OfficeJet 6500 - switch from USB to wireless connection?

Got a new MacBook Pro (OS 10.6 Snow Leopard) and new Officejet 6500 Wireless, installation on old wired eMac (OS x 10.4.11) seemed to go smoothly. Fine prints of eMac/USB connection, but I can't figure out how to go wireless to print from MacBook. (User guide says to use the network printer configuration utility in Device Manager/Info and settings - but that the utility is not listed. I'm pretty sure that the printer is on my network without wire - set - up seemed OK, and the network was recognized immediately during the initial installation (on the eMac), Safari recognizes the printer via Bonjour on the MacBook, etc.. As an experimentI tried to print from MacBook still and you have something like "printer offline".

Basically I'm a novice at this (and HP technical support is essentially down to the day, so I can't yet begin the session of 3 hours so many people report), any help at all would be appreciated.

Sonofa...! This is where, under Print > Copies & Pages > page layout. (Not exactly intuitive given that the interface is different for pre - 10.6.) But now, all right. Thank, very much .)

My company has 4 printers HP Laserjet Pro M251nw 200. All of these printers have been previously configured as USB or wireless.  We now modify the connection for all of the printers for wired networks.

I already tried uninstalling a wireless printer and reinstalling like wired, but one that results in the computer/printer does not queue jobs.

What is the best way to change the connections wired to previously installed printers?

    Hello @BBMGRNR,

Welcome to the Forums of HP and thanks for posting!

I want to help you with questions that you may have installed your multiple HP LaserJet M251nw computers via a wired connection for Windows 7 computers.

At any time that you re-install the printer with a different connection type, you run the risk of ending up with multiple instances of the printer in your Devices folder. Just, this tends to create confusion, you might accidentally selecting your previous connection to printer and nothing will be printed.

What I recommend to do is uninstall the software completely of all calculated, like this you can eliminate confusion for the users of these computers. If you need help on the uninstall process, you can follow the steps described here - HP monofunctional and Printers Multifunction - uninstalling the printer software

I also recommend to download the latest software, rather than using the original CD. You can download the latest version for your printer in this case - color HP LaserJet Pro 200 M251 series full feature software and drivers

    I hope this helps!

  • My Officejet 6500 more suddenly stopped printing wirelessly from my iPad 2

After working perfectly for several months, my 6500Plus HP E710n Officejet-z does not print wireless from my iPad2 or my iPhone 4 s. I use version 5.0.1 on these devices and had used this version before that the printing problem. I get the following message: "Officejet 6500 E710n-z [11E2A9] the printer is no longer available." The printer works fine (without thread) of my MacBook Pro in OS X 10.6.8 version. I "think" that there was an update from HP before it started, but I'm not sure of the timing. Any ideas on how I can get these mobile devices wireless print again?

What router?  Reboot the router by pulling its plug momentarily.

If this does not work, we will set an IP address of the printer:

-Print a the front of the printer Network Setup Page. Note the IP address of the printer.
-Enter the IP address in a browser to reveal the internal settings of the printer.
-Choose the network tab, then wireless along the left side, then on the IPv4 tab.
-On this screen, you want to set a manual IP address. You must assign an IP address outside the range that the router sets automatically (called the DHCP range). If you do not know the range, change the last set of numbers (those after the last '.') 250
-Apply the subnet 255.255.255.0 (unless you know it's different, if so, use it)
-Enter the IP of your router (on the Page of the Network Config) for the gateway.
-Enter for the first DNS 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 for second DNS.
    -Click 'apply '.

Now, stop the router and printer, start the router, wait, and then start printing.

After that, you will have to redo 'Add printer' using the new IP address.

  • Apple Airprint for HP Officejet 6500 has more via a wired connection to the router

    Hello

So I did a considerable amount of research in this through the internet and this forum and I still struggle to find a satisfactory solution.

I have a HP Officejet 6500 a more connected by ethernet to my BT Homehub 3.

It is I understand that even if there is a wired connection, as long as my iOS device (iPad 2 or iPhone 5) is connected to the same router, I should still be able to see this Officejet thanks to ease of airprint.

Unfortunately, this is not the case. I get the message "No Airprint Printers Found" on both devices. The only way I managed to get my Mac Pro (Mavericks) to connect has been add to mannualy by using the IP address of the printer.

Can anyone provide guidance on what I might hurt? Certainly, the printer must connect internet I can print from my iOS devices using HP ePrint app for iOS.

Some might say, well, what's the problem, just use the HP application, but is not the point. I think that if something has been set up to make things easier, then use it. I chose this printer specifically for this feature is a bit frustrating for her so difficult to get the desired results.

Hope it is something simple and anyone can help you.

    Thank you

    Steve

Following this request and reading the many more similar questions, I think I may have solved this.

