OfficeJet 6700: upgrade after Windows 10 - locked by admin password

After the upgrade to Windows 10 all functions under "Settings" are locked and the error indicates "this function has been locked by your system administrator or the person setting up the printer" I have never implemented or locked these functions. I understand that it is a known HP printer after upgrade to Windows 10 error. Restoring default values does not either because the feature is locked. I need to fix this or get a new printer from another provider, thanks.

Hi @VIKING00,

I can honestly say I have not heard this before going on as a result of any upgrade, but that being said, I've heard of the error, "this function has been locked by your system administrator or the person setting up the printer" and I am confident, I can help you.

rather than restoring to factory settings, I would like to reset the printer completely. I'll send you a PM (private Message), but before I do, please see the HP Privacy Statement.

There are a growing number of messages in this forum and elsewhere in the internet with the steps to do a reset on different printers.  Reset to will sometimes fix problems, so resetting is not the issue.

A few resets require you to enter key combinations to open special menus on your printer that you were supposed to never access.  These special menus are used by developers and staff support for debugging of problems, but they are not intended for inexperienced users and can have unexpected results.  A wrong button push and you might no longer have a printer, but rather an expensive paper weight.  On top of that, if you happen to the 'brick' the printer in this way, it is considered as customer induced damage and voids the warranty automatically. These resets are only intended to be distributed and used as a last resort and under the direct instruction of a representative of the HP technical support. They should not be made lightly!

  • OfficeJet 6700 Premium: after Windows 10 Upgrade on Officejet 6700 scanning does not work anymore - can not find scanner

    Hello

Having finally decided to take the plunge to upgrade to Windows 10, I discovered that my Officejet 6700 Premium previously peripheral work will scan is no longer.

My connection to the device is via a wired connection with a static IP address on the printer. It all worked perfectly under Windows 7, but now, I can only print to the printer to win 10.

I tried to uninstall the previously working software (under Win 7) and downloaded the latest version of the HP (OJ6700_1315 - 1.exe) software, which BTW is not a patch on the previous software that I'm used to using - but it did not help. Still no joy with the scanning feature.

I tried to uninstall all software, so I tried to launch the Wizard installation HP which seemed to re - install the last set of software (as above) with the same results - I can print it, but if I try to scan using the Officejet 6700 App it appears a dialog box saying "inaccessible Scanner. Scanner communication cannot be established. Make sure that your product is powered, check the connection and esnure that your network runs correctly. ...".  Amazing result given that the application displays all levels of printer ink, and I can print - every time!

I tried disabling the firewall - no difference, still do not see the scanner.

Tried using other windows applications; Paint, etc. - no joy.

I also tried the "HP Print Scan doctor and" nothing does - even, he gives up and says to contact HP support, with no details about what to tell them!

I hope someone else out there could have had the same problem and found a way to make it work?

    Thank you!

    Ok

In case anyone is interested, I bit the bullet and did a new install of Windows 10 on a formatted drive. I then installed the same software that I had tried on the "upgrade to Windows 7" windows, 10, and everything works as expected.

Therefore, there is definitely something wrong with the upgrade process, and the removal of the HP scanning software & resettlement never did his job correctly.

I look closely at the list of DLLs etc., charged by the printing software, but could not detect anything immediate.

Then, certainly in my case, a new facility was to solve this problem.

    See you soon,.

  • UAC of Windows to type the Admin password but do me not not a place to go. Help.!

You are prompted for an administrator password after trying to implement the parent controls.  My move to the standard administrator account. Now have two standard accounts and cannot repair. Invited by the UAC of Windows to type the Admin password but don't give me a place to enter.  My computer cannot even upward with out having to buy pass this fast.  Help.!

It's because, apparently, there is no administrator account.
If and only if, there is account admin on your system Windows will allow the built in (if not already enabled) administrator account if you start Sate mode.  Use the main administrator account to activate admin at least a user account.  Restore your admin account or create a new admin account.   You must keep at least one active admin account to manage your computer.  A supplement is even better.

  • OfficeJet 6600: upgrade of Windows post 10

After upgrade Windows 10 on 29/07/2015, my 6600 Officejet continues to work and print. but when I click on my desktop icon to view ink levels or that scan a page comes up saying install new printer.

In the control panel Officejet 6600 is indicated as being installed and work and notice that in another thread, there is a link for HP printer drivers that says if the upgrade of Windows 8.1 for Windows 10 printer will continue to work. I suspect that a Windows 10 driver is needed somewhere, but cannot find one in the page Web of HP.com drivers. Also when I followed the links in the page that appears when I click on my icon it doesn't drive anywhere which resembles a desktop printer software download.

    Ex Airways.

Had another go to resolve the issue today. Uninstalled and reinstalled printer software again. This time success all functons printer now satisfactory. I don't know but perhaps HP have written some new drivers for Windows 10 of the day overnight?

  • Unlock windows box disappears after windows automatically locks the screen

    Hello

I have a professional Windows XP Tablet from Lenovo X 200 ongoing execution machine. This problem does not occur * too * often, but enough to be annoying.

