.

  1. Click on the Start menu
  2. Click run. In the Run dialog box, type msconfig and click OK
  3. When the System Configuration window opens select 'Selective Startup ' and uncheck load startup items
  4. Click the Services tab, check the box at the bottom to hide all Microsoft Services
  5. Select disable all
  6. Select apply and OK
  7. Computer restart when prompted

When your Windows XP computer turns please try printing. If the printer works correctly now it would mean that a program was blocking the communication. If the problem persists, proceed to the steps below.

Step 2: Uninstall the drivers:

I understand that you have already done this in the past without result. However, if your product is identified as on 192.168.1.3 she is not installed correctly, or an earlier version of the printer with an old IP isn't be properly removed from the system. It is crucial for the repairs we have a clean slate to work with. Please follow the steps below.

  1. Click on the Start menu
  2. Click on programs
  3. Select the HP folder
  4. Select your HP Officejet
  5. Select Uninstall
  6. Please follow the instructions on the screen to complete the uninstallation.

Once the uninstall is complete, proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Clear the server properties:

Your printer driver can also be installed under the print server properties. I'll have to make sure your driver has been completely removed from both print server.

1. click on the Start menu

2. Select Printers. You may need to go to the Control Panel then Printers and faxes.

3. in printers and faxes click on file and select Server properties

4. in the print server properties window, select the drivers tab

5. If your HP Officejet is listed, click on it and select Remove downstairs.

6. a new window opens, click on Remove only the driver. Click OK.

7. Select apply and then OK in the print server properties window.

8. close printers and fax machines.

Step 4: Delete the temporary files:

  1. Click on the start menu
  2. Select run. In the Run dialog box, type %temp% , and then click OK
  3. Click on the Start menu
  4. When the Temp folder opens, Select the first item in the Temp folder and tap the SHIFT key on your keyboard.  Now Shift while, scroll down a few lines and click on another element in the file. What is between these two elements will highlight.
  5. Select the "delete" button on your keyboard. The Temp folder contains the temporary internet files. None of the actual files or folders on your computer will be affected by deleting Temp files. If a Temp file be used yet that you will automatically get the pop-up that you can't delete this item. The "deletion" process is cancelled. On Windows Vista, 7 and 8 of Windows you can just "jump" from the items which will not delete. Unfortunately, on Windows XP, it is not so easy. Take note of this point is unable to delete. Then, ignore this element. Click on the next element in the list, hold the SHIFT key and click another item in the list to remove another piece of elements. You will continue this tedious step until all items in the Temp folder which will remove are deleted.
  6. Close the Temp folder when it is empty
  7. Right-click the recycling bin on your desktop and select empty recycling bin

Step 5: Reinstall the drivers:

  1. Please click here to download the drivers for your printer
  2. Once the site opens click on the download button at the top left
  3. Once the download is complete, follow the instructions on the screen to reinstall your printer wireless
  4. Once your printer is properly reinstalled please try again to print wireless.

Please reply to this message with the result of your troubleshooting. Good luck!

  • OfficeJet 4500 noisy before and after printing

My Officejet 4500 G510 is suddenly very hard before and after printing. A repetitive noise quickly (like a submachine gun) turns on for about 5 seconds before and after printing. The printer and a screw brouilla's reversed. Can not see where it came from, after having carefully considered in back and front compartments. But the noise was still prints OK, I have to go!

Thank you for advice or comments.

I'm sorry you have a problem with the loud noise with the printer.

Try to perform a hard reset on the printer. Unplug the power cord at the back. Leave for 30 seconds and plug it back.

This screw is perhaps the problem on it. It may be a piece that is stuck and make transport to slam against the wall.

Try to see if something prevents the transport to move freely.

  • How to connect the Officejet Pro 8100 printer to wireless network

Bought a "nine" Officejet Pro 8100 and want to use via my wireless network. The CD supplied with the printer is obsolete. Updated Apple software but can't see how to connect the printer to the network. Getting Started Guide is no help on this issue. Searched for support without result pages. Utility HP does not provide a method to set up a wireless feature. Find all the instructions, I say first of all make sure that the printer is connected to the wireless network, and that's what I can't find out how. What I forget?

Finally, I called HP hotline for help and was rescued. It turns out that Apple's software update software includes all the required components. The software from the HP Web site is no longer available. It's frustrating to see the Getting Started Guide refer frequently to the HP installation wizard and be unable to locate it. Once the wizard tech took control of my computer and installed the necessary software, it was a breeze!

I also note that compose the support number to talk with a guy was rather brief: between 1 and 2 minutes, I recall. Although there was a menu of the phone, it was not a large (unlike the attempt labyrinthine and often circular to locate the online help).

Insofar as HP knows the necessary software in not available via software update or directly from HP, wouldn't make sense to inform buyers, as well as how to access? At least do not place meaningless, useless on the Web site links that lead into oblivion and frustration!

Although I did appreciate the journey, I finally arrive at my destination. Thanks to Aris, HP technician. You are exceptional!

    Hi CharlieM1,

I understand that you get a summary page of unexpected (and unwanted) document each time you print something from Word. Take a look at the following stop printing with document summary sheet. Scroll to the first suggestion following the issue. Later in the thread, fold it explains that the "desktop" button is simply the file tab now if you are using a version of Word, Word 2007 at least. I hope it's useful. Good luck and have a wonderful day.

  • Office jet pro 8500 a: elimination of printer, was this encrypted model? How to destroy the hard drive?

    This model encrypted?

If this is not the case, how to destroy the hard drive? Where is the hard drive?

    Hi @Diane47,

Thanks for joining the Forums of HP Support with your request to printer.

I understand that you have a HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer you plan to elimination and you wonder if the hard disk is encrypted and how to destroy the hard drive. I would like to help with that.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 has e-all-in-one printer don't have a hard drive. It contains a very small amout of memory, so it can keep in memory the printer and fax settings.

You can clear the memory by restyoring the printer back to the default values.

    1. on the printer Panel, select Setup.

    2. from the Configuration menu, select Tools.

    3. on the Tools menu, select Restore Factory Defaults.

HP offers to recycle their products for you. If you want to know more about it, please click here.

Please let me know if that solves the problem, or if you need assistance.

    Hi Alwyn,

When you reply to a post there is an option to attached below your text window.  You can scan the alignment and save it to your hard drive, and then look where you saved to attach to your message.

However, I don't really see it.

I think that the error you get told you that a print head is missing.

I don't know how to stop the error from happening than to clean the printhead step 5 in this document:

  • Office Jet 6000: cannot find how to print the test page with Office jet 6000

I can't find in the properties of this printer HOW to print a test page. I was running out of ink black, and all color cartridges are rather recent and not on show at low levels. But, after replacing the black cartridge the first doc to test printed came out very uneven and unreadable.  There is no error message.  How in diagnostics on this printer to test the printing?  I tried not to print a doc of color (as photo) yet.

Can I update the driver?  Help, please.

    Hello

Test print page options under properties of the print driver for your device.

But I don't think that solv your problem.

You must print alignment and another test for correct print quality problems.