I'm not 100% sure but I read a few threads suggests that there are issues around BT Homehub 3 and Hello so this can be a problem.

I tried the following in the past two days...

    (1) completely don't reset my router (wiped all settings and started)-no luck!

    (2) I tried changing to WPA2 to just WPA security - no luck!

    (3) tried to convey the Hello to the printer ports - no luck!

    (4) turn off the router, printer and all the devices iOS then fed back router, printer, then iOS devices - printer appears on iOS devices, but when printing was selected iOS device returned on several occasions not connected printer error.

Finally, what seems to have made (at least for now) has been...

    (1) disconnected the Officejet ethernet and set up as wireless.

    (2) off voltage router, printer and all iOS devices then propelled upward in the order listed previously.

    (3) so far, I tried to print a mail and a web page of my iOS devices, and both have been successful.

By the way I've been struggling also to airplay from my iPhone / iPad until I started messing around with the settings above, and now this question also seems to be resolved.

Due to the variety of combinations (different printers, routers, etc.) people will have, it seems to be quite difficult to find a solution that solves a single problem but I hope some of my experiences and findings could help others in some way.

  • HP Officejet 6500 kills everything on my wireless network

I have the HP Officejet 6500 and when I try to put in place, wireless, it kills everything that is on the network.  It is not just completely kill, it pushes everything out of the network internet access.  I had everything set up in my old house without problem, but I recently moved and changed routers and the trouble started.

I completely deleted all my computers printing software, thinking that maybe there is an IP address from my old router in conflict and have also used the HP wireless program both without success. I'm about to end with it.

My router is a SMC8014WG and I have 3 computers running on Windows Vista and 1 running on Windows 7

    2. restart the SMC by pulling the power plug momentarily.

    3. follow the instructions above.

    4. When you are finished, plug the phone into the line and raise the MSC.

I tried to turn the printer power off and moving the USB cable to the USB port of different desktop and power on printer again. I tried to reset the default printer on the printer control panel. The software does not believe that the USB is connected. This is the case.

I pressed the button on the control panel of the printer wireless. It flashes blue.

I'm usually pretty good with the resolution of this kind of thing, but I'm ready to break this piece of scrap on the ground and dance on his grave. .. .any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

    Hi Julie,.

Thanks for the reply, sorry for the frustration. Here's what to do to uninstall it, in a more detailed form.

    • Click on the link above to access the driver removal tool.
    • Click on download and run.
    • Click 'Yes' when asked if you want to allow the following program to make changes to the computer.
    • A folder opens, look down and you'll see 'uninstall_l3' - select it.
    • The uninstall is running and restarts your computer.

Now, it is normal to go forward, and then reinstall the printer.

I hope this helps you, let me know how it goes!

  • HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 periodically loses the wireless connection

I have a new printer HP 8600 settlement. It is configured as a wireless printer and most of the computers on my network are able to access very well.

However, I have a server running Windows 2003 Small Business Server and it's hard to stay connected to the printer. The server is wired through an ethernet cable, the printer is configured as a configuration wireless w / an IP defined manually so that computers can easily locate the printer on the same IP address every time. I used Windows XP drivers to install the printer very well under Win2003SBS. When connected, it prints very well. But after awhile, the printer loses the connection with the Win2003SBS machine. Sometimes it prints, usually, is not. I have to reset the printer as if it is going into such a deep sleep, the server is unable to wake up the printer.

In addition, the printer struggled to connect to shared folders on the server (more precisely, the function "scanner network"). If I go into Internet Explorer by using the browser from the server, then connect to the 8600 via the built-in web server, it won't work. Once the server is connected to the printer on the built-in Web server, the server and the scanner will be will recognize each other. It is a painful and tedious extra step and it will expire after a short period, after which the server and printer must be connected in the same way.

All my computers/printers/faxes are connected to the same wireless Westell 7500 router. They should not have communication problems because they are all pulling IP addresses in the same area.

Is there a way to make the server and the printer recognize themselves and stay connected? Am I wrong configured something? Thank you.

    Hi bluestreak363,

I would change the Ethernet cable to make sure that you have a good solid connection and then download the software driver for Win Server 2003 on the link below.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus: loss of wireless connection, printer does not accept the password wireless

My printer has suddenly lost its wifi connection. It's the only phone connected to my network to do so.

Through the Wireless Setup Wizard to restore the connection. Assistant tells me that I entered an invalid password wireless, that is not true. (I confirmed that all devices connected to the network using the same password).

Reset the router (Technicolor of Time Warner). Reset the printer. The 'Restore default network' done. No luck.

Zero has changed since yesterday, when my printer was working fine. I used the same router for months, do not change any settings. Any thoughts on what may be the issue? A bad update happen?

    Thanks in advance.

My apologies for the late reply. I managed to get this problem resolved by phone to customer service.