After 15 minutes of inactiviy, windows is the standard screen saver routine by locking the desktop computer. Meanwhile, the white box that says click on Ctrl-alt-del to enter your password is visible. There is also the virtual keyboard on the screen.

From time to time, I go back to my computer to see that white box unlock is missing! There is no way for me to go back to windows! I have literally remove the battery and restart. During this time, I lost all my unsaved data... not to mention that I keep not the most graceful way.

This happened to someone? What in the world could be the cause?

    Thanks for the comments.

The analysis may take some time, so be patient. Windows allows to fix corrupt or missing files it finds. If the information of the installation CD is required to fix the problem, you may be asked to insert your Windows XP installation CD.

  • To avoid the upgrade of Windows 10; locked in a form of updating

Hello! I'd rather not upgrade to Windows 10. (I know that you can always return; but it's something I don't want to deal with at all). However, I seem to be stuck on a screen to update with no out way of "opting":

It does give me a selection of time and said I can't change it later. There is no button close and try to shut it down in the bottom task bar does not work either. I'm hesitant to restart where he sees this as permission to continue and to update anyway.  I already had the regular update screen shutdown problem and he's trying to start with force without worrying.

I tried to close it in (windows update and wuauclt.exe) Task Manager, but does not immediately pop to the top.

In the future, is there anything else I can do to ensure that a window like this does not yet appear? Thank you!

Edit: I forgot to mention that after having solved the problem with the above download close, I chose to decline the offer of free and confirmed. He said I would no longer receive notifications about upgrading windows 10, but this window appeared without worrying...

Where can I find what is the name of the computer?  I assume you mean in the name of the computer from the windows XP machine.

The easiest way is to open a DOS (start, run CMD.exe) prompt on the XP machine and in the prompt box type back:

    Host name

This will return the name of the computer.  Following in the box back type:

    NET View \\computername

Where \\computername is replaced with the name returned by the Hostname command.  Lists the printers and other shared items on this computer, look for the printer share name.

Well, you need to get more of what you have.  Assuming that you want to connect directly to your phone, the information in your User Guide that you download from the web.  You must print the Network Setup page to see your password.

To check the IP address of the printer, get the IP address by printing a Network Setup page.

  • After doing a system restore factory on my toshiba satellite when my windows screen it asking admin password I tried the old but it won't work but I can get on in safe mode please help

    It is a toshiba satelliteL505D-Ls5001

When you perform a factory restore then all passwords are cleared and you are prompted for an account name (that you choose) and his password.

If you are prompted for a password to an existing account, then you don't have a factory restore. Maybe you did a Windows restore to a Restore Point, in which case the password is the one that was current when the Restore Point was created.

If you can get in Mode safe under an admin account you can reset any desired password.

  • I forgot my windows 7 home prieum admin password?

I tried to open it with safe mode, but there was that my admin account no other. Please tell me the solution & I can not format my window there a lot of important documents.

You cannot reinstall Windows 7 without formatting the computer:

Boot from the Windows 7 DVD
    Click Install now
    Accept the license agreement
When the option is displayed to select a type of installation, click (Custom advanced)

Select the disk partition where you want to install Windows 7 click Next.

You will receive the following warning:

The partition you have selected may contain files from a previous Installation of Windows. If so, these files and folders will be moved to a folder named Windows.old. You will be able to access the information in Windows.old, but you will be able to use your previous version of Windows.

(At all costs, do NOT click on anything in Format, deletion or Partition name.) So even do a custom installation, your personal files are still kept. Click OK

The installation program will now begin installation. During installation, your computer will be restarted several times.

Once the installation is complete, you can complete the Out of Box experience as the choice of your laptop, create a username, password, your time zone. You can then proceed to download the latest updates for Windows and reinstall your applications and drivers.

You can then retrieve your personal files from the Windows.old folder and reinstall all of your applications and drivers.

    Hello

Your laptop is to produce a code hexadecimal halt which is stored in the ram as a 'one stop' and is recalculated after a reboot.  This indicates that you have a FRIEND bios later and unfortunately none of the current code generators will work - surprisingly, you can always remove power on password of the machine by removing the cell RTC (leave the connected Power Board) then hold down the power button for 60 seconds before reinserting the RTC.

The bad news is that the RTC may be on the 'wrong' side of the system board, so it will take some disassembly.

    Kind regards

  • Lockout after no repair install - no admin password

I did a scan to install & repair malware after a virus corruption. I can get to the desktop in SafeMode (& have networking), but in normal mode I am locked. The login screen asking password Admin, & it does nothing. I have never had a password, or even been invited to enter one in the past.

I looked at my user accounts in the Control Panel, & is not the passwords assigned to anything... So, how can I bypass the logon screen to go directly to the desktop as it did before?

Please return your previous post. You seem to have the impression that your computer is malware free since you did a scan with Kapersky. I know me. No anti-virus or malware scanner has a 100% detection rate. For this reason, you need to scan with several scanners.

Open Control Panel > user accounts > click "Change the way users log on and out". Place a check mark in the check box use the Welcome screen.