The security mode of the router had to be changed to 64 WEP for wireless connection to be restored. According to Support HP, it's a common problem with the routers in Technicolor. There was no explanation as to why the printer has suddenly lost the ability to connect wirelessly when safety was created to WPA2-PSK. The network has been configured this way for more than a year.

I have almost solved this problem on mine (I had read about changing of security in a different post), but ran into a hiccup because of Safari. For some reason, Safari prohibited access to a menu page for my router security settings. You can imagine how boring it is to look at the HP Support use Firefox to access the router and do what a mouse click more, and then I had to make the change. So, if you make this change, be sure not to use Safari to access the gateway of the router Technicolor. Use Chrome or Firefox.

    Hi nCCw,.

Thanks for the reply.  According to the information provided, it seems that the USB port on the printer is faulty.  It is possible that both cables are defective, but it is unlikely.  According to the age of the model, the unit is probably out of warranty.  You can check the warranty status .  If one of the following connection options are not feasible, a replacement unit will be necessary. If the unit is out of warranty it is not covered, and the unit will need to be upgraded. Support information phone HP can be found here.

    Possible connection options:

    1. infrastructure network with router (this will not work with the map broadband) - wired with Ethernet connection or wireless radio

    2. direct network Adhoc-I do not recommend this, it will provide the feature with the connected computer, but other only single connection while the printer is connected (no internet access during this time)

Try this to see if we can get the USB port to respond (if the port it completely dead it will not):

    1. check the port, if it is loose, push firmly in place

    2. clean, use a lint cloth and gently wipe the contacts on the inside

Note: If the unit is out of warranty, I recommend you to contact the helpline.  Often updates are offered at discounted rates for a guaranteed customers value.  If you choose to upgrade, be sure to ask about care packs.  These may also be available at a discount for the purchase of upgrade.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need additional assistance.

    Kind regards

  • OfficeJet 6500 has Win7. Unable to connect to web services.

  • DeskJet 3511 change from usb to wireless

I'm moving my printer all-in-one Deskjet 3511 of wireless USB to one. I use on my Mac OS X Mavericks and the access point for my network is an AirPort Express Terminal, if that makes a difference. I tried to use the Setup Wizard, the application of configuration easy wireless, etc and nothing has worked yet. I don't know if I have previously configured something I forgot and need to reset the printer to factory settings or if there is something other that I'm missing (which is not unlikely).

    Hi kitkatkaiti,

I understand that you cannot set up the printer on the wireless network. I can help you today.

Print a configuration page to see if it provides the SSID or the IP address of the printer.

    Printing a Network Setup Page.

You can restore the default settings of network on the printer.

Go to the configuration, the wireless menu, select restore defaults, Yes.

First, check the encryption and password for the network.

    To check the encryption type:
In the Apple menu, click on Go, selection of applications, utilities, Keychain Access, on the left side, click on passwords, double-click the name of the network, check the show the password box, type your Mac password to see.

    To check the network password:
In the Apple menu, click on Go, selection of applications, utilities, Keychain Access, on the left side, click on passwords, double-click the name of the network, check the show the password box, type your Mac password to see.

Try the printer configuration using this method:

    Turn it on wireless Direct.

Go to the configuration menu wireless, direct and turn it on.

Go to the airport and connect to the network printer.

Then, type 192.168.223.1 in the address bar of Safari.
It will load: the printer server Web part, click the network tab, select Setup wireless on the left.

Fill in all your information. Apply the settings.

    Reconnect your network name.

Then add the printer on the Mac, because the software is already installed.

Click on the Apple menu and then click on System Preferences.
Scanners & printers, then click the plus sign +.

Select the printer in the list. (Make sure that the printer is listed beside the use: displays the name of the correct printer and not Airprint) Click the Add button. (you may need to click the drop down menu to select your printer)

    Test the printer.

Let me know how make you out.

    Good day!
    Thank you.

  • OfficeJet 6600 e-all-in-one: Wireless connectivity with the new router problem

We had the printer since 12 months, workin with no problems.

Just got a new modem/router (NETGEAR V7610) installed as part of the NBN implementation and I can't get the printer to connect to the new router. 5 and 2.4 G active networks. The two defined newtorks on security WPA2-PSK [AES].

The printer detects the wireless (2. 4 g) network, but can't coplete the connection. Tried the two direct input the network key and using WMA.

-The display panel shows "wireless invalid password (WPA) is entered.

-The results of network printer test page indicates a FAILURE on safety.

I was able to connect to multiple other devices (laptop, iphone, Kindle...) without any problem. Used the two direct entry of the key network and WMA.

    Anything else I can try?

Find a new update of the firmware for the printer (May 9, 2016).

After you apply the update, the printer is able to connect to the new modem.
